dandannieldanok Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 SourceMidfielder David Bell has begun pre-season training back with Luton Town, having finished last term on loan at Leicester City. The 24-year-old was expected to join the Foxes on a permanent basis, but their relegation to League One put paid to that deal. Bell told the Luton News: "The Leicester thing was on a permanent basis, but on the basis they stayed up. So it's not really a big shock to be back at Luton. "I still kept in contact with the lads when I was at Leicester and I'm just glad to be back. "It's very important to get a good start this year as it looks like we are going to be on minus points. "We've got to get some wins under our belts as early as we can." Surely, despite this interview, he and Luton believe he isn't going to stay. He ain't great but he better than League 2.
SamL Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Surely, despite this interview, he and Luton believe he isn't going to stay. He ain't great but he better than League 2. I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves before the end of the summer. I think he could cut it in the Championship so I think he'll leave.
jamie_18 Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 we should sign him up!!!!! he will be the best winger in the league.
Darkzzz_ Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 I am suprised we have not yet moved for him, i would be even more suprised if he started the season at Luton.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 Can see someone like Cov or Preston signing him up to be honest.
dandannieldanok Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 he will be the best winger in the league. I think he'd be better suited to central midfielder, because he isn't really quick or enough or confident enough to cross the ball to be a really good winger.
jamie_18 Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 I think he'd be better suited to central midfielder, because he isn't really quick or enough or confident enough to cross the ball to be a really good winger. nope he will be best winger in the league he was 1 of our top players when he joined he beat players got decent balls into the box just that we had no decent strikers 2 finish off
Webbo Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 nope he will be best winger in the league he was 1 of our top players when he joined he beat players got decent balls into the box just that we had no decent strikers 2 finish off He was good running at people, his crossing was poor though. I hope we don't sign him, we've got enough wingers on the books.
SamL Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 He was good running at people, his crossing was poor though. I hope we don't sign him, we've got enough wingers on the books. Couldn't argue with that. I think he diddled about on the ball too much and should have crossed much earlier. He worked hard though and always looked to get to the byline, just a shame he didn't shoot very often.
jamie_18 Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 He was good running at people, his crossing was poor though. I hope we don't sign him, we've got enough wingers on the books. that is shocking!!!!!!!!!! david bell was 1 of if not our best player when he joined us on loan milan sign him up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dames Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 We could do alot worse than sign David Bell. And where has all this 'Loads of Wingers' nonsense came from? Last time i Checked we had 1 Right Winger and 1 Left Winger (Considering Porter plays in the hole according to his biggest fan )
DB11 Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 Can see someone like Cov or Preston signing him up to be honest. Or Barnsley at this rate!! He was good running at people, his crossing was poor though. I hope we don't sign him, we've got enough wingers on the books. :w00t:

That wouldnt happen to be the clueless Daggers or Thracian would it!! Porter playing Centre Mid or the hole, ive never hered anything so insane!!! You are sort of right Dames, we do have 4 wingers but only Gradel or Dyer are 1st team material though. Beswick a good long shot at a go at left wing though, maybe a bit soon mind!!

Cobbo Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Really quite rate Bell...would be an excellent aquisition but I can see the Champ clubs coming in. Maybe Tunchev could have a word about the bigger picture? Pity for Hume that he didn't hear about this bigger picture too.
whitlock Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Skysports.com understands Norwich are closing on a double swoop for David Bell and Dejan Stefanovic. Fulham defender Stefanovic and Luton midfielder Bell are both believed to be undergoing medicals at Carrow Road. Canaies boss Glenn Roeder has moved for experienced performer Stefanovic as he is short of options in defence. Fulham are willing to offload Stefanovic as he is well down the pecking order at Craven Cottage. The Canaries have been chasing the highly-rated Bell all summer and have now struck a deal with the Hatters. The League Two strugglers have been forced to offload Bell to ease their financial problems and he is expected to be the first of many to leave Kenilworth Road before the start of the season. A number of clubs have been linked with Bell, but Norwich have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal in the region of £450,000 plus future add-ons with Luton. Bell has now been given permission to hold talks with Norwich and he is thought to be currently undergoing a medical at Carrow Road. Stefanovic and Bell are set to bring Norwich's signings so far this summer to four following the arrivals of Wes Hoolahan and Sammy Clingan
dandannieldanok Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Good luck to him, decent player, but with Gradel, Adams, Dyer and Porter on our books I'm not at all disappointed he's gone elsewhere.
bigneville Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Good luck to him, decent player, but with Gradel, Adams, Dyer and Porter on our books I'm not at all disappointed he's gone elsewhere. Have to agree 100% here. Would choose to have the above 4 over David Bell every day of the week.
Daggers Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 I bet they don't serenade him with disco in Norfolk. I bet disco hasn't even reached Norfolk yet - I bet they're still listening to Bix Beiderbeck and the Big Band Sound.
Thracian Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Good luck to him, decent player, but with Gradel, Adams, Dyer and Porter on our books I'm not at all disappointed he's gone elsewhere. Absolutely. The guy's just not needed.
Babylon Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Have to agree 100% here.Would choose to have the above 4 over David Bell every day of the week. And how often have you seen Gradel, Adams, Dyer play?
bigneville Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 And how often have you seen Gradel, Adams, Dyer play? I've seen Lloyd Dyer on several occasions on televised matches. Always looks a threat in the games i've seen him. I've only seen Max Gradel once or twice, but seen many a highlight of him. Enough to convince me that he will be a success at the level. Nicky Adams, I must admit I don't know too much about, but from reports on here, seems like a player with a lot of potential. On the other hand, I watched David Bell play on several occasions last season. Looked like a player with decent feet, but lacked the pace or crossing ability to be a threatening winger. Like i said, he is a decent player, and no doubt now, will go and be a success elsewhere. But to me, from having watched 4 out of 5 players in question, have no qualms in not having David Bell here next season.
