Father Ted Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Hobbs for me. Father Ted will back me up with that one! Damn right. Hobbs has been an absolute rock at the heart of the defence. Very underrated by the fans and if we don't sign him on a permanent then Pearson is a fool. He had a bit of a shaky start to the season but has come shining through and has really marshalled the defence in Tunchev's absence. HOBBSY!!! Sooper Stevie a close 2nd.
Guest Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I really like maddog's sig (not just the quality flick over from Maxi)
Gaffer Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I really like maddog's sig (not just the quality flick over from Maxi) "E I E I E I O Maddog is a twat you know. When he posts on foxestalk. This is what we sing. Fook off Maddog. Fook off Maddog. DavieG is King!"
20mj08 Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 tricky one for once as its been more an overall team performance this season before the injury i would of said tunchev as he was our rock along with hobbs at the back then you get fryatt with the great pre-contract scoring spree and howard creating space for fryatt to latch onto flick-on's ect but the one who stands out for me is oakley oakley has sowed andy king how its done this year in the cm role and its clear to see in kings performances, matty has been the one giving 110% every match and is always up and down the pitch making vital tackles to help the defence to then being up the other end putting balls through to the front two, yes hes not great at the set peices but he makes up on that with with the work rate
lildave3 Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Still can't decide between King and Steve. Voted for King, but will be ecstatic if Steve wins it.
Webbo Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 To me it was between Fryatt and Hobbs, in the end I couldn't ignore 29 goals (with possibly more to come). Fryatt for me, with Hobbs as most improved player.

RowlattsFox Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I think Fryatt deserves a bit more credit than he's getting to be honest, don't get me wrong I'm not saying he should walk away with the award because other players have been fantastic too but I wouldn't begrudge him if he did win it. People seem to be suggesting that all his goals are down to Howard. Yes Howard has been crucial but you don't score nearly 30 goals just because you've got a good partner, he has scored some excellent goals with excellent finishes and like or not, his goals in the first half of the season were crucial and put us in the strong position that we were in. He hasn't performed as well since Christmas, but he has still worked his bollocks off nearly every game. He has struggled without Howard but that could be down to having to play with Dickov and Hayles. Player of the season is usually won by someone who plays well in the last months of the season so I think Howard will win it, but I wouldn't argue if either Fryatt or Howard won it. It is brilliant to have some choices, I really don't know who to vote for.
Joe. Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 It's a credit to the team that we've got at least five very strong candidates for the award, in three different areas of the pitch too. My vote goes to Howard; we've all seen how we struggle without him. Super Steve Fickle bastard.
jonthefox Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Who would you vote for?I have left Tunchev as he has only played half a season, but he would have been my pick had he not got injured. Also, i thought it would only be out of those 5 mentioned. I vote Howard i voted king. first season n all.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Voted Howard because so much goes through him (and I don't mean his dinner). There can't be many target men that win as many aerial balls as he does, and his ability to bring others into play and keep attacks going is sorely missed when he's not in the team. Andy King would be my runner up, because despite it being his first season, he's been remarkably consistent, and consistently good as well, whereas a lot of young players play a blinder one week and don't play well again for about a month afterwards
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Matt Oakley - Promotion winning captain
Finnegan Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 I went for King, but Steve will deserve it if he wins it.
TrickyTrev Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Our two bet players this season were Tunchev and Davies by quite along way. Sadly neither played in that many games. I think Fryatt and Dyer's early season form really set the tone for what could have been a terrible season. Without their pre-christmas brilliance it really could have been a long hard slog. Howard, King and Hobbs have been consistent right the way through, and produced even when we were not so good towards the end of the season. These factors make it a peculiar decision for player of the season but I am going for Fryatt. Without his goals we would not have gone up, just about everybody else (apart from maybe Howard who came good in the second half the season) was probably replacable.

Mort Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Would have been Dyer if he hadn't had that terrible run of form earlier on in the season. Ditto... torn between Hobbs and Howard, but went with Hobbs in the end.

If Dicky started the season up front instead of fryatt......
Corky Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Today though, Fryatt stood up when it mattered. Such a cool penalty.
foxaholic Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Agreed, 31 goals is a great haul. If Dicky started the season up front instead of fryatt...... Judging by his scoring record in a better league Campbell may have done as well if given the chance
scinnell Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 its between king orhoward but i would just say king because hes younger
leftsideoverhere Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Howard. All that time creating goals for other people and getting stick for doing so. Despite that, he's carried on, and added goals of his own. Top man, no doubt.
