Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Are Panathanaikos in any European competition? If so, I think that the experience could benefit him, but it'll dent his chances of ever getting back into the England set-up.
Jack Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 El-Hadji Diouf to Sunderland for £2.5million. Good signing for them I think, scores his fair amount of goals. He is a bit of a dick though, but im sure Keano wont stand for any of that.
Joe. Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Sunderland have got to be pushing for at least mid-table this season surely?
Jack Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Sunderland have got to be pushing for at least mid-table this season surely? Looks that way, they have made some good signings lately.
SamL Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Sunderland have got to be pushing for at least mid-table this season surely? It shows how far they've come really, how they've managed to attract these signings. They had a fairly strong season last season so have got to be aiming for at least mid-table, maybe higher.

Wasn't it three points that saved them, which I wouldn't consider a 'strong' season. Then again, at least they gave it a go every week rather than flailing and getting gang raped liked Derby.

They reached their objective which was to stave off relegation. They finished 15th which I thought was pretty good for them. In other stories, Robbie Keane is expected to have a medical at Liverpool either today or tomorrow. Also, Andy Johnson is expected to move to Fulham for £12million.
Simi Posted 28 July 2008 Author Posted 28 July 2008 Keane will still be sitting on the bench at Liverpool unless Benitez is going to change dramatically how he plays.
lildave3 Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 18 Million is ridiculous for a 28 year old Robbie Keane.

Wasn't it three points that saved them, which I wouldn't consider a 'strong' season. Then again, at least they gave it a go every week rather than flailing and getting gang raped liked Derby. It was their home form that kept them up. I think they actually had the 2nd worst away form...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 18 Million is ridiculous for a 28 year old Robbie Keane. But £12 million is an even more ridiculous amount for useless, lightweight, diving tosspot Andy Johnson.
Jack Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 But £12 million is an even more ridiculous amount for useless, lightweight, diving tosspot Andy Johnson. That is way too much for him.
lildave3 Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 But £12 million is an even more ridiculous amount for useless, lightweight, diving tosspot Andy Johnson. Yes, 12 million is a lot and ridiculous. But I do disagree with the useless, lightweight, diving tosspot comment. As expected really.
Ric Flair Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Off to Liverpool for £18 million. Either Ramos is a penis, or he has a top quality replacement lined up. Rumours of them going for David Villa, but surely he'd rather go to a club playing Champions League football. Strange goings on. Great signing for Liverpool though, him and Torres is a very good partnership.

Ric Flair Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Nobody else rate Robbie Keane then? I know £18 million appears to be a lot, but his goal scoring record is superb. I think he will fit in with the way Liverpool play as well. Mustard.
billyfox1 Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 But £12 million is an even more ridiculous amount for useless, lightweight, diving tosspot Andy Johnson. but not quite as ridiculous as £1.5m for steve howard

He is guaranteed to get you goals im not too sure if he'll fit into Livepool's style of play.
davieG Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 £57 mill has now changed hands for him. whatever did Cov do with the £13mill they got, wasted it like we did the Heskey money.

I really do think he is a great player and Berbatov is a good player because of Keane, he feeds so well off of the hard work of Keane.

Chopra, Etuhu, Diouf, Richardson and Stokes are hardly attractive signings are they? Strong season? Rofl.

Richardson - an attractive signing at the time. Tainio? I agree, they won't as strong as people are making out but a bit harsh when questioning the signings. They're not bad.
