Shame that for Raducanu, battled well with the blistered hand from the sounds of it. Pretty clear that she'd have most likely won this without that.

A weird mixture of proud and disappointed after that.

 

Huge respect for battling and bringing out her Monica Niculescu tactics.

 

The games at 1-1 and 3-2 were key in the final set, unfortunately Emma just didn’t capitalise on her chances :(

The first set was very good. A few tight service games for each, hardly any break points until Evans got the first late on but didn't take it. Then he messed up when he was break point down on set point and put an easy shot into the net. Then it all just fell apart. Evans dropped a level, FAA up a level and that was it.

I know there's more to the sport than slams, but it's poor return for someone of his obvious ability. I know he's a 2 time Tour finals champion and an Olympic Champion, but he just can't put a consistent run in the slams together. I think it's a mental thing.

I just find him very unlikeable tbh mate.

 

I wouldn’t necessarily class him as overrated, he’ll probably win a Slam at some point, but as I’ve mentioned in this thread before, some of his performances in Slams just make me laugh.

 

You could see in the US Open final with Thiem, yes it was a massive opportunity for both of them, but mentally the guy was all over the place, his serving especially was comical.

 

His main success has come over the shorter format, same can be said for other players in his bracket, but as I’ve said many times on this thread, when it comes to those players, besides Medvedev, they are yet to win a big one, the longer that wait becomes, the harder it may be.
