Some people will moan about anything, and obviously do fuck all about it.
Koke Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 There are loads of other statues in Leicester that no one even knows about or give a shit about. Apart from one or two, I couldn't tell you who the other statues are.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Isn't there a statue of Thomas Cook somewhere? (It might be next to the station, in which case I walk past it most days). I've never once been on one of his holidays, it's an outrage. I demand that it be torn down immediately. If it exists
CosbehFox Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 I am still questioning the erection of the Liberty Statue. What's the statue of Liberty got to do with Leicester?
Zingari Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 I am still questioning the erection of the Liberty Statue. What's the statue of Liberty got to do with Leicester? Liberty Shoes, it was a famous shoe factory and a local landmark
Tevez Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Yeah nice one, I'll certainly give Gandhi a big slap on the head when I'm on the piss up Leicester.
Finnegan Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Just wait for the debate when the Nick Griffin statue gets erected in coalville.
ASH17LCFC Posted 18 June 2009 Posted 18 June 2009 Can't wait for the debate when the Martin Luther King JR statue gets erected in Highfields ...
Dr The Singh Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I'm glad to say, atleast this nation allows people to debate, allows people of various communities to express themselves, believe me if I were to discuss Gandhi openly in hindustan, I would be put in prison, and if I wanted to put a statue of a native Sikh leader, the hindus would start a riot, I have seen the latter with my own eyes!!! It's fair to say, that those who were against the idea should have complained, me being one of them!! I have transpired the FACTS of Gandhi, and his racist, vile treacherous ways, they are not 'perspective' facts, they are facts on any side of the spectrum, no man, dead or alive can dispute those facts!! It's funny how people criticise those islamist that want sharia, and here's a bold man in comparison was anti west in his social ideals and believed the 'varna (caste) system' was far more superior!!! Just to make a point that probably was missed, this Indian charity, spent 20 grand on this statue, 1.4 million rupees, the average monthly salary is around 2000 rupees. With over 75% of the population suffering from malnutrition, 90% of the population is ilterate, and over 33 million child prostitutes in the nation...........I can think of alot betters ways to spend that money then a statue that will be covered in bird shit, piss and puke!! I was at a wedding this weekend, at the twikenham rugby ground in london, we got speaking to a few londeners, as soon as they heard we were from Leicester, they talked about the statue, to my surprise majority stated 'WTF does Gandhi have to do with Leicester, no wonder the whites are getting more pissed off and considering the BNP, all you see these days are asians wanting to stamp there own identity on this nation..................... I explained that it was in a hindu area, hence alot of people didn't see it being a problem and the response was 'so fooking what if it's a hindu area, what about other people that live there, and wouldn't that just make it more segregated, you may aswell call it little gujarat or india, it's becomming like the US, where they have pockets of each community, isolated from each other.........................'. Now none of these guys knew the truth about Gandhi, nor did I tell them, I think it shows a conscience thinking that the natives are getting peeed off at the change in the socal demographics and that there's a fine line between allowing communities to express there cultural roots and one that stamps those roots on others!! To Ultra, there's a distinct difference between being a man of honour, pride and vigor and a coward. I think we all know which type you are, unlike you, I don't prejudge, and I try to know the facts before I make a judgement, and no matter how unpopular it maybe I stand with the facts and the truth. I'm man enough to say to one's face exactly what i've written on here, that is not because i'm some seven foot stallion of a man, infact i'm very average in height and build and Zingari will tell you my penis size is also, and i'm not afriad of the consequences. Are you man enough to call me a SIKH terrorist that's is in comparison to the real ira and can you to my face justify it, infront of the world!!! We all know the answer..................
MarkDeVries Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 How about if they all come to our country, they ALL adjust to our culture and lifestyle? If they don't like it, they don't have to be here. I bet if you asked most of them if they would serve for this country in Iraq, (assuming it turned into a huge war) they wouldn't. In Turkey or whatever asian country you like, they don't exactly allow churches to be built, because over their they have to adjust to their culture etc. It just annoys me that they decide whatever they want, when, they shouldn't. All the people who fought in the War's saved the country and they all got let in through the back door. Rant officially over.

Dr The Singh Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 You had me up to there but now I'm slightly worried. It does sound funny!!
davieG Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 It does sound funny!! Blimey it makes noises as well - I bet that impresses the girls!
Dr The Singh Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Blimey it makes noises as well - I bet that impresses the girls! I rarely get that far with the girls to show them dG these days, but i'll gladly show you though!!
davieG Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I rarely get that far with the girls to show them dG these days, but i'll gladly show you though!! If only, but you know sound doesn't have much effect on me - shame another opportunity missed.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 [usual bigotry and bullsh!t] Of course, your London friends, being as ignorant as you are, would not have known that their city already has a Gandhi statue, outside the college where he studied law.
Dr The Singh Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Of course, your London friends, being as ignorant as you are, would not have known that their city already has a Gandhi statue, outside the college where he studied law. <_< How pathetic, for one there not my London friends, they are people I just met, and i'm surprised you only called them ignorants, and your welcome to explain!! Actually, i'm sure I can track them down and you can call them ignorants to there faces.................................coward!!!!! Duh, are you stupid, there comments were 'what links, does Gandhi have to Leicester', which is non...............the fooker studied at that college, so there's a link....................so what's your fooking point!!! Again, Ultra, you call anyone that doesn't have the same opinions as you as ignorants, but as always, you outwit yourself!!!!! Explain, Ultra, why am i a bigot, you fookin can't because it's not true, i've already kicked your arse on this subject, i'm more then welcome to bring up the FACTS and more and do it again!!!
Master Fox Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 There's a Ghandi statue in Washington DC too. I have a picture of me standing on it while very drunk.
Babylon Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 'WTF does Gandhi have to do with Leicester, no wonder the whites are getting more pissed off and considering the BNP, all you see these days are asians wanting to stamp there own identity on this nation..................... Exactly my argument all along. The council made this out to be for everyone, something to celebrate our diversity and how we have all integrated in Leicester. When in reality it's a great big symbol of "this is our area", and does nothing more than to increase segregation. I'm sure the councils end game is to have a "little india". If you remember we had this conversation some time ago when a paper mentioned leicester / little india. They will wank themselves silly thinking it'll be something like "china town" in London and it will attract lots of tourists, but it's too isolated from the city centre to be that. If people had been honest about their intentions I'd have more respect for it, as it is they dressed it up with a lot of nonsense PC/PR bullshit. If they wanted a symbol of diversity then it should have been in the city centre and should have been something blacks, whites and asians can admire.

Mate, there are Turkish, Lebanese, Egyptians, Jordanians Christians etc. Not everyone in those countries are Muslims. There are enough Greek-Orthodox Cathedrals and Catholic churches and whatever else in those countries. In Egypt, 10% of the population are Christians. We don't even have that amount of Muslims here.

Very true. All the countries you listed have significant Christian populations, relatively free to worship. The only countries where Christians are likely to suffer any sort of persecution are Saudi Arabia, Iran and wartorn nations like Afghanistan and Iraq. But guess what? Life isn't exactly a barrel of fun for Muslims in those countries either because they are either at war or governed by authoritarian regimes.

Yep Babs, i'm getting sick and tired of 'sugar coating' and being PC, just so we don't offend or be seem to be racist\ignorant!!! Why would our city need a statue, ignoring the facts about Gandhi, he is the 'father of the nation' of india not Britain!! Still, I accept the will of the majority, and with Leicester having a very large hindu population, you would be more likely to be outnumbered!! But, there's nothing wrong with a honest debate, the statue IMO has done more bad then good, people are looking at that statue and thinking it was allowed to be done 'for the asians', 'oh it's in belgrave, so gives a flying fook, it's full of asians anyway and they love gandhi'!!! Asian's from my descent, or those who know the facts, think it's some kind of laughing joke, and ask WHY???? Many questions have been asked, and many FACTS have been shown, everyone can make there mind up, I just hope people forget about this statue like many others!!!
