SamL Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 just seen on skysports he is havin his medical at ipswich There's a whole thread about it.
kyleolly Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 No suprise really and he wont be the hardest player to replace as long as we dont bring in Darren Moore. Hopefully we can get atleast a million for him. Good luck in suffolk Gareth hope you enjoy your time with the country inbred bumkins.
DanTheFox07 Posted 17 June 2008 Author Posted 17 June 2008 There's a whole thread about it. yeah between mcauley and stearman. not just mcauley!
SamL Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 yeah between mcauley and stearman. not just mcauley! Fair play. The thread is pretty much about Mcauley moving to Ipswich though.
lildave3 Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 eek. Interesting to see who replaces him. If it's Darren Moore i'll throw a hissy fit.
SamL Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 I'm not sure why Milan has accepted a bid, he should have left it to whoever the new manager is. It's a nice profit on a player we signed on a free, but who would replace him? Could we lure someone better? I don't think so.
DanTheFox07 Posted 17 June 2008 Author Posted 17 June 2008 Weve already got his replacement, step forward Mr Harry Worley!

Give the new guy cash for players.

But your right, doesnt bode well for new manager does it Milan selling off players! but in all honesty were making a profit and can put the money towards a striker instead! Oh thats once we get rid of howard and dj campbell!!!

Perhaps he has a clause whereby we must accept a bid over a certain amount and perhaps Ipswich made a bid of that amount so we had no choice?
Dr The Singh Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Perhaps he has a clause whereby we must accept a bid over a certain amount and perhaps Ipswich made a bid of that amount so we had no choice? 'release clause'!!!
ASH17LCFC Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 'release clause'!!! Yep, in his new contract he signed like 4 months ago. I didn't rate him anyway. Only good in the air but on the floor was rubbish. Just hoofed it all the time.
Raj Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 He didnt want to play in LG1. He was always going to leave once we went down. More will go too....

It's a nice profit on a player we signed on a free, but who would replace him? Could we lure someone better? I don't think so. It's because Milan doesn't need the money because he is pumping so much of his own cash into the club. Err...hang on...something isn't balancing here. Oh. My. God! Maybe Milan isn't pumping any money into the club and the access to credit has been curtailed by the credit crunch, the reduced income stream due to relegation and the fact that he has already hit his limit of borrowing against the club's assets?

Worryingly you might have something there

davieG Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Source Town Close to Completing Signing of Leicester's McAuley Tuesday 17 Jun 2008 14:43:49 by Phil TWTD understands that Town are close to completing a deal to sign central defender Gareth McAuley from Leicester City. The Northern Irish international is believed to be undergoing a medical at Portman Road this afternoon. Town first moved for McAuley back in January when they had three offers turned down. The Foxes refused another bid earlier in the summer, but the Blues continued their pursuit of the 28-year-old and earlier this week it was reported that that a fee of £1.5 million had been agreed between the clubs. McAuley, 6ft 3in tall, joined Leicester on a free transfer from Lincoln in the summer of 2006 after his contract at Sincil Bank came to an end. Capped 10 times by Northern Ireland, McAuley signed a new contract at Leicester in February aimed at keeping him at the Walkers Stadium until 2011, however, it is rumoured that a clause in that deal allowed him to leave for a fee at a pre-agreed level now that Leicester have been relegated.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Very good price for a very average player in all honesty, he might have to learn to pass on the floor at Ipswich.
Joe. Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 I for one am very disappointed to see him go, but I don't blame him at all for it. He's a Championship player.
Daggers Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 See ya' McCauley - sometimes you were OK, sometimes you were shit and you're not at the top of the list of players I'd like to see replaced...but I can't see this as anything other than a start of the fire-sale. He was tied under contract, we didn't have to sell him...I simply can't see how this move strengthens us and lends itself to us getting promoted. Maybe the money will be used to buy more players But I doubt it.
