James. Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 It's when everything's shit that we either 1. carry on being shit or 2. put in a performance and roger the opposition 4-0. Don't ask me to come up with examples of when we have recently rogered the opposition, apart from maybe Russia at Wembley in the Euro qualifiers, but I actually reckon we'll go and win tonight. The fact that Croatia have NEVER lost at home in a competitive fixture makes it all the more likely. Maybe.

The performance will be better but nothing too exiting!! Capello's comments worry me, already he's stating that the players are under pressure and wish to play away from home. For highly paid professionals that is disgraceful!! I personally think we need to influx the team with hungry youngster, and give the team a chance to develop!!

Owen and Crouch would have been useful - I can't see Defoe or Rooney getting many goals. If Joe Cole doesn't start and Downing does, Capello deserves to be hung.

Capello's squad he has picked is horrifying. I'd have been tempted to include Agbonlahor and Young as well to give us something different. The 4 strikers he has picked is poor. Crouch and Owen are the only 2 strikers who have scored at a decent rate for us since Shearer retired.

Surely after we failed to qualify it was the perfect time to completely change the team. I like wingers and players running at defenders its not done anymore and we can take advantage of that, I know theo's crosses were poor but we have zero pace without him, we cant pass it through the middle like other european countries do, I say play to our strengths, pace and power. Its seems so obvious I have no idea why we dont do it. Maybe the same team can finally put it together and win, I hope so.

I know he's not setting the world alight at the minute but he is capeable of doing so within a matter of seconds. This ability is something however the donkey Heskey lacks. Having him up front will make the Croatian defenders laugh. He is dog awful

Having him up front will make the Croatian defenders laugh. He is dog awful I think you're going to be proved wrong tonight Tommy. Heskey offers something no other striker in the England squad can. He's always there to create things up front, whether it be bustling around defenders or simply holding it up or winning headers. Either way, he'd be a much better partner for Defoe than Rooney. On current form for England, Rooney doesn't warrant a place in the first team and needs a break until he does.
