Martin 6.5 - Look very assured and comfortable, one little mis-understanding and no chance with the goal.

Gilbert 7 - Won a number of tackles, always pressuring and closing down, supported the attack well.

Dyer 6 - Out of position, but still did ok and got forward when he could.

Hobbs 7 - Won pretty much everything, very focused.

Morrison 6.5 - A couple of mishaps but still sold in general.

Gradel 6.5 - Much better than last week. His crossing was better today too.

Levi 6.5 - Struggled to get into the game at first, but done his bit for the team.

Oakley 7.5 - Very good today, slow to start, but made some nice passes, tackles and runs, got into the box a fair bit. A key role in the third goal.

King 7 - Sat deeper today which gave Oakley a bit more freedom, played well in a scrappy midfield battle.

Howard 7.5 - Won 90% of balls in the air and scored, also a key role in third goal, can't ask for much more.

Fryatt 8 - Two headed goals, a willingness to chase defenders, close down and generally hassle, giving their defenders hardly any time.

Adams 6 - Looked decent when he came on.

Dickov 6 - I don't understand why he came on at left wing, Levi was doing alright, we were 2-0 up so surely he could've gone on up front. Still done ok though.

Gradel 7

Oakley 7.5

Dickov 5 - pointless, a limited player whos (or used to be) a livewire in and around the box, not a winger.

Gilbert, Morrison, Dyer and Fryatt :appl: Although not one player had a bad game they are the players that stood out for me.

1st 30 minutes we were not in the game. They were much better than MK Dons - passed well and closed us down.

Martin - 6 - Didn't have a lot to do. Made one save when required. No chance with their goal. Kept on aiming for Howard but kept putting the ball out of play.

Gilbert - 7 - Looked good. Always willing to go forward.

Morrison - 7 - Impressed again. Very solid.

Hobbs - 7 - He's good. Very assured.

Dyer - 7.5 - He didn't look out of place even though he was out of position. Did well. Brilliant eye to setup the 1st goal from our free kick.

Gradel - 7 - What a great ball for our 2nd goal. He gets stuck in. Never backs out of a challenge. Great attitude.

Oakley - 7 - Took control of midfield once we'd gone a goal up. Must maintain his presence in games.

King - 6.5 - Willing runner into the box. Got stuck in. Not quite an end product.

Porter - 6 - Needs a few games. Looks a little short but did his bit for the team.

Howard - 8 - Super Stevie Howard!

Fryatt - 7.5 - Although he took his chances well, I didn't think he was as good as Howard.

Subs:

Adams - 6 - Ineffective.

Dickov - 6 - Can't play him LM!!!

We shouldn't have conceded our goal. Their player handballed - linesman missed it - then flagged for a foul on him that wasn't - we switched off - they scored. Annoyed with that one.

Our first free kick was excellently executed by Dyer. Our 2nd free kick was superbly executed by Gradel.

All in all, well executed free kicks and anything we can pick off from mistakes made by the other team should see us well up there by the end of the season.

:scarf::scarf: Now that's what I call entertainment!

Id agree with all of that except i thought Martin was no better than Henderson (why was he dropped anyway after not conceding a goal?)

Martin nearly costs us a goal and kicked the ball out of play. His save was hit straight at him.

King was very poor today worst player on the pitch for me.

Gilbert 7.5 I really like this kid, not sure whether he'll ever get a game for Arsenal but he's definitely a premiership player of the future.

Hobbs 7.5

Morrison 7

Dyer 7.5 Considering he's not a LB I thought he did well.

Gradel 7

Oakley 7

King 7

Porter 7 Only just a 7. 1 or 2 good crosses but largely anonymous

I've never called him that?

thought it was you but I know someone did in the Kisnorbo thread

Not me pal, probably Lildave.

Martin - 7- A couple of good catches and then one-cock up and he varied his distribution, goal kicks were exaclty like Alnwicks last season, although they don't give him much space for mis-direction by standing so close to the touchline.

Gilbert -7- Was having a stormer of a second half until he lost his man for their goal.

Morrison -6.5- Wasn't at his best today but solid enough.

Hobbs -7- Not has good as previous games, a few mis-kicks. But still comfortable.

Dyer -6- I thought he did ok, not great though.

Gradel -6.5- Was very average first half but he started the second half very well, strange that he was well enough to take the free kick but then had to come off.

Oakley -7- Pick of the midfielders, always talking to the players and was in control throughout.

King -6- Quiet really, didn't do anything stand-out but then didn't do an awful lot wrong either.

Porter -6- Did a couple of good things, is good when he has space to run into but when he has to take someone on he often fails.

Howard -7- Don't think his overall performance was great but I don't care aslong as he scores.

Fryatt -7- Like Howard, overall performance wasn't great but you can't argue with 2 goals.

Adams -6- Didn't see much of the ball but when he did he used it intelligently.

Dickov -4- Did nothing.

Why did we have everyone back when Tranmere had a corner, we should leave someone up so we have an out ball and it'll draw afew of their players back, i find everyone back when defending a corner too defensive!

Yeah, I was deliberating over an 8 for Gilbert - really impressed me today but like someone mentioned above, the goal was scored by the man he was marking.

Always rated Shuker, surprised he and Greenacre didn't start although maybe they're not fit. Looked they looked a lot better when those two came on.

Going back to Gilbert, he reminds me a bit of the job Frank Sinclair used to do for us when we had the likes of Taggart, Walsh and Elliott making up two of the 3-man defence - always using his pace to mop up behind. I like him and although he has his flaws (not a great passer for one) and will never make it at Arsenal, he is a great asset for us in this league.

Martin 6 Didn't look any better than henderson. Flapped badly at one cross and his kicking form goal kicks was awful.

Gilbert 7 Did well especially considering the lack of support he got in the first half.

Dyer 7 Good performance out of position. looked better going forward than Porter.

Hobbs 7 Very good in the air especially agains theri rather tall no.7 Panicked a bit late second half.

Morrison 7 Another steady performance.

Gradel 5 A simply dismal first half effort. The ten mins or so he played in the second half were much better. 1 exellent cross and a great free kick.

Porter 6 Didn't really offer anything special. We need a left back because Dyer is wasted in that position and on this evidence Porter isn't good enough or fit enough.

King 5 Lost count of the number of times he just gave the ball away. 1 good run into the penalty area and then he fluffed it. Very average.

Oakley 6 Great run and cross for the goal but he just vanishes for long periods of the game. He was just not involved for the first 20 minutes.

Howard 8 Thought he did well today. He won a lot in the air scored and generally held the ball up well.

Fryatt 8 Two more goals and generally well involved. Should have had a penalty as well.

Adams 7 Looked good. Some neat passing and good off the ball movement. Not as quick as Gradel but has a better final ball.

Dickov 5 Offered very little on the left wing but then that's not a surprise really is it?

Martin 6 Good apart from one cross he came for and was nowhere near. Not enough evidence to make a proper judgement as to who is the better bet between him and Henderson.

Gilbert 8 Ran all day long. Amazing pace and energy. He and Gradel will be dynamite once they strike up a proper understanding.

Hobbs 8 Too good for League 1.

Morrison 7 Not as good as Hobbs, a few times ddin't realise how much tiem he had and missed out in the air once or twice. However, good organisational skills and we look solid at the back with him in.

Dyer 7 Great going forward but was at fault for their goal and the chance they had just before. Not sure he can be trusted at left back when we are away form home but I am happy with him there at home. Good effort considering he was out of position.

Gradel 7 Good delivery from set plays and a couple of nice crosses. Made stuff happen yet again.

Oakley 7 Was nowhere for the first 20 minutes but really came into his own. When he is playing well he breaks up attakcs and is constantly offering for the ball whilst we have got it. Why he has periods of inactivity I do not know.

King 6 Carried for quite a lot of the game. Not sure that he and Oakley have enough bite between them.

Porter 6 Struggled to make an impact on his first start since injury. Dyer looks more purposeful down the left at the moment for me.

Howard 7 Got on the score sheet, won stuff in the air and was unlucky not to add a second. Hes no better than last year but he looks alright against such mediocre defences.

Fryatt 7 Lost the ball on a few occaisions and it annoys me when he plays with his head down, but got a couple of goals and was a willing runner.

***SUBS***

Dickov 7 Looked much fitter than his last appearence, held the ball up well and spread the ball nicely.

Adams 7 Think he is going to be a useful player

Pearson 8 Praise for recognising we were going to doing a lot fo attacking and therefore playing wingers at full back so we could have extra options. Dyer and Gilbert were responsible for some of our best attacking moments. His post match comments also show he understands what is going on, on the pitch and is not getting carried away. Early days but seems a sensible and bright manager.
