Floating Fox Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 It's just a ploy to make people think that more have been sold. I'd guestimate at around 6-7k being sold so far. Don't know why anyone would bother, but its a solid effort.
SamL Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 6000 This is the best bit of spin from the OS yet! Propaganda I tell ya. I think they're hopeful more than anything. Their thinking is that people will rush to buy one as the deadline fast approaches.
MC Prussian Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Just another example of how clueless and desperate this institution has become. I'm sad to see Leicester City FC steadily decline into the abyss of the infamous group of "laughing stock clubs".
shen Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Just another example of how clueless and desperate this institution has become.I'm sad to see Leicester City FC steadily decline into the abyss of the infamous group of "laughing stock clubs". The 'decline' you're talking about is happening in football everywhere. And I'm even too young to have experienced the "real" days of football, when money was not all-conquering yet...
Leicester Lass Posted 29 May 2008 Author Posted 29 May 2008 To be fair, as stupid as our ticket office can be, I really can't see them marking up the figure by 4,000 tickets. I would expect we've sold closer to 10,000 than 6,000.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Does it really matter how many have been sold? Do they really think if they say they've sold X amount, people will go 'oh I'll have one as well then'? When I bought mine they might not have sold any for all I know. It doesn't really come into it - there's not much chance of them selling out, is there?

I would expect we've sold closer to 10,000 than 6,000. I'm as cynical as they come but you could be right, they may well have the 6000 quoted on the database as sold but there could be a fair number waiting to be processed as a result of emails and phone calls. The person who quoted 6000 may not have that info.

I vowed not to buy mine until they can convince me they've sold 9973 STs.
The People's Hero Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I'm not buying one until Gareth McAuley is sold. And even then I won't buy one because I live in Maidstone.
hairy Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Got a letter this morning saying they are sorting the corporate packages out in the next three weeks so the figures, be they 6000 or 10000, dont yet include any corporate tickets so you would expect to add 2000 to 3000 when they do.
The People's Hero Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Maybe they are making all the players buy season tickets too in order to be admitted to the stadium to play the games?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I'm not buying one until Gareth McAuley is sold. And even then I won't buy one because I live in Maidstone. You're just playing hard to get. Bernie would WALK from Maidstone to the Walkers

It doesn't really come into it - there's not much chance of them selling out, is there? All I'm saying is that the line of communication does not work properly within the club, as one source tells you this, then another one comes up with a different number. THAT's just poor. I mean, how hard is it to be honest and issue the same statement within the same institution of such a size or to give out proper, proven and counter-read information?
Simi Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 So by reading that article, I'd guess we'd sold about 7,000.
The People's Hero Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 You're just playing hard to get. Bernie would WALK from Maidstone to the Walkers As long as he doesn't walk TO Maidstone, I don't mind.
Joe. Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Yeah doesn't sound too bad actually. This figure is likely to rise fairly slowly afterwards when the price goes up again I think though.
Daggers Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Trust Chairman, Ian Bason, said “From the feedback received so far it’s seems as though over half of the current Season Ticket holders will not renew unless prices are reduced”
