DanTheFox07 Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 obviously been looking closely at our squad and looking at strength`s and weaknesses and I think we need a new keeper, Henderson is good enough for this standard but his kicking is weak as weve all probably mentioned at some point. Logan for me is too fat unless he losses a few pounds im not sure he is up to the job of number one, would be difficult to attract a good goalkeeper and obviously if we were still in the championship I could have seen us going in for Fulop!

I think we should have another as back up for Henderson. I think he proved in the final parts of last season he is up to it. I think he played really well! He deserves to be Number 1 imo.

Unabomber Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I don't think we neeed a new goalie I think that Hendo is fine for League one, his performances were really impressive at the end of last season. I also beleive if Logan stays then he is more than good enough cover. Spend money on other areas imo
Phlashman Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 IMO Hendo is fine at the moment, last season his kicking was greatly improved and towards the end he made some awesome stops I'm sure without him we would of been down alot sooner. I don't think Hendo gets enough credit, last season defensive record isn't just down to the back 4. Sure, I'd love Fulop back, I think most of us would. But the question is would he want to come and can we really justify blowing so much for a Keeper considering our position? The answer is probibly no to both.
SamL Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I'd be happy with Henderson starting the season. I'm not sure whether Conrad Logan is staying or not, but if he goes we'll need to sign a replacement.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 While ultimately not the biggest fan of Hendo's, my confidence in him as a player increased when he put in some fine performance stowards the end of last season. Also, after a promotion winning campaign in League Two, and having lost a few pounds, Logan would be adequate back up / No.1 challenger. As long as we have a consistent No.1, I'm not bothered. Too many keepers last year.
Kilworthfox Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Henderson is not consistant enough! He will cost us points get rid!
billyfox1 Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I think Hendo will be one of the better keepers in this division, he looked a bit dodgy when he started getting games last year but what do you expect. Since he's been here he's probably never known wether he's 1st 2nd or 3rd choice but always seems to play well after he's had a decent run of games like he did at the end of the season. Logan is still only 22 and has had enough first team experience to be more than suitable as cover for Hendo.

Well to be honest unless we offer logan number one jersey I think hell look for first team football elsewhere?
Hackneyisblue Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Doesn't control the box. Generally he has been a nightmare, just because he improved in the last few games is not, for me, a reason to keep him. A commanding goalie means you can defend further up the pitch a la MON. Get rid, the goalie is the first in the spine of a team, don't let him be the weak point.
FleckneyFox Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Any striker in the world would shit themselves taking a penalty against Paul Henderson!
DanTheFox07 Posted 2 July 2008 Author Posted 2 July 2008 Any striker in the world would shit themselves taking a penalty against Paul Henderson! This is true.....The guy is pretty scary looking!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 At 32 and not the greatest keeper in the world I would seriously have a look at a younger keeper that may be able to do the job and grow into something more. The chap Iain Turner who was and may still be at Everton would be worth a look - he's never gonna break into Everton's first team, so he'll need to drop down a league or two. I'm sure there are plenty of quality number 2's or 3's that would at least be willing to come here on loan - bit like Fulop.

If we are to get a keeper who is young and with quality will have to be on loan, I quite liked ben alnwick when we had him on loan but he`s more than likely gonna get another championship club trying to get him on loan?
The People's Hero Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Henderson will do at this level. As Mablorgasm said, we'll struggle to attract anyone much better down to this level.

Didn't think alnwick was any better than hendo, thought they we quite simular keepers, only think he had is that he was 10 years younger so should get better.
maddog Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 We don't need a new keeper. Henderson was awesome for him last season. Almost as good as Fulop. We've got Logan as back up.
20mj08 Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 i agree we should be fine with keepers , you could see carl pently make a few apps in the cup matches i think ... this is the right time to see what the youth has to offer for the seasons to come
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I would like to see us bring in a decent youngster to challenge Henderson for his position - someone like Mark Bunn at Northampton.
Joe. Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Do people not remember Paul Henderson as being the calamity keeper that he really is? The man's a walking catastrophe as far as I'm concerned and I'm not letting a few decent games distort my view. I remember the times I used to cringe whenever I heard his name read out anywhere, let alone whenever a ball came near him. I'd personally be happy enough to get rid of either him or Logan and get somebody new in. Henderson isn't good enough.
Jack Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I think we need to bring someone else in. Henderson has his good games but he don't half have some bad ones as well, I still shit myself everytime the ball is in the air near him.
