Lovejoy Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Start of 2nd season in Prem (4th overall) got £28mil to spend, but lost my best CB Dario Veron to the Hammers for £4mil . Oh, and Brazil is crazy for quality players. Work permits are stumbling blocks though. I swear on the previous games you could get loads more WP's .
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 They need like, hm, 5 caps or something? Try Argentinians, you'll find a fair few of them with joint Italian nationality maybe. Where did you finish in the league to get 28mil? When my laptop's working again I'm near the end of the season, I had some nasty injuries and so gave up and spent the season experimenting. I'm going to finish about 11th. :\
Ashley Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Chedwyn Evans is a God at League One level. Last time I checked his ratings/stats was something like this. Games: 49 Goals: 51 Assits: 14 He Scored 3 Hatricks within 5 games however 2 out of the 5 he got 4 goals. Amazing
DB11 Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Oh, and Brazil is crazy for quality players. Work permits are stumbling blocks though. I swear on the previous games you could get loads more WP's . Indeed :) Anyone wanting a LUTON challenge try this one! The Luton challenge: -30 to safetyBackground Has anyone in football ever suffered the fall from grace which Luton have? After a successful first season in the Championship following promotion from League 1 saw Luton finish in 10th place narrowly missing out on the play off’s confidence was high that maybe the team was going places. However it was the start of the downturn, key players were sold and questions about the activities of the people running the club saw the club have a poor start to the 06/07 season and following comments about the running of the club manager Mike Newell was sacked in March. The move was not popular with fans and calls for chairman Bill Tomlins to leave increased. Kevin Blackwell was brought in and the club couldn’t get out of its poor form on the pitch and relegation to League 1 followed. The summer saw a change of chairman with racing driver David Pinkney buying Tomlins shares in the club, players we’re brought in on high wages and despite high expectations players failed to perform and the club found itself in mid table. However then worse came in November when David Pinkney dumped the club in administration, 10 points were deducted and wages deferred. A superb spirit in the FA cup forcing a replay against Liverpool at Anfield saved the club but sale of key players to fund the club saw league form stay poor and Kevin Blackwell walked out. Luton legend Mick Harford came in but couldn’t turn it round as a poor squad of players that didn’t want to be here saw the club relegated down to League 2. The only positive from the last season had been the new owners coming in called LTFC 2020. A consortium of Luton fans and businessmen fronted by TV personality Nick Owen gained control, however the shocking management of the past saw the wage bill be slashed to balance the books and a whole new squad was required. That wasn’t the worst challenge however. Firstly the FA decided payments out of the wrong accounts to agents to deceive Mike Newell made by ex chairman Bill Tomlins was worthy of a 10 points deduction for the League 2 campaign, then even worse followed with a 20 point deduction followed from the football league as Luton officially left administration. The club in a very short period build a squad of players ready for the league 2 campaign starting on minus 30 points, surely the most difficult task facing any side this season. Scenario The Luton board know there’s one way the club can fight back, stay in the football league. Relegation to the Blue Square premier could see the club fall off the football radar. They’ve decided you, an inexperienced manager with no previous management jobs are the person to take on the challenge. The boards main requirement is survival, you are expected to keep the club up despite the points deduction. Any cup run is a bonus but reaching the 3rd round of the FA cup could obviously see financial reward and a good cup run can help moral with this in mind reaching the final of the Johnstone’s paint trophy at Wembley could see more reward for the club. The club however can’t stay up at any cost, the club needs to become financially sustainable to survive in the long run so the board would like to offload some of the reaming high paid players and see the club at least break even. It’s all an art of balancing financial stability and on pitch performance. Rules - Must start with past experience of ‘Sunday league footballer’ - Any leagues and database size may be loaded Points Points will be rewarded for the following criteria: - League survival – 50 points - Top half finish – 65 points - Beaten play off’s – 80 points - Promotion – 90 points - Title winner – 100 points - Reach the 3rd round of FA cup – 20 points - Reach the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy – 20 points - Make a profit in the 08/09 season – 20 points - Reduce the wage bill by £10,000 a week – 15 points
dandannieldanok Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I've started with Luton, can't shift any of the highest earners though.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Chedwyn Evans is a God at League One level. Last time I checked his ratings/stats was something like this.Games: 49 Goals: 51 Assits: 14 He Scored 3 Hatricks within 5 games however 2 out of the 5 he got 4 goals. Amazing Unsurprisingly I have both in my Prem side. Lewandowski's banging them in but Evans has been in terrible form. I'm gutted.

Now got to raise 3 million sharpish, to sign Tarta from fluminense. Check the badboy out he's rather useful .
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Might be a regen and hence not on mine. I said I'd finish midtable so I might disappoint the board if I finish in 13th. I've dropped a lot, a LOT of points to just tactical experimentation and seeing how youngsters fare. I threw a bit of a paddy about early December in my Prem season after my biggest creative midfielder, winger and striker all got injured and Tunch and Steinsson hit a horrible run of form. So I declared the season over and started tweaking. Next season I assault the top 6.
Darkzzz_ Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I can't believe I took over Huddersfield but I am enjoying it. I have pulled them away from relegation in the 18 games I have been there and Plymouth offered me a job. I rejected it. I have Kanu but he is a bench warmer, Oliver Dacourt is in the middle of the park and doing a steady job. Danny Welbeck and Liam Dickinson dream strike force in League One. Next season we will march towards CCC and then on and up to the Prem. My 2 season plan.

Luckily though this season I hopefully won't have to contend with muppets like this :
J.Lisemore Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I've just begun a new game with Shrewsbury Town. Signed 3 players at the minute, Anthony Pulis from Southampton (Free) Peter Sweeney (Loan) and Malcolm Christie (Free) both from Leeds Taking a bit of a gamble with Christie but im hoping i can make him into the player was a couple of years ago with a bit of luck.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I love the Tunch on mine, haha, he isn't going anywhere. Would love to be one of the lucky ones that got £6m for Kissa though. As for my tweaking / relative safety - meh. I knew when I won 4 - 2 at Anfield on the third or so game of the season I'd probably be safe.

Wijnaldum . Anyway, who needs Tunch and Nobbo when you've got Ledley King and Krystian Pearce (though Morrison is better than both of them  ).
Mikey Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 After 16 games in my 2nd season in the Premiership, I'm 6th. My team: GK - Igor Akinfeev RB - Eliot Omozusi CB - Aboulaye Meite CB -Vincent Kompany LB - Aleksander Tunchev RM - Milos Krasic CM - Alex Teixera CM - Ferrie Bodde LM: Max Gradel/ Martin Petrov/ Hasni Abd Rado ST: Robert Lewandowski ST: Danny Welbeck

Samilktray Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Took over Luton. Champions League in 4 seasons.
Fox You Forest Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Made a good start, Who'd have thought there was a Hucknall worse than Mick. Signed John, Beswick and Verma who scored on his debut on loan from City.
Darkzzz_ Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Wow... How many players retire young?? Kerrea Gilbert has retired at the age of 24 on mine and a few 20-24 year olds have also called it a day. I guess B&Q and McDonalds are offering much better deals in terms of wages.
Ashley Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Considering i've won the League, in my next game I decided to give the kids a run out. Here's the outcome Brought Chopra & Evans on at half time. Dangerous.
Lovejoy Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Ins/Outs ahead of my 2nd Prem season. Going forward, I look good, but still a question or two over the defence, even if I have two excellent keepers: Here's my 1st team Squad:
CosbehFox Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 5th with Bochum and four to go for the season. Went on a 6 game winning streak, Arshavin has got us firing. Lewando is nearly on 20 for the season. Everyone's happy again. My target was top 8. We should finish top 6 but we have some difficult games in the four left - we win all 4, Bochum make their first appearance in Europe. Champions League isn't out of the question yet. I intend to sign three players in the Summer (already signed Rodney Sneijder on bosman). Too much chopping and changing means it's taking a while for us to get firing every season. Might let go of Poggybank - big disappointment this season and I could probably fetch £10 million for him and get Lazovic from PSV in. Probably got 3 or 4 old squad players what need phasing out and players come in over time. There's a couple of midfielders I have my eye on in this respect plus the Hoff could go down and they will have a 'closing down' sale. Lewis Holtby from Alemannia Aachen is a decent signing. 20 yr old, ratings average but he's been the find for me this season.
Darkzzz_ Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Right then. Here we go. It is the summer. I have to get this Huddersfield team sorted out... I shall be getting rid of at least 14 players. They have been garbage. I need a squad capable of winning the league, I want that CCL1 title in my honours list.
