Mickyblueeyes Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Why is this news worthy???? He hasnt won anything yet just made a claim! As someone has already said theres thousand of these claims for far more ridiculous reasons that go on every year. Just a form of muslim bashing that the media loves doing and only a idiot would struggle not to see it!

Just a form of muslim bashing that the media loves doing and only a idiot would struggle not to see it! My wife has a similar philosophy. If she doesn't want to see something, she doesn't look. I've no idea how relevent or not this story is but it does raise questions and I think we should be thankful that the media do sometimes ask us to see beyond the end of our noses and to ask qustions.
Dr The Singh Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 A load of hoo haa over nothing, the saudi and the media have highlighted something that could be easily resolved with common sense!!
purpleronnie Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 We should have introduced that policy a long time ago, now it is to late.I don't mind the people coming in if they work hard, but when I hear of things like this (and it happens a lot) it really pisses me off. er. He was still working. If it wasnt for the immigrants most alot of services and businesses would collaspse they are extremely important to the economy. And as for the australian comment, a similar points system is in place for immigrants now. People still think 100,000's of immigrants are 'flooding' into britain everyday, complete rubbish. But hey the facts should never get in the way of a good story.

But I never said they were no good for the economy, I was just saying that when I hear story's of this nature it makes me angry, I am not that naive and I know the media stir this a lot. But there are so many story's like this, one which happened at my work was a Polish guy who actually used to laugh at the way he could claim for his wife and kids back home, then when they came here, they were given a four bedroom house by the local council. The pair of them as far as I know do not work at the moment, who is paying for them? I am the first person to get on the lazy UK workers back, There are so many of them as well, so this is not a issue with nationality or race, I am no political expert like many of you lot seem to be, but I know a little bit. That is just my opinion on the matter for what it's worth.

That is just my opinion on the matter for what it's worth. I think you're about right. As with many debates on here the truth often sits somewhere between extremes of opinion. To say there is no problem with immigration and the welfare system is naive. There's clearly issues with immigrants (and British nationals) claiming benefits and exploiting what looks to be a system that lacks robustness, clarity and consistency. At the same time to say the country is being overrun by immigrants taking advantage is a massive exaggeration. We have the media to thank for blowing up the argument beyond the reality but we can also thank the ignorance of large swathes of the general public for believing everything they read. As for this story. Well, it isn't a story is it. No decision has even been made on the claim. It's a non-story, an article to incite and divide, not to help or inform.
hairy Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Another media frenzy Toddlers who dont like spicey food are 'racist'
davieG Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Another media frenzyToddlers who dont like spicey food are 'racist' I'm an adult racist
Bryn Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Another media frenzyToddlers who dont like spicey food are 'racist' To be fair they've dug out the most insane part of that story for the headline but that's exactly the way we SHOULD be dealing with things in this country. Kids as young as 3 should be having values instilled into them, 11 is far too late. Kids as young as 4 or 5 should be being warned off drugs, crime, racism, all sorts of things. The complexity of the education can increase over time.
Guest Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 I wonder who's financing the action? Legal Aid is only available if you want to appeal a decision on a point of law. There is no cost in making a claim, but if you want representation, you pay for it yourself. You can get representation on a no win/no fee basis or conditional fee arrangement.
Koke Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Front of the Daily Mail & Sun. Surely? :laugh:To be honest, if you don't laugh at this, you have problems. I giggled. Some people will have a field day with this.

Benjani Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 My mate is a Muslim and he drinks more alcohol than me
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Someone I work with is a Muslim and when he is supposed to fast, he nails Cheeseburgers for fun. Work that one out. He is a right cock as well, preaches about the Muslim religion and he does not even practice it fully.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Someone I work with is a Muslim and when he is supposed to fast, he nails Cheeseburgers for fun.Work that one out. He is a right cock as well, preaches about the Muslim religion and he does not even practice it fully. A good mate of mine is meant to be fasting now but doesnt seem to grasp the concept. My Leisure teacher goes mad at him she is also fasting and he walks in with a Lucozade every lesson.

My Leisure teacher goes mad at him she is also fasting and he walks in with a Lucozade every lesson. Exactly. I have nothing against the religion, but come on.
lookwhaticando Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 If you work in the warehouse for a store that sells lots of different stuff, you can expect to handle lots of different stuff. If you don't like what they're selling, why would you want to work there? A little like working at a vet's office, even though you hate wet poodles... one day, you're going to encounter one. Hold your nose.
Koke Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 A good mate of mine is meant to be fasting now but doesnt seem to grasp the concept. My Leisure teacher goes mad at him she is also fasting and he walks in with a Lucozade every lesson. I've met hundreds of those kind of people. I'm not in a position to label someone a fake Muslim or part timer, but people like you mentioned are on the edge of being non-Muslims. It pisses me off as well because they make a mockery of the religion. 1. Acknowledge there is only one God 2. Pray 3. Alms-giving, it's obligatory for who are able to do so. 4. Fast during the month of Ramadan 5. Perform Hajj at least once in your life time. These are the basics, and if someone is more than capable but refuses to do one of them then he/she isn't a Muslim. But hey, I'm not a judger.
Jon the Hat Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 What fun. This story is a nonsense. Without the facts it is unreasonable to judge it, so i will leave that to the tribunal. A few thoughts... To criticise the immigration system AND the immigrant is plainly nonsense. Set the rules and expect people to play by them. If you leave gaps like the ability for foreign nationals to reclaim tax instead of pro-rating a tax allowance by month then expect people to exploit it. Many immigrants have come to here to better themselves financially or in terms of freedoms or lifestyle, and most come within the rules. Fair play to them. If you have a problem then aim you complaints at the government. I do Another thing which I find incredibly harsh is that the UK is the ONLY western country which seduces foreign workers with the lure of permanent residency after 4 years then increases that to 5 while making it nearly impossible to get a visa extension. To use people to fill gaps in the NHS for example when desperate and screw them over when you no longer need them is frankly inhuman. We should expect better, and migrant workers should expect better of the UK. Set the rules fairly, in regard to the needs of the country work wise, and then hold those rules. No retrospective changes. Condemning those who are here within the rules is unfair and yes quite possibly racist.
Raj Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 ALL non whites should be burned on stakes. Fcuking immigrants come to this country and contribute nowt and take benefits and have plasma screen tvs, cars, tracky bottoms and loads of kids and all that... *may also apply to those sorts who appear on Trisha/Jeremy kyle/ and other twatty morning shows!!!!*
