6. March 2007: George Osborne praising the internet’s ability to make politics more accountable

We need to harness the internet to help us become more accountable, more transparent and more accessible - and so bridge the growing gap between government and governed

You cannot cure psychopathy. There have been disastrous attempts but it can't be done. It's not a "mental illness" per se, depending on the expert you read from it's either a state of being or a personality disorder.

It's also a somewhat exaggerated cliche to say psychopaths don't see other people's views and it's flat out wrong to say they can't DISPLAY emotion or sympathy, even if superficially. Psychopaths are often exceptionally charming and highly functioning social characters who know exactly what you want to hear.

I find psychopathy massively interesting but, while I wouldn't claim to be an expert, it is ridiculously misunderstood thanks to film, TV and other fiction.

It's  an interesting, but extremely complex subject, in which even experts often disagree with the diagnosis. Just how does one get exactly inside their mind?

Have you never talked to yourself whilst in front of the mirror, DT?

Psychopaths have actually been known to seek out treatment from therapists to hone their conman skills according to recent studies.

Not uncommon with personality disorders I believe.  Certainly in my experience of a sufferer, a series of therapists have just provided ammunition to the "poor me" storyline of the sufferer.  The challenge is that generally they just don't see that they have a problem.  If they see you think they do they might play along, but it wont change the facts.

My money is on them being Arabs.

I`m probably stereotyping though.

I would be surprised if the perpetrators came from a Western society.  Much more likely to come from a society where having domestic servants under your control is the norm.

Possible, obviously, but weirdos come from every culture. Hello Fritzel.

Not sure Austria qualifies as a Western Culture...  Point taken though.  This was not a kidnap and sexually abuse case, this is about mistreatment of domestic servants over a long period.

Pretty sure it does.

Anyway if I had to put my money on it I'd say Eastern Europeans, there have a number of human trafficking cases involving Eastern Europeans in the last few years, and Lambeth has a much higher Eastern European population than Asian.

Never thought I'd see this sort of thing happening in London.

How did they get an England and Irish kid? Can understand the Malaysian as they have been trafficked for years...

Get the feeling some woefully out of touch social worker could end up as one of the root causes again.

Apparently the people who kept them as slaves had been detained for the same thing back in the 70s.

Headteacher Lynn Small.

Anyone who values freedom of choice or speech, be very afraid, they will be coming for you soon. Wgatever your political/religious alignment eventually.

Parents have criticised a school after children as young as eight were told they would be punished for racism if they did not attend a religious workshop about Islam.

Angry mums and dads were sent a letter by Littleton Green Community School, in Huntingdon, Staffordshire, warning their children would be considered racist if they did not go on the school trip.

The visit to Staffordshire University - for Year 4 and Year 6 pupils - had been arranged as part of the children's "cultural education" on November 27.

Headteacher Lynn Small wrote to parents and said if kids did not attend a "racial discrimination note" would be made on the pupil's records and would remain there for their school careers.

On top of that, they were also ordered to pay £5 towards the cost of the trip.

I am as pinky leftie as they come and a diversity champion but I would have told her to bollox. It's rubbish like this that spoils all the good work done to eradicate racism over the last 30 years.

This case goes back 30 years though. There would not have been a large EE population in Lambeth back then, Cold War and all that.
