Joe. Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Got to say Max, for all his defence ripping abilities, had a poor final ball again tonight.
Milky Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Hobbs was brilliant tonight. Morrison did really well too. Great to see we've got more than Tunchev at the back.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I thought Stockport played a nice game even though they were down to 10 men. Also, (& this isn't negative in any way), maybe Gradel's final ball was disappointing sometimes tonight, but, it's so nice to watch players actually trying and wanting to impress the manager. I'm very happy with how all the players are responding to Pearson. Well done City.
Mark Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Mattock broken leg according to Billy Kee, stretchered out into an ambulance Peason said in press conference it's his ankle.
Mikey Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Good win, good clean sheet. After the first 10-15 mins we took control of the game, and after the sending off and goal we just kept possession, and didn't really go forward as much as the fans would have liked, nonetheless a win is a win. But would like to see it 11 v 11 to see if we would control it just as much. Thought Gradel looked good again and linked up with Gilbert well again and Hobbs was our best player, solid. Also hope Mattock is back soon!
davieG Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Peason said in press conference it's his ankle. I'm sure from a distance an ankle can seem like a leg injury I guess Pearson would have seen it close up. I thought he avoided the question in his post match interview on RL though. Ankle actually sounds worse.
Thracian Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Got to say Max, for all his defence ripping abilities, had a poor final ball again tonight. It might help if people were busting a gut to get onto his final ball. Until Dickov came on I thought we lacked sharpness in the box apart from Howard's close range tap in. DJ didn't hit the near post and didn't really offer himself for an alternative pass from Gradel. But still Gradel must have put 10-15 balls into the box and clearly the team were keen to feed the ball to him as well. I do wonder if he's trying too hard though cos he seems to be mishitting his shots a bit which is unusual cos he's usual so accurate.
J.Lisemore Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 We'll see, but if the break isn't too bad it's probably better than a knackered cruciate ligament in terms of recovery time. In the meantime Gilbert LB, Hobbs RB and the bandwagon will keep on rolling on Sat. Pour Forward. Hobbs right back...
Fox You Forest Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I found it very boring but a win is a win, Another clean sheet to boot and Gradel was pretty good again. I think Adams was signed to make some people believe Hume was still here because he looks quiet like him from a distance. The flag looked good i saw Mr Jones tinkering with it just before kickoff i though he was moving it again.
Bert Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Suspected broken ankle was my understanding - he seemed to have it turned in the tackle and then to fall with his weight on it according to my info but all will doubtless be confirmed by the OS. My mate was sat in the East stand. It was his ankle, got caught from behind and fell dead funny, Joe knew straight-away he was in trouble.
Samilktray Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Spoke with one of the match official chaps towards the end. All he said is it was a break, but he wasnt sure of what. Not sure how reliable he was.
Foxhateram Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 CC highlights are on ITV now by the way. No leicester highlightes though
lildave3 Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 No leicester highlightes though  That was ridiculous! Didn't show Derby either!
Sods Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Result, job done, round one done with. Played Howard, Hobbs, Morrison, Gradel and Martin. Better performance from King when he came on, Mattocks injury will certainley be a huge blow. Hopefully have a replacement in as our Centre backs are very much Centre halfs and not a type to be out wide. Porter and Dyer are too much off a weakness to play there, looks like this Berner lad will be joining. Anyway speedy recovery Joey.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 One thing that actively annoyed me tonight. The bloke behind me was booing Howard, saying he was crap etc, etc. But this was for unreasonable stuff. Say a ball is 30m in the air, Howard cannot head it. Yet for some reason this guy blamed him for almost everything. I'm not Howard's biggest fan but I've never booed him, and I thought tonight he played excellently. I think "fans" just boo him for the sake of it sometimes. Anyway few minutes after Howard scored, he was singing "Super Stevie Howard." What a tosser.

davieG Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 Another good report from Scowie I presume. http://www.foxes-online.co.uk/site/modules...icle&sid=13 Is he on the wagon
Leicester-Fox Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 What did people think to DJ's performance last night? I thought he was terrible.
Koke Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 Another good report from Scowie I presume.http://www.foxes-online.co.uk/site/modules...icle&sid=13 Is he on the wagon Pretty good report there.
Ultra Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 The win should have been safe from the moment the Stockport centre-half walked. Yet even at the death we were grimly hanging on. Too many players (and I have to include "St" Max in this ) failed to deliver. Only the two centre-backs and the subs can feel satisfied with their display. With Stockport also resting key players (including Michael Rose, a highly-rated left back), the result told us nothing about the likely outcome of Saturday's game. But the hatters' physical approach, which largely went unpunished by a dreadfully weak referee, gave a sign of what lies ahead during the coming months. PS How ironic that Ashley Chambers should now find himself with his assailant for company on the treatment table.

Ball goes way above Howard's head - "Come on Howard". Fool.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 August 2008 Posted 13 August 2008 Mattock's injury just exposes the stupidity of disposing Clapham so quickly and ruthlessly. Clapham may not have been great but at least we would have had cover for Mattock instead of us now having to scramble around trying to find someone to fill his place for Saturday. Looking in the team for Stockport thread, none of the options offered are going to be as good as Clapham as far as steady defence is concerned, which we will require on away days like this.
