Stevosevic Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Mine would have to be World Cup 98 mainly because it was the first World Cup i remember watching, but also because it was lit up by moments of magic. Owen's goal, Bergkamp's Goal, Zidane in his prime, the whole Ronaldo saga etc... Fantastic. What's yours?
Sparky Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 I loved Italia 90 , i thought it was a superb World cup starting with Cameroon beating Argentina in the 1st game .
Uncle Albert Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 World Cup 2002 is my favourite. Rivaldo made it for me.
Guest Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 1990. First one where I was realy old enough to appreciate the football
Corky Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 World Cup 1998. The first World Cup I remember, and it was such a great competition. Owen's goal was amazing, and at that point I really felt we could go on and win the Cup.

Corky Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 I may have asked this before, but what part of Norwich are you from mate? The Heigham area, near Earlham. Live about 2/3 miles from the city centre. Hope that helps

Fat Ron Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 1990, For Gazza, the Semi Finals, Maradonna, Cameroon, Schillachi, Klinnsmann, Voller, Gullit, David Platts volley against Belguim, Gazza teaching the dutch a Cryuff turn, Paul parkers deflected own goal against Germany , but most of all... Roger Milla and his funky moves
SamL Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 I was only about 7 in 1998 so I don't really remember that one. Out of the two I have memories of, 2002 was probably my faviorite. If I'm honest, I didn't think the 2006 World Cup was that great.
Mack Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Italia 90 We almost lived the dream The three Tenors were great also.
Koke Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 USA 94' was the first World Cup I watched. And we weren't in it.
Tevez Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 2002 was awesome, especially going into the centre of Leicester town and watching it on the big screen.
Samilktray Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Cant say any world cups ive seen from 98 onwards have wowed me to be honest.
LeeCovFox Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 USA '94 for me, because it was my first. The excitement of my dad waiting for my mum to go to bed before he would come and wake me up and sit downstairs with him for the later games was immense at the time. Salenko's five goal haul against Cameroon. Houghton's stunner against Italy. Saudi Arabia in the second round. An outstanding Nigerian team knocked out by Roberto Baggio's magic at the same stage. Maradona's drug shame. Romario and Bebeto, Hristo Stoichkov, Gheorge Hagi, Letchkov's diving header against Germany to put Bulgaria into the semis with Brazil, Italy and Sweden. And of course Brazil's first World Cup win in 24 years. Great memories.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 86 and the hand of god, we were playing well and except for blatant cheating and sublime genius from Maradona we could have won it that year
Raj Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Mexico 86 or was it Italy 90???(...might even be 82 ) the one with Paolo Rossi in it. BRILLIANT!!!!!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Mexico 86 or was it Italy 90???(...might even be 82 )the one with Paolo Rossi in it. BRILLIANT!!!!! Paolo Rossi was 82 Raj - If you mean the one where he got the Golden Boot Linekar won it in 86, Schillaci (I know what you're thinking... who?) in 1990 But who has the most goals in one world cup final?
Wycombe Fox Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Mexico 1970 I was only 7 but I can remember the game v Brazil and the quarter final v West Germany when we were 2-0 up only to give the game away 3-2. Strange substitutions in that game by Sir Alf if I remember correctly. The Brazil team that year was awesome! The best team yet!
Ric Flair Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 Italia '90 was the reason I started liking football. It was a superb footballing spectacle and i've bought the dvd's (about 8 hours worth) of extensive highlights from it, which looking back at now makes it even more special. 2002 World Cup was quality as well, some good matches played, but the piss ups were the best ever. 7am kick-offs in the boozer, hang-over kicking in by early evening and powering through it with more ale. Brilliant. Some great memories from that summer. Put a lot of birds away as well, bonus.
