From the video I saw, I don’t think he was driving

Whoever was driving is getting points for the no MOT = no insurance. And given that insurance invalidation, it's going to cost the driver a pretty packet to the bus company. I don't care who was driving, just happy to see him suffer.

Uninsured - correct

if the bus is shown to have driven into the Audi then will the bus company be able to claim against the Audi driver ?

I think it being in a cycle lane pretty much ruins any defence Fox might have had.

Impossible to say, if a bus was pushing you off the road you would rightly use whatever space you had.  Looks like a typical London squeezed by a bus crash to me.

How do you deal with a democracy where the very idea of truth has been so subverted by digital misinformation and other factors?

My son-in-law's doctoral thesis research question in a nutshell.

Thesis pending/write up atm.

It's actually exploring the conflict between the regulation of digital misinformation and the compromising of free speech from a legal standpoint. We have archaic laws and legislation that are completely unfit for the internet age.

The absolute penis of a BT “engineer” who has messed me about this week.

I assumed he was delivering the new router and boosters. First, he doesn’t show for the appointment. Second, he doesn’t show for the second appointment. Calls fifteen minutes after he should’ve left me to say he was on his way.

Rocks up - does nothing but check my signal strength.

No router. No boosters. Absolutely no point. If I wasn’t WFH I’d be spitting nails.

I hate BT.

I wish I’d changed suppliers now. Still, got it reduced by 33% so there’s that.

I had them install some new stuff in our new place a couple of years ago. The engineer couldn't find our place (despite it definitely being on Google Maps). So he parked up at the nearest supermarket and rang us, asked us to come and get him so he could follow us to the house lol. It was less than a 30 second drive and I think he was just being a lazy shit.

Anyway, I complained as it was not something I should have done or been expected to do (while working). BT customer services were shocked when I told them. They ended up giving me a credit back on the account, equivalent to about 4-5 months free for the inconvenience.

I got a third call this morning. He was parked in my drive next to the front door with the street name and number clearly signed.

“Have you got a black door?”

These people get to vote and shit.

Didn’t know where to put this so put it here…..

Long story short…… had an argument with a stranger in the street. Nothing serious and pretty much two sided. Thought nothing of it. A week later I get a call from the police to say they reported me and I’m receiving a RPW (Recorded Police Warning) for Breach of the Peace (Scottish Law). I have to either accept the Warning (stays on file for 2 years) or challenge it which means actually going to court.  I’m genuinely in shock.

What on Earth was the topic of the argument if you do not mind me asking?

Petty. They were being an arse outside a shop, slagging it off (it was a small independent). “This place is full of junk, £4 for that piece of shit?!?”. I said “**** off if you don’t like it”. They retaliated. Stupid childish argument ensued. We parted ways.

It is a shame that such a police notice was issued for such small potatoes and utilising the capacity to do so for such an incident is just plain weird.

(I have visions you were wearing a cape in this situation  )

A couple of further questions:

1. Was this person known to you? I’m wondering how they identified you to issue you the warning without it.

2. Can you accuse the person back?

I hope you asked if they were ready to rumble?

In all seriousness, that's weird. How could they have had evidence sufficient for a warning....unless they examined CCTV and had you on tape making your initial comment and deemed that sufficient? Otherwise, it would be just one person's word against another's.....and even if they did have CCTV, does telling someone to **** off seriously constitute a breach of the peace? Haven't people got something better to do with their time - and that applies to both the other party and the Scottish police? :o

In the interests of candour, I should confess that I got bound over for a breach of the peace several decades ago.

But I'd turned up drunk on a complete stranger's doorstep at 1am, incorrectly claimed that I lived there, asked to come in and sleep and then refused to leave when the police were called.

So, I was bang to rights and fully deserving of the opprobrium of the criminal justice system.

I own another shop and I think they must have identified me that way. I’d never met the person. I could but I’m worried it will just create more hassle. Such an annoying situation.

Apparently in Scotland if two people report you (there were two of them) it’s classed as proof. Seems insane.
