lildave3 Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 Also, the summers biggest move seems to have slipped under the radar. Mehmet Aurelio to Betis.
SamL Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 Also, the summers biggest move seems to have slipped under the radar.Mehmet Aurelio to Betis. I hadn't heard an awful lot about him before the Euros, but I was impressed with him when I saw him play. At 30, he's just about at his peak and he's got a good few years left in him. Could be a good signing for them if he repeats some of his performances at the Euros.

Father Ted Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 So you're calling him a diver because Mourinho and Warnock called him one?Mourinho and Warnock? Seriously. No, I'm calling him a diver because I've seen him do it many times before, and yes, I have been to Specsavers before you ask!
Alexikokopops Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 A. So does Johnson.B. He's not a diver. But he is though. He scored most of his goals for Palace when they were in the Prem by throwing himself on the floor to win penalties.

Just because you win alot of penalties or get fouled alot, it doesn't mean that you're a diver.

Alexikokopops Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 Well it appears that I've misplaced them, as well as my Andy Johnson Diving Scrapbook AND Journal. Looks like we'll just have to have a difference of opinions.

But if he was that much of a diver, there would be some sort of youtube compilation or at least a clip.
Alexikokopops Posted 24 July 2008 Posted 24 July 2008 But if he was that much of a diver, there would be some sort of youtube compilation or at least a clip. I'm at work so can't get on YouTube. I'm not saying he's a diver in the same sense as, say, your stereotypical continental forward who falls over at the lightest touch, but he does go down that little bit too easily a little too often for my liking. Maybe I'm still a bit biased since that season when he won 7 out of Palace's 8 penalties which then heaily distorted his scoring stats, but irrational opinions is half the fun of football. Let's just agree that Gerrard is a big diving scouse willy puller.

Jonezy Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Stoke has a bid for Fulop accepted. They are going to get themselves a pretty good goalkeeper then....
lildave3 Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Stoke has a bid for Fulop accepted. They are going to get themselves a pretty good goalkeeper then.... Wasn't he only 2nd choice for the brief period he was there last year?
Simi Posted 25 July 2008 Author Posted 25 July 2008 Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has joined Blackburn for £3.5m, signing a five-year contract.
The Stig Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Link Replacing Friedel then, should be a good signing for both parties.
Joe. Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Is it? Blackburn have replaced a very good goalkeeper with a distinctly average on. Robinson was finally uncovered as the real goalkeeper he is last season an was overrated for way too long.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 I fear for Blackburn this season if the lose all of their best players who've made them so successful and replace them with sub standard ones. There are several English keepers I rate over Robinson. Chris Kirkland for example, wouldn't be out of their price range.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 I think Chris Kirkland is well over rated. 10 clean sheets since Christmas with Titus Bramble in the defence says otherwise.

He had a bad patch, but I'm sure will be back to his best.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Robinson is postionally one of the worst keepers I've ever seen. His reactions are also sub-standard.
