Jackirius Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 yeh thing is guys were winning games, how long has it been since we can say that, the boys look like they acctually want to win games for the fans and there playin their heart out.
City_4_Life Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 A win is a win, and good we got another clean sheet. Bad news about Mattock, hope he has a good and speedy recovery. Maybe Weso can help him through if it is a broken leg.
Joe. Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Can't complain too much, poor match but we got the win. Thought Howard did very well as captain tonight and Hobbs and Morrison were both solid at the back.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Thought it was alright given all the changes, but like some have said, the finishing was a bit wayward considering the quality of some of the chances. Someone in the crowd is already moaning at Gradel for 'showboating' - some people are never happy, are they? Anyone know how good a side Stockport put out? It's difficult to know when you haven't got a bloody clue who any of their players are, but the ones on show were pretty crap

It's difficult to know when you haven't got a bloody clue who any of their players are, but the ones on show were pretty crap Four changes from their starting line up on Saturday apparently. And get well soon Joe, lets hope it's a "good" break.
Jonezy Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Why do most of our youngster have to get through long term injuries (Weso, Porter, Chambers and now Mattock). Sounds like he had a good game as well. Shit, shit and shit. On the other hand better now, when the window is still open. Can that O'Neill chap play left-back?
C-man Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I know it was against 10 men for the most part but I thought we strung some lovely moves together and played some composed football at times. It took us a while to settle but the game was just turning when their player was sent off. To be fair, we could and probably should have had 4 or 5. Morrison was an absolute rock tonight, fantastic performance. Dickov deserved a goal from one of his two good efforts, the first was almost Thierry Henry-esque. Only negative is Joe Mattock's injury and our subsequent struggle for a left-back. My appetite for Saturday has been whetted sufficiently.
lildave3 Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 First of all, G'WON BIG STEVE! Secondly, well done Hobbs, my motm tonight. Thirdly, really hope Mattock hasn't broken his leg as suggested. Quite enjoyed it tonight though, got a good look at the players on show.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 We'll see, but if the break isn't too bad it's probably better than a knackered cruciate ligament in terms of recovery time. In the meantime Gilbert LB, Hobbs RB and the bandwagon will keep on rolling on Sat. Pour Forward. Why start sticking square pegs into round holes? We've been doing that for the last five seasons! A certain bald Bristolian w****r might think about sticking Barry Hayles at left wing and Dyer at left-back or something equally crazy. Let's not go that way - just buy (or loan) a left-back. Saturday was the first time in ages we had a team of players in their preferred positions, and wasn't that an improvement? We must have a youth team left-back who could slot in there in an emergency; at worst I would maybe give Kishishev a go there so we don't upset the rest of the team (at least that's only one player out of position and hopefully he'd look to impress to get a run in the team).
Joe. Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 That's very, very disappointing about Mattock. Hope he makes a full recovery from it all, I feel for him right now.
Mark Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Gutted for Joe. Couldn't believe what I was seeing when there was Steve "Captain Fantastic" Howard leading the team out. He did ok but we're still not scoring goals, you can't look up to someone with his body language. We simply have to score more goals in the coming weeks, today was an ideal chance to get more on the scoresheet playing 10 men for the majority but we couldn't manage it for one reason or another.
Simi Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Job done, simple as. Howard man of the match for me. **** the haters. Won almost everything in the air and it was just as good on the deck for me. Got a goal as well, can't ask for much more from the bloke I don't think. Gradel was exciting again and commited, still not the final ball to go with it though. It will come though. JacK Hobbs runs Howard close for man of the match, some dominant play at centre back and I'd hope that will secure his first team status along with Tunchev for Saturday. Dickov and Porter came on and made things happen, Dickov not ready from the start though. I'd probably take a chance with Porter from the start on Saturday see how we go. As I said, we won with a clean sheet. That'll do.

FleckneyFox Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Yeah match was shit except the first 10 mins of the second half. Mattocks injury looked nasty i knew it was bad the second he hit the floor, hope hes back in a few months. For Saturday i'd go with Kish at RB and Gilbert LB, On the phone in Pearson named Kish as the back up right back so that would make most sense. We shouldve won by more but a wins a win.
Tilley Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Howard man of the match for me. **** the haters. Won almost everything in the air and it was just as good on the deck for me. Got a goal as well, can't ask for much more from the bloke I don't think. Yeah, I agree. He did his job. & for once I was quite impressed with him. Hopefully a Fryatt/Howard partnership on Saturday, which I'm sure it will be.
martyn Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Kish just doesn't have the pace required of a full back anymore. We must use this injury to get a new left back in straight away. Lloyd Dyer has played LB in his time, maybe he could be an adequate short term fill in.
Mark Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 He did nothing wrong tonight. Nothing. I agree, but we're not scoring enough goals so somethings up, Stockport could have easily nicked one tonight after our domination. And its worth adding, no point in us having a free kick or corner as there seems no threat whatsoever, must do better. <_<
Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Mattock broken leg according to Billy Kee, stretchered out into an ambulance Suspected broken ankle was my understanding - he seemed to have it turned in the tackle and then to fall with his weight on it according to my info but all will doubtless be confirmed by the OS.

Durnerz Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Dyer left back, Porter left mid.Worth a try? My thoughts exactly, Dyer played there for West Brom didnt he? Either Porter or Adams for the left side.

It's difficult to know when you haven't got a bloody clue who any of their players are, but the ones on show were pretty crap Up until the sending off they were at the very least our equals and it was easy to see they'd played a few more games together than us, and if they were so crap how come we didn't out play them more. I thought they were a very decent team with some good possession, passing and movement, they like MK Dons lacked any real penetration up front. Any team that can score a lot of goals will walk this league even if they only have an average defence.
