norfolkfox222 Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Im off to Tenerife next week! Really cant wait! Just shit scared of flying and it seems to get worse each time i go on a plane!! Anyone know anything to help me with this xx
MikeyT Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Not a clue as i shit myself at flying as well or indeed heights in general!
Koke Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Don't take the window seat. Middle one is alright, but the gangway one is the best. Downside to that is that you get all these people poking their arse on your face whenever they are walking by, so you can't get any sort of consistent sleep going. It's only Tenerife I know, so you'll be alright. Not much of help, I know, but that's the best I can do.
Bert Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Just be calm and relaxed. Remember 1000's of flights go out every single day, and it's very rare that something happens. The cabin crew are very well trained, so if you're really struggling then just talk to them and they will help you as much as they can. Try and sit next to someone who is strong willed and not so worried about flying. Things will be fine, it's the safest way of traveling.
coale39 Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Watch Lost...... Seriously tho, its the safest form of travel!
Raj Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Im off to Tenerife next week! Really cant wait! Just shit scared of flying and it seems to get worse each time i go on a plane!! Anyone know anything to help me with this xx Dont be a gaylord. Flyings well nice. Its like sort of being in the air and free....unless a wing falls off then your fcuked! Hope that helps. P.S Enjoy playa de las Americas!!!!
C-man Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Just remember that there's less chance of you being in a plane accident than winning the lottery.
Zingari Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 only get worried if there is a nun and a sick child on board
Monk Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I used to have a fairly bad fear of flying but I've got over it in stages really. The first thing to do is to look out of the window at the airport. At Heathrow there are flights coming and going every minute, multiply that by all the airports in the world at any one time, you realise the probability of things going wrong are tiny. To get over the noises and sensations there are a couple of things, first of all buy MS Flight Simulator and play it for a while it really gives you a feel for how things work. I also tried to understand all of the noises on flights so nothing is unusual.
Durnerz Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 The only thing less likely than surviving the crash is the coastguard hearing the whistle on your lifejacket
the_bowman Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Just remember that there's less chance of you being in a plane accident than winning the lottery. So if it all goes horrible wrong, buy a lottery ticket!
Head Honcho Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Im off to Tenerife next week! Really cant wait! Just shit scared of flying and it seems to get worse each time i go on a plane!! Anyone know anything to help me with this xx I too hate the thought of flying-not good for someone who flies about a dozen times a year Once I'm up there I'm ok though-Came back off my hols last week though and all I could think of when I got seated on the plane was whether the engines would fall off of the wings or not
Matt Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I love flying! Although 21 Hours + on a plane does get abit tedious...I've had enough after 7 hours. Most people hate it but I also really like Airplane food.
shen Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I love flying!Although 21 Hours + on a plane does get abit tedious...I've had enough after 7 hours. Most people hate it but I also really like Airplane food. you are weird, young man!
Steven Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 you are weird, young man! Depends on the airline and class you fly.
Ashley Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Just be calm about it, take plenty of sucking sweats so your ears dont pop. Plane's are 100% safe. Take some sleeping pills so you can just go sleep on the flight?
AmericanScott Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I hate flying too. It is some class A scary poo poo. Ask our forum's very own member (Unit) how his flight to Spain was the other week
Unabomber Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I love flying, went to New York a few years ago on New Years Day really early and the flight was really quiet so they upgraded us and let us fly first class. That was a great flight
AmericanScott Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I love flying, went to New York a few years ago on New Years Day really early and the flight was really quiet so they upgraded us and let us fly first class. That was a great flight I hate flying home (New York). It takes 7-8 hours most of the time because of head winds (giggity). Coming back is like 5-7 hours depending on a nice tail wind.
Fox You Forest Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Im not afraid of flying but taking off and landings do make me slightly nervous, Not quite as nervous as when i see the price of a pint at East Midlands airport though.
Floating Fox Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I had a flying lesson for my birthday and actually took control of a plane. Never really understood having a phobia of it tbh..
