purpleronnie Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league.
Unabomber Posted 18 April 2009 Author Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. If you can't lighten up now and enjoy the moment, i'm not sure you ever will.
StanSP Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Does that make Thracian Jesus? I'm Jesus. I was born on Xmas Day.
Samilktray Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. Oh dear.

What a bellend!!! Any promotion is a result. If you got one at work you would be chuffed wouldn't you?. You would feel like you had acheived something, would you not?. ( except schools don't offer promotion do they?)
Guest Bilo Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. Jeez. We've achieved that something that Forest, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City all failed to do. Promotion in the first season as champions. The best any of these clubs could achieve was a runners-up spot, and even then Forest would have been nowhere if not for Leeds' 15 point deduction. It's an achievement, so enjoy it.
MC Prussian Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 I'm Jesus. I was born on Xmas Day. Thracian's actually pretty close to that date, too. You two make that out amongst yourselves, then.
gosfox Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. FFS get a life
Ultra Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Purpleronnie is right. And once the euphoria subsides, Pearson will acknowledge as much. Yes, I'll celebrate winning our first league title in nearly 30 years. But there have been many cases of promotion-winning managers coming unstuck in the league above. If the manager can get us to the top flight and keep us there, THEN he will deserve deity status..
Glenfield Fox Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. It maybe a "Micky Mouse" league but it's a hard league to get out of. Someone on the rdio said we are the first team in a decade to bounce back at the first attempt, not sure if that's correct but it's agrat achievement by the club.

Babylon Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. Oh come on... baring oakley, howard and fryatt he has pretty much rebuilt the whole squad, for 750k!!! For that he deserves a bloody knighthood.

There have been other examples within the last 10 years: Manchester City: Relegated to Division Two 1997/98, bounced back to Divison One 1999/2000 Walsall FC: Relegated to Division Two 1999/2000, bounced back to Division One 2001/2002 Crewe Alexandra: Relegated to Division Two 2001/2002, bounced back to Division One 2003/2004 Brighton & Hove Albion: Relegated to Division Two 2002/2003, bounced back to the Championship in 2004/2005

What about 98/99 Man City 2000-01 Walsall 2002-03 Crewe 2003-04 Brighton...
MC Prussian Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Bounce back... the next year!!What about 98/99 Man City 2000-01 Walsall 2002-03 Crewe 2003-04 Brighton... That's what I meant. All four teams mentioned did just that, I guess the way I put it is a little bit too confusing.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Bounce back... the next year!!What about 98/99 Man City 2000-01 Walsall 2002-03 Crewe 2003-04 Brighton... What phube is trying to say is this... if they HAD bounced back the next year THOSE would be the years they were promoted back in - which they weren't.

If you want to look it up on Soccerbase, just the way I did it - you'll see that all four teams got straight back to Division One/Championship the year after they got relegated.

Yes, and if you read the sentence correctly you'll see that's what I'm saying.
CosbehFox Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Well done on getting us out of this micky mouse league but I'll leave my over the top praise until he does something in a 'real' league. The achievement might not be much but Pearson had to pick up a squad low in confidence and galvanise attitude. He spotted the poor parts of the team and got them sorted. Then, gave the likes of Fryatt and Howard the confidence to push on. The first part of the season was excellent management, the middle less so because the players' tails were up and the end he did well in steading the ship. He deserves a part on the back.
MC Prussian Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Yes, and if you read the sentence correctly you'll see that's what I'm saying. And if you read my post on the previous page, you'd see that I was trying to say the right thing.
