Vestan Pance Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 Credit where its due, Oldham played fantastic today, Windass and Hughes had more guts and determination combined than the entire city 11 today! Well done Oldham Yep, brilliant side. Think they might be swapping places with us at the top soon What is this stupid complex that some Leicester fans seem to have? Envious of these sh*t teams cos they stick together in victory and defeat?
Guest Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 Fixed A much better suggestion Daggers. It's win-win. They can prop up the local retail economy while the people who actually want to support, and that's the key word, support, our team, can do so
Tilley Posted 7 February 2009 Posted 7 February 2009 No, as Milan would say, stay in the pub. I remember when he said that & someone in L1 put up a sign against Bristol Rovers saying 'Gone Pub' after about 75 minutes & left. The rest is history..
He's not bald Posted 8 February 2009 Author Posted 8 February 2009 You just will not stop posting like a cunt will you?Just as a reminder - here's what you said but three hoursish ago. If I were you I'd go to bed and then try to pretend it was the booze posting tomorrow. Or a small brain-damaged child. Still here, still stand by what I said!
Ultra Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 A lot of folk obviously in denial.. To fail to beat a team down to 10 men for the last 40 minutes, who had NO recognised goalkeeper, is inexcusable. Oldham outfought and at times outplayed us and were unlucky not to win. If we play like this in the Championship we'll get hammered every week. I hope Pearson is aware of the extent of the changes he'll need to make.

Every football team in every division in the world will have an off day from time to time, it pisses the fans off yes, especially those who have paid good money to watch it, but we move on and accept it for what it was. We'll be back with a far better result and performance against Swindon, and will you then be praising the players once more?
Koke Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 In the words of the mighty incredible Nationwider. I can't do anything for the haters on the forum and their hysterical over-reaction to dropping two points. Do a Joe Kinnear; see if I care. That is all I have to say on the matter.
Daggers Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 why the sudden dramatic shift in mood on the basis of one poor performance? A day drinking have anything to do with it?
Salieri Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 A day drinking have anything to do with it? ahhhh, fair play to the guy if he's just pissed, we've all been there!
Ultra Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Pissed off, more than anything else. ANY team of any quality should have wrapped that game up, once Oldham were down to 10 men. Certain players let themselves down today. If it was a one-off I could forgive them, but this is the THIRD time already this year they've failed to produce at home. We didn't tolerate this shite under previous managers. Nor should we do now.
Latics Fan Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 You're probably the only team in the league that we can battle that well against and only get the one point rather than the 3 and that shows the quality of your team. I don't think we were the better team, well maybe by virtue of the circumstances, 10 men and a 39 year old in net and that we still created chances, but I thought we were under the cosh a lot for the second half. The first half it was pretty even. Although we defended tremendously. I thought that you wasted the ball a lot in the final 3rd, knowing that we're playing a 39 year old 5ft 10 striker in goal you really should have started shooting from distance more. Anyway, good game, good performance from both teams, as someone else said, we can with a gameplan and executed it well which made it difficult for you, not many other teams are going to come to the Walkers (which is an awesome stadium) and battle like that. You'll still go up, easily. Well played. A point a piece was a fair result overall.
carterfox90 Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 oh dear :appl: to oldam they came they saw they played us off the park!! :appl:

ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Good to see that none of us are overreacting. To be honest when they went down to ten men, with no goalkeeper and Fryatt stepping up to take the penalty I was thinking game over. Oldham clearly had other ideas and I personally thought that they were outstanding for the last 40 minutes today (in particular Hughes their number 24 and 14 - don't know their names). I'm not one for excuses - we should be able to put any team in this league away under those circumstances. Some players were very poor - Dyer in particular should be your main man (i.e. a pacey wide player) when a team goes down to ten men. The team performance was poor and we certainly didn't test Windass anywhere near enough. Now for the reality check for every one who is overreacting. Even if all of the teams below us win all of their games in hand we will still be 8 points clear of 3rd place (which would be MK Dons) with 16 games to go. We need to average 1 point per game to secure promotion (84 points) which is relegation form. We haven't lost in 16 league games and our current points projection is 104! In short, get off the teams back and give your full support on Valentines day to your true love against Swindon! :city: (gotta love the smileys )
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Exactly we were outplayed for vast amounts of the game. Lets not turn into Leeds fans thinking we are better than everyone else. We have to earn the right and today oldham were the better team. Surely this can be a good sign of warning our players of complacency. Keeps the players feet firmly on the ground. Like oher said we still gained a point against a very good oldham team. Completely agree and I'm actually glad Oldham are out of the way now.. still a point gained tbh
breadandcheese Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Ridiculous thread. I make that 7 points from the last 9. Not a bad return and certainly promotion form. Oldham were one of the best team's to play at the Walkers. All credit to them and good luck for the rest of the season. I like their no. 18 Chris Taylor. He had the beating of Mattock.
Ultra Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 Completely agree and I'm actually glad Oldham are out of the way now.. still a point gained tbh So it's come to this. We play at home to a modest third division side, who are down to 10 men for nearly half the game, and fail to score against a makeshift goalkeeper. And yet the happy-clappers are telling us that WE should be grateful for the point. There used to be a time, not that long ago, when the name "Leicester City" conjured up images of quality and even on occasions, style. On last night's evidence, those days are long gone - and won't be returning any time soon.

Ultra, you've seen enough of City to know we always struggle against 10 men. I can't think of one good performance against 10 men in nearly 20 years.

It'll take more than 6 months to turn around the drifting, sinking oil tanker that has been LCFC for the last 8 years.

I can't think of one good performance against 10 men in nearly 20 years. Neither can I. (edit: apart from away at West Brom last season..) Choking against a 10-man team (and on a couple of occasions, a 9-man team) has indeed been a regular City habit over the years.
skiptonlatic Posted 8 February 2009 Posted 8 February 2009 It seems that some fans only expect a 100% winning record not unbeaten in 17 and 11 clear at the top.
