Tommy G Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 agreed he did look lost but thrown into a game whereby we had to win to stay up and stoke had to win to go up it wouldnt have been very easy for the lad! i think he needs somebody to believe in him and thats what i will expect from the new mananger. i dont want these young lads brought in for one game, do well, puts them in another afterwards, dont do as well, and then never will we see them again! To be fair he had his chance but he didn't look interested. He didnt want the ball, when he got it he passed it four yards and his positioning was shocking. Considering the importance of the game he should have put 1000% in, then again the same goes for the rest of the wasters bar a few. I'd like to see him given a run of 3/4 games, then we'll see if hes any good. He shouldn't be our 1st choice CB right now though.
davieG Posted 18 June 2008 Author Posted 18 June 2008 Worley played poor against Stoke, infact he was shocking. agreed he did look lost but thrown into a game whereby we had to win to stay up and stoke had to win to go up it wouldnt have been very easy for the lad! i think he needs somebody to believe in him and thats what i will expect from the new mananger. i dont want these young lads brought in for one game, do well, puts them in another afterwards, dont do as well, and then never will we see them again! On the one hand he was playing out of position (thank you Holloway) having said that I've seen him play twice for the reserves at CB and he was no better, certainly not Championship level. I can't comment on Division 3 standards because I've not seen much of it - Yet!
DanTheFox07 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 They seem to think he's better than he is. Good bit of business I think, replace him with a solid younger CB and I will be very happy. A certain harry worley will do I think
Asha Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Good deal, in terms of possible signings, got to look at Walsall, players such as Anthony Gerrard, Ishmel Demontagnac etc could maybe fill in at this level - although Worley would hopefully be good enough.

They have been poor. Anthony Gerrard is just average and Demontagnac is a reserve player at best.
Tommy G Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I find it amusing that people think Mr Worley will step up to the plate. Surely sticking James Chambers at RB and sticking sticks in the middle would be a much better option.
Asha Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 .Surely sticking James Chambers at RB and sticking sticks in the middle would be a much better option. Something on your mind?
Brainy Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 They have been poor. Anthony Gerrard is just average and Demontagnac is a reserve player at best. They finished mid-table in their first season late year, so thats a bit harsh. I'd take Gerrard though, so what if he's average? We're going to have to settle for 'average' players this season.

Surely sticking James Chambers at RB and sticking sticks in the middle would be a much better option. Why not? You don't know, he might wake up from his Chelsea nightmare and discover his real potential Will Chambers still be here? Although, sticking Stearz at centre-back is a good option
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Worley played poor against Stoke, infact he was shocking. Worley played in central midfield (thanks IH). He is not a central midfielder. He is a centre half. Dont base your assessment on him on one game in which he was played out of position....
Uncle Albert Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Harry Worley will be the best replacement for McAuley I think, we need to start building a young team and his performance against Stoke suggested he was ready.
Glenfield Fox Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 They seem to think he's better than he is. Good bit of business I think, replace him with a solid younger CB and I will be very happy. Damn good business if it was £1.1M straight cash deal. Doubt it was though, there's usually strings attached. Be nice if replacement could pass a ball as well as defend. Too much to ask in league 1 ?
Dames Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 How we got 1 million for him is unbeliveable. He had a decent game against Stoke but usually when Kisnorbo isn't beside him he looks worse than average.
Katy Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Worley played in central midfield (thanks IH). He is not a central midfielder. He is a centre half. Dont base your assessment on him on one game in which he was played out of position.... It wasn't the best game to judge him against was it, he looked scared stiff. Although what do I know, I had my head in my hands for the majority of that game
Koke Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 It says 1.5 million in some articles Either way, thank you and good bye.
Jack Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I rated him but he's never worth 1.1mil, we need to get another cb in now.
morris1234 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 like i always say everybody is entitled to their own opinion and are all valid as thats what a forums for but whoever it was, are you seriously telling me that after one game being played out of position and maybe a few reserve games (which, especially as a defender, doesnt mean that hes going to stand out) that hes not good enough and shouldnt be a given his chance and when i say that i dont just mean 2 or 3 games. Of course he has to work for his place like everybody else which i think was holloways downfall he played who he thought were the btter players and not taking into account fitness or form or willingness to play for this club. excuse the capitals but for next season I THINK INSTEAD OF GETTING ON PLAYERS BACKS AND EXPECTING TOO MUCH, LETS BELEIVE IN THEM AND REALLY DRILL THIS HOME WHEN WE SCARE THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ALL THE SIDES WE PLAY WHEN THEY HEAR THE WALKERS ROAR!!! what about that for a slogan! in it together?? JOG ON!! aahahahahah
moseeds Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Good luck gareth Hope to hear your name read out again very soon
SamL Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Harry Worley will be the best replacement for McAuley I think, we need to start building a young team and his performance against Stoke suggested he was ready. Considering the circumstances he had a very good game. He looked a little nervous but didn't make too many mistakes. Although, I still think we need to sign another centre back because of Kisnorbos injury.
C-man Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Hmmm, I think both sides have got a good deal. On the OS it said he wanted to leave, and we've got over £1million for him. He was a half-decent defender but without Kisnorbo he was clueless. I'm not sure how he'll fit in to the Ipswich team, I thought they liked to play passing football?

morris1234 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 The Walkers has a roar? it could have one but over the whole of last season its was an ever increasing sound of aflushing toilet!!
Daggers Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Step up to the plate Richard Stearman Highly unlikely seeing as an agreement has been reached for him and was due to be ratified until the manager chicken'd out of signing the contract and authorising the sale. Stears will be off before summer along with anyone else half-decent that Mendacious Mandaric can spring a couple of fivers from. Sorry...I've been touting him as captain this season as well.
DanTheFox07 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Just a thought about mcAuley and not that i am bothered that much because unlike some people who have been negative about worley`s debut against stoke I thought he looked solid and can play a decent ball so he can do a good job. I was just wondering does anyone think that mcAuley may have been convinced to stay had we already installed a new manager?
Head Honcho Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 If there was then I'm annoyed, where's the incentive to do well there then? Players who are instrumental in a clubs relegation should be forced to stay and get them back up, bloody bastards. ............but on the otherhand we did sign him on a free and I suppose that's all part of the deal.
