All, & I mean nearly all waccoe members who commented in a thread before the season start, say that he was a clown, crap manager etc. Hence saying that leicester won't be a threat cus he was named manager.

I remember being gobsmacked at the time as he won 3 out of 4 games as caretaker when robson was sacked at wba & drew the other game. He kept saints up last season. He seemed to deserve a chance to me.

He seems to be taking that chance, leaving us in his slip stream.

------

Leicester have an immense defence for this league and now a couple of strikers who aint spectacular but will score goals . I fancied them to walk this league anyway with us 2nd by some distance . Ive seen nowt to change my mind . Carlisle are worrying me also they seem to be scoring for fun as do oldham to a degree .

Did expect leicester to start very poor to be honest so they have surprised me how quick they have got to grips in this league .

At the end of the day i dont give a rats arse how we get up as long as we do thumbsup.gif

--------

When do we ever win 4:0 away?

That -15 motivated us, what's motivating leicester?

---------

A good manager i suppose and a settled squad who have not made too many changes

---------

4 games in and we are handing the title to leicester and asking for macca to be sacked.

thumbsup.gif

I'm not asking for macca to be sacked.

I am very frustrated that he can't motivate the team then see a new manager appear at another club, clicks his fingers & bang, top of the league. I can only see leicester getting better. I hope I'm wrong.

Leicester sold alot of there "best" players too remember blink.gif

------------

wouldnt say we are handing the title to them just say that they are probably a stronger unit than us defensivly last season i think they had the 2nd best in the championship just struggled badly for goals . As i say i couldnt care less about the title its promotion we want whether in 2nd or the play offs preferably not the play offs ph34r.gif

I was one of the few people on that thread that said don't underestimate Pearson as a manager. This was going to be his last chance managing a "decent" sized club. What he achieved at Southampton in keeping them up was a minor miracle. By all acounts he has leicester very fit this season. He is an old school type of manager. As other posters have said they one of the best defences in the championship and keep the bulk of the squad from last season as well as bringing in some really good loan signings, There team has been built on a strong defence.

Hobbs, Morrison, Gilbert, Truncheon

They also have good competitin up front and the fastest winger in the division in Dyer.

They are a very good side. At the start of the season I said we would both go automatically, I still do. It was always going to be the question. How would therir players reaact to live in the divsion and they seem to have responded well to Pearson so far.

--------------

I'd have Pearson as our manager (but not just yet!), he was always what I'd call a PROFESSIONAL footballer and he's carrying on the same as a coach and manager.

He'll do well and will end up in the Prem.

--------------

Leyton Orient flattered to deceive. They just didn't have the quality of a Leicester City, no ifs ands or buts about it.

If the Foxes aren't top two at the end of the season, i'll be shocked.

-------------

Hate to say it but if Leicester play they have been they will win the league and win it with a month to go. Their defence record is brilliant and they are scoring 3-4 goals at a time some games. I would rather have their team than ours.

-------------

Bloke I work with is an ex youth player at leicester. He now works part time coaching the kids. He reckons the transformation is unreal. Passing, moving quick.

I told him leeds play football like netball. Pass it, then stop. It's just as if we are not allowed to move when we have the ball. Hence very few chances ever created.

-------------

If we finish above leicester we will win the division its simple as that

-------------

I'd agree with that^^^

It's nice to see them praising us, good to know they're objective as they have a reputation for being a set of dicks which I imagine isn't universally applicable. I wouldn't write Leeds off yet though. Though I fear Carlisle and Oldham more, purely because I don't particularly rate McAllister.

Posted

Pissing in their pants already, are they?

I understand them though. We do have a very good settled squad. This is what we needed to do, strike fear into our oppositions and direct rivals for promotion and let them know we mean business.

From a Hartlepool forum

"and that boys and girls ( leicester city ) is the standard by which.... all league one clubs will be judged this season.

if they dont get automatic promotion this season i will never post on here again. id be amazed if there are 2 better teams than them in this league.

once dickov went off they were in a different league to pools. they made collins and nelson look second rate, and that takes some doing at this level.

ive already backed them before a ball was kicked to win league one this season and have just done so again.

very impressive."

.............................................

"agree wholeheartedly for once chip. they're in my acca for all four divisions and on that showing i might lump a bit more on.

did feel however that we deserved some reward for our efforts. we played some decent stuff and their second and third goals were somewhat suspect (dodgy throw in and good shout for offside respectively), and also the standard of officials at this level is laughable.

overall tho they were very worthy winners although i'm taking heart from good displays from robson and brown, and the fact that we natched them for the first 45."

.............................................

yep

if you can get any odds on em at all then take it

champions by march

.............................................

they went up a gear when dickov went off. alb made some good saves to keep it respectable, but it shows how strong they are when they have campbell and fryatt on the bench.

i like their attitude. unlike some of the big clubs that have come down, sheff wed, forrest, leeds, they look up for this league. they took tonight seriously, they clearly want to win every game they play.

they have a lot of big strong players, they have pace, but as i said most of all they have the right attitude.

and fair play to stevie howard, he is gonna cause defenders at this level nightmares.

spoke to a few of their fans on the way out who reckoned thats the worst they have played this season.

not many teams come to pools and put the cleaners through them.

no real shame in getting beat off that team.

the likes of leeds, carlisle, oldham and bristol rovers might give them a game but cant see them dropping many points on tonights showing.

.............................................

We were talking last night with about 10 minutes left. After a scary first ten minutes we had given as good as we got in the first half and probably even shaded it. Second half we didn't do a great deal wrong and still created some chances, and yet somehow the 0-2 score just seemed right. In a game in which neither side was busting a gut Leicester had that air of class about them that suggested, regardless of what chances we had or how much possession, they were just better than us, simple as that. I look forward to the league games and we are going to have to play very very well to get anything.

0-3 was still more than a little harsh.

On Rowell it seems like I can finally shut up about him after boring everybody since I saw his first start for the youth team over two years ago. The lad was different class then, and has been superb for youths/reserves since. I thought that with so many midfielders at the club he might have to be patient, but he's ready. Maybe needs a few good dinners, but he's ready.

.............................................

I disagree with the feeling about the harshness of the score - I think if their front men had checked their runs a bit more not to get caught offside about 10 times in the 2nd half, that could quite easily have been a six or a seven. They are far better than us in every department, having people like Chris Powell in the team who obviously still has a great attitude, we're never going to be able to compete against them for quality.

We'll do ok against most sides with our best XI out, but Leicester already look better than any Forest or Sheff Wed or Leeds who have "graced" this division in the past.

I think it will at least focus the Pools players and management on the task at Leicester at the end of the month, in terms of working hard in that game like they've never worked before - that way we'll keep the score down to maybe a two goal defeat!!

.............................................

I have to agree. We got hammered. Maybe it was because we played a severely weakened side or maybe it would have made no difference. The way some on here talk though, you would have to believe we gave them a good game and got close to winning. All I saw was a team that stepped up the pace when they needed to and tore us to pieces. It was quite humbling actually.

.............................................

couple of points:

that was pretty much our first choice defence/keeper that got given the runaround in the second half, so while i agree that we can give them more to think about defensively i can see leicester scoring a lot of goals in this division.

how decent were the leicester fans ? they seemed to be keen on taking part in the jp trophy unlike say leeds and sheff wed who saw it as an embarrassment. they came up with some decent chants, the pick of which was :

" lawrence lawrence is your dad, lawrence is your dad. "

and the ones we spoke to before and after the game didnt have any heirs or graces. they accepted they were in this division as a result of them playing shiit rather than a football league conspiracy and said it was nice to get to some new grounds and meet friendly people.

Lets be all gracious in this thread, it's nice not to be thought of as wankers, really nice in fact.

We'll have to make a secret forum to bitch about the JPT, League One and what a "massive" club we are.

I do not like this attitude. Alot of people both inside and out of the club seem to think we've won this division already. Not the case.

I do have to agree with Manwell Pablo here.

Season is 4 league games in, and a lot of people think we've done enough already.

Yes its great to playing good winning football again.

But our success has come from a great professional attitude, and in order to get the success which is there for the taking.

We must continue to adopt this professional approach to games and take the compliments from other clubs with a bit of salt.

To be fair, it's the oppositions who are tipping us for glory.

I think most Leicester fans are not naive enough to think we gonna walk this division, especially all the shit we've been through in recent years. Nothing is guaranteed at this club.

I liked these two bits. Maybe just because I get pissed off when people start going on about how we're a big club and should walk this league etc etc.

I'm actually suprised by how complimentary they are because I thought that Hartlepool more than matched us for large parts of the game and just everything they hit went straight down Hendo's throat. Could easily have had a couple of goals at least on another night! In fact the one thing that really sticks in my mind from last night was one quality move they put together with quick one touch passing, a quality cross and a glancing header that if it had been a yard either side would have seen them pull one back.

Best team we've played this season bar Fulham in my opinion

Too early to be singing our graces, it's abit worrying!! I hope we don't get complacent, we have the right tools we just have to use them the right way all season!!!

Luckily, Pearson seems capable of bringing our players back down to earth and focus on one game at a time.

Fully agree, was going to post something similar. Barker is superb in the air and Brown will play top-end Championship at least, he looks quality. They had us on the rack at the end of the first half and I was glad of the whistle. Second half we started playing, as in every single away game so far this season. Pearson's man-motivation and fitness regime is something to behold.

Obviously when a team start as we have, you're going to get people saying we will run away with the division. Pearson's biggest task will be to keep the side professional and make sure they don't lose focus. We still haven't played any of the better sides in the division.

I don't like this. Four league games in and people are saying we're gonna win the league.

Yes we're looking strong and i'd say the motivation in the team looks like a complete turn around from last season. But two losses in a row and we're right back in the mix + that's when we'll see a big test in the players confidence.

Long way to go yet. So far so good tho!

That would include me then. No one can deny that things can go wrong, but it would have to be something major to push us off course this season.

we were told that that MK Dons would be one of the top teams this season, brushed aside with ease. Hartlepool would be one of the toughest teams we would play this season, beaten 3-0 away. Tranmere no mugs but beaten.

We have strength in depth to cover injuries so unless Pearson is lured away to a higher club or MOF does his usual trick and sacks him, I'm confident that we will finish 2nd at worse, probably 1st.

If I'm proved wrong then please drag this thread up and embarrass me.
