I think she did it on purpose, and tried to mask it with the slip. It was frustration of course, but I think she tried the excuse but the umpire wasn't having it.

She had previously had a warning for throwing her racket so a penalty point seemed perfectly reasonable.; I have no doubt she slammed the racket because of her frustration. She will learn from this; an amazing talent at just 16.

 

Separately, delighted to see Eubanks win. He was impressive in pre-match interview; more so on court (and good to see players look as if they are enjoying the match). His next match v Medvedev will be a real test for him; hopefully he can win this too.

Maybe against expectations beat a more experienced player.

Kurt Nielsen reached the final in the 1950s 👍 but he's definitely the first in the ATP era*

I'm a proper bandwagon jumper with tennis. Barely watch it all year but love Wimbledon.

 

Was thinking of trying to get tickets for future Wimbledon but presuming there must be some sort of ballot aside from queuing from early in the morning?

Yep, make sure you apply by the deadline for the ballot. Think it's around September? Might be wrong. 

 

Tickets go on resale quite often though. Two years ago I bought tickets for No1 Court on the 2nd Wednesday only a few weeks before.
