Do they get hostile fans at big tennis tournaments? I thought they were all just big love-ins, like Wimbledon. C'mon, Timmy.

Wimbledon is the exception. The US Open can be particularly lively. Especially at the night sessions...

Well done. Taken 2 years but you get the idea. Locking people down, Authorities Threatening citizens at their own doorstep for being interested in going to a protest, pushing people out of jobs due to mandates (NHS staff!) Arresting citizens for protesting mandates and having nations leaders/ex leaders, MSM and morning tv hosts with their holier than thou attitude chastising people who don't want the poke is all "For your health" apparently lol

Build back better for the great reset etc as the people at the top continually parroted last year.....

They have been laughing and taking the piss at us for 2 years now and pushing the boundaries of compliance and still to this day there are people firmly in the 'Govern me harder daddy' camp because of the constant fearmongering and creeping authoritarianism (looking at you Austria)

They will be asking for your sexual health status and proof of 10th poke next time you pop into your local londis for a pint of milk at this rate.

I guess he will be allowed to play ?

Will get a very hostile reception!

Although Murray seemed to support his plight - have many other players?

I think Andy is just being diplomatic on it - he's very pro-vaccination and very clear that he things players have a responsibility to get jabbed up. I think his main concern is that it reflects badly on the tennis community, especially if it turns out that Novak was misinformed by Tennis Australia (as has been suggested).

Fair point and they are good friends too.

Not wholehearted support, it would seem.

I was sympathetic towards Djokovic, but it seems (according to this article) that he went to several engagements while knowing he had covid, visited Spain while he should have been self-isolating in Serbia, and then lied about this on his arrival form in Australia.

Djokovic has always come across as a total bell end, and this just confirms it, but it's also made Australia as a country look ridiculous and sure it will put a lot of people off wanting to go, they're just too strict.

Anyway back to the tennis...

Wonder why Emma has gone off the boil so much?

Maybe she just needs to adjust to the new lifestyle and will get her game back over the next few years, can't imagine what it's like to being basically a total unknown to sports personality of the year on the space of weeks.

Novak is a bell-end anyway. Should have just got vaxed instead of being a moron.

What just like all the professional  footballers in England?

First match back post covid, inexperienced on tour, there's plenty of reasons. Andy had a difficult loss last week but completely ripped apart his opponent today - it's a funny time of year.

Interestingly Andy for the first time in 20 years has switched his racket. It seemed to suit him today!

Those that are not vaccinated (excluding for serious medical reasons) then yes. Just like those.

Emma will be a bit of a target and of course has had a lot of attention and other things on her mind in recent weeks.

Needs a period of settling down and concentrating on her game .

Thats it as well, she's secured the bag, got bare brand deals from it. Very easy to get distracted from your game when you get success that early.

Emma’s been used as a punching bag numerous times already since winning the US, she instantly became a top target and players up their games against her. Losing to Rybakina is no surprise, but yet again the manner of the defeat is concerning.

There’s elements of her game that we saw at the US Open, that have totally disappeared since. Her cleverness on court has turned into someone who seems nervous and struggles to adapt.

This season will be a learning curve of adjusting to different opponents and different court speeds, a big hitter like Rybakina just hit her off court yesterday, you don’t want that becoming the norm.

You make an interesting point, however, this tournament isn’t played in England it’s played in Australia where professionals sports players have chosen to quit the game rather than take the vaccination.
It is mandatory in all professional sports to be vaccinated. Some players who refuse to get the vaccination are now unable to play the game - Liam Jones from Carlton in the AFL is one that springs to mind.
With this in mind, it adds to the frustration that Novak thinks he is entitled to special treatment. I am still hopeful that he will be deported in the next couple of days.
