maddog Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Clem: Criminal if we go down by Bill Anderson Leicester City skipper Stephen Clemence is determined he will not be part of a history-squad. City are in a real battle to avoid dropping into the third tier of the league for the first time. No-one, least of all the current crop, want to have that stigma attached to them. He said: "It would be criminal if this club went down and there is not one player in the dressing room, and me as captain, who wants to be part of a team that takes Leicester City down. "The mood is definitely determined and no-one wants a relegation on their CV, especially with a big club like Leicester City. "The support we have been getting with our position in the table has been unbelievable. "There are not many games left now and the most frustrating thing is the up-and-down performances. "Consistent is what we haven't been this season, but we have got an opportunity now with the games left to make sure we stay in the division - and the matches that are left we are more than capable of winning." Next up is the classic six-pointer against S****horpe at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. They are not as strong opponents as Hull last weekend, but they are also battling for their safety and City know what they need to do. Clemence said: "It is all right saying it, we have to do it. "I know the supporters don't want to hear us saying we are doing our best, they want us to be out there doing it - and we face a must-win game against S****horpe. "The big crowd and pressure have been mentioned before. "But there are players in the dressing room with Premier League experience and, if you want to play for a big club like this, pressure goes with it. "We have not handled it well up to now and I think we have to prepare ourselves for a very tough game. "There will be nerves, from the fans and the players on both sides. "But we will go out there and try to make sure we handle that pressure better than S****horpe." This scenario was far from Clemence's mind when he arrived at City, having led Birmingham to the Premier League, and the hope was he would be leading another promotion crusade, not a survival battle. He said: "I was expecting a lot better, of course, but I am part of this team and I accept responsibility along with everyone else. "I have not been consistent myself in my own performances but hopefully we can do okay as a team. "I didn't play in the West Brom win but I was there with the rest of our supporters and we had done it before - here against Norwich and at Bristol City, two very good teams. "So we are either on fire or a damp squib, and that inconsistency must change. We need to put it right and it is only us who can do it when we step over that white line." Usual Clemence talking usual Bullshit. Why can't he just shut up and actually play well in 1 match He is the main under-performer for me this season and is one of the reasons we are where we are.
Corky Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Its alright, most of the team will be on their way to other clubs in the summer, while we follow our team to Yeovil, Peterborough and Hartlepool. Thanks Clem, thanks a lot!
Asha Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 He's saying all the right things, but it's bollocks if they don't transmit it to the pitch. Also, Clemence is obviously coming out with lots of 'captainy' statements, aiming to stamp his authority and make sure he plays and is captain next game.
Messi Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Hopefully 'the criminals' would go to prison at least we might have some good players next season But on a serious note the players and the manager spend too much time with the press, personally if i was the manager i would not allow anyone to speak to press if we were in our current situation, they should get there head down, work hard and reward all of our fans for the fantastic support all season
Thracian Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 I've nothing against what he says but, like Holloway, I'd rather he was silent outside the dressing room and simply focused on delivery. As the advert said: "Just Do It".
Corky Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 For years now the team has been media-friendly, telling people what they want to hear, but never delivering on the pitch. Now it has come to a point where people are fed up with empty words and promises, we know it is all PR friendly. The manager and players have got to stop talking to the press so much, get their heads down, don't make promises and do their talking on that mudheap of a pitch. This club is not a third division club, it hasn't been for 124 years, and I hope it won't be next year as well.

I completely agree with that. I wonder whether we might be able to muster a few wins if they just shut the feck up and get on with it. Never gonna happen though sadly
Arkie Bennett Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 If someone is getting concerned about how his CV appears, he's expecting to be looking for a new employer soon.
Fox You Forest Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 When i saw the word criminal i though it was going to be some insight into the life of Elvis Hammond.
teblin Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Thing that gets me, He mentions his CV. He's not bothered in the end as he won't be here to play in league 1 will he? why does it matter to him if we go down, think thats the prob with alot of them they won't be here is the worst does happen.
Corky Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Thing is, most of the players aren't fans of the club. Stearman and Mattock will be hurting, they've grown up like us, but the others haven't, and I don't think they know how proud we are to be of the few never to have been outside the top divisions. The players probably won't have to face the misery of League 1 football, we will. We don't deserve that. At the end of the day they can move on, we can't, it's in our blood, it's our life, and thats why it hurts so much.
Vestan Pance Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Can we have an open top bus tour of the city at the end of this record-breaking relegation season? Please Mr Clemence sit at the front so I can get an easy shot in with this bag of sh*t.

Raj Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Clem...talking bollox! Just shut the fcuk up you boring crap bastard and keep us up. Then talk. Then fcuk off.
Simi Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Wow. This is something new?! "What are they supposed to say" How about **** all. I'd actually prefer it if they shut up completely instead of feeding us the same old bollocks week in week out.
The Reverend Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 I've nothing against what he says but, like Holloway, I'd rather he was silent outside the dressing room and simply focused on delivery. As the advert said: "Just Do It". Isthat your phrase of the week Thracian?!
vanfox12 Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 There is a downside to all of this of course if the manager and players refuse to talk to the press this pisses them off and all they get is negative press regardless of how well they are doing. However i do agree players especially should keep there mouths shut as they are the ones who have got us in this mess in the first place.
Tommy G Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 So predictable Clemence?? You fu cking tool. Pull the other one
Matt Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008  Do your talking on the pitch...That goes for every player. Its only you (the players) who can do anything about it, No matter how good our support is it won't win games.
Father Ted Posted 27 March 2008 Posted 27 March 2008 **** off Clemence - it's your fuc*ing fault we're in this mess T*at. And now he feels he's gonna lose his captains armband he starts speaking Nobody cares either because you won't be playing in the last 6 games!
