morris1234 Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 well done england, well done theo and well done rooney! i thought everybody played well and walcott deserved MOM but rooney was class, probably the best game ive seen him play. the thing is with rooney you shouldnt position him anywhere really just let him do what he wants, go where he wants and leave him to it.
lavrentis Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Let's not forget big Ivanhoe. Thought he had a good game.
The Stig Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Why? He did a good enough job on Saturday. And he has pace, will run at people and has that fearlessness (is that a word?) that youngsters seem to have. Your right, he also didn't really do anything to suggest he shoud be dropped either, what I mean his he was hardly looking like he's undroppable if that's a word. None of them were really.
Jon the Hat Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 We are rubbish. Croatia are brilliant. We will lose and play boring football. I think you are absolutely right.
The Stig Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I thought it was Dave Snap! I'm sure others have made the same mistake! You live and learn.
lildave3 Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I thought it was Dave It's both. I'm a man of many names. Your right, he also didn't really do anything to suggest he shoud be dropped either, what I mean his he was hardly looking like he's undroppable if that's a word. None of them were really. He was always a better option than Beckham, and a better one than Bentley too imo. And I don't think SWP or Lennon were in the squad were they?

And I don't think SWP or Lennon were in the squad were they? Lennon was in the U21's and hardly impressed for them, that lad has stagnated badly in the past couple of seasons, probably 5th maybe even 6th choice for the right wing now
lildave3 Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Lennon was in the U21's and hardly impressed for them, that lad has stagnated badly in the past couple of seasons, probably 5th maybe even 6th choice for the right wing now Oh yeah not disputing that, just saying he's another with pace and will run at people.

And I don't think SWP or Lennon were in the squad were they? No true but a different system could have been played. For example a 4-3-3 with 3 center mids and Cole Heskey Rooney up front. I also think SWP should have been in the squad. Playing that system there's little doubt he is and should be first choice. Beckham doen't have the pace and I agree with you about Bentley.
Joe. Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I'm disappointed with Lennon because at one stage he looked as though he was going to be a very good international winger for England. Now he's back from his injury and playing in the Spurs team I hope he picks himself back up again and manages to force his way back into the senior squad. We should have some healthy competition on the right hand side soon enough with SWP returning to Man City.

RowlattsFox Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Although the sending off helped, it was an excellent performance. After the sending off we were different class, passing and moving was brilliant. I'm undecided about the red card, I would be saying that he went for the bal if it was the other way round, I don't think he would have been sent off had Joe Cole not been bleeding so badly. Simunic should have been sent off just before anyway. 3 excellent finishes by Walcott and some great runs, Rooney was superb second half and Terry was a rock at the back first half. Brown had his best game for England at right back too, Lampard got better has the game went on and was denied a great goal. Of course, people will say that Croatia were missing Eduardo and Kranjcar, and were down to 10 men but it was excellent tonight and a step in the right direction, lets just hope it wasn't a one off.
Daggers Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 What a boring sack of shit that was - I really don't know why I bother. *Post copy-pasted from the Big Book of Watching England on Tele

syston_fox Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 you're right Beckham should be playing, in place of FAT FRANK Lampard was solid, which is a big improvement, I'd still pick Gerrard ahead of him though How far down the pecking order do you want Lampard??
sdb Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Great team performance. Balanced for a change. Never looked in doubt after we went 1 up. James looked dodge, but everyone else did their bit and a little extra. One again we see the benifit of using just 1 of Lampard/Gerrard. DON'T CHANGE THE TEAM!!
purpleronnie Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 What do people think will happen when Gerrard is fit again, we all know that Gerrard + Lampard just doesnt work and tonight just proved why only one of them should play. I really hope that Capello sees this and has the balls to keep one out of the side
Samilktray Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 FAT FRANK Hes retired? Im lost... was it a joke I missed or soemthing.
