Dan Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Francisco Sandaza - Dundee United. Good goalscoring rate hes got.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 If we are serious about making the top ten next season, we need a striker with real quality. For us to get one of those we either need to go for a striker who has lost his way, but has produced the goods in the past (Ellington, always wanted to see him at Leicester) or we take a gamble on someone unproven and hope we strike lucky. Thankfully, Pearson and Walsh seem to be unearthing some decent and astute players for us and that will need to continue even more so for next year.I'd look abroad, rather than pay £2 million or so for Simon Cox, Ricky Lambert etc. Pretty much sums it up.

There are plenty of decent strikers around in the championship that I'm sure we could challenge to buy; for instance Paul Gallagher.
Foxestalc Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Giovanni Dos Santos, Peter Halmosi, Matt Duke To add to the Hull theme, how about Caleb Folan? Aint done much in the prem, but looked decent when i saw him at champs level. Could be back up for Howard. Cost em a mill, so we praps could snap him up for quite a bit less. May be reliant on hull staying up though
teblin Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Francisco Sandaza - Dundee United. Good goalscoring rate hes got. I have been impressed with him the times i have seen him. Good touch, quite mobile, decent in the air and good finisher. But it is scottish league, and players who couldn't get in our side in league one do well in it. Might be worth a gamble if no more than 200K.
General Smuts Posted 6 May 2009 Author Posted 6 May 2009 Chris Powell needs a new contract like i need Chris Powell.
Joe. Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Huddersfield have allegedly shown an interest in Kevin Phillips. I don't know whether or not he'll be ditched for the Premiership season, but the bloke knows where the goal is. I thought he might be too old not so long back, but if he's available he'd be a good signing for us in my opinion. Proven, consistent and experienced.

He's not too old, he's younger than Chris Powell.
Rocky Dennis Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Could we be after this bloke, pretty good from what I remember, and he scored against us (I think) I know we're pretty sorted at the back but we were linked with him in January,

Pricey Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Don't need him. Wouldn't feel that confident with him at the back in the Championship even if we did.
flanimal Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 A striker from eastern europe is coming. I reckon he's either Hungarian or Czech.
MC Prussian Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Please let the Tony Warner rumour remain one. With Stockport in administration, is there a chance we could get Owain Fon Williams for cheap? (Although I doubt he or Stockdale would want to play backup)
Dan Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 A striker from eastern europe is coming. I reckon he's either Hungarian or Czech. Jani Sturm
MC Prussian Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 A striker from eastern europe is coming. I reckon he's either Hungarian or Czech. For this man here, I'd make an exception and declare Austria as Eastern European, too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Janko Shame we'd have to fight off Premiership competition... that and Celtic.
Salieri Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Nathan Ellington. And Jason Roberts. J.R and The Duke. Back together.
Guest Gist Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I know we've got money to spend but wouldn't like to see it wasted on players that probably don't hit it off here like Campbell. Should make the most of the loan system and spend where we know its going to be value for money, people like Phillips will always provide goals.. Even though I doubt we'd get him.
Jimmy Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Carl Fletcher just been released by Palace, not a bad player, could be worth a punt
wiggy1975 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Yes to Cox and can't agree with you more - we don't want flapper Martin in goal, nor Dangerous Davies from Saints LWICD - do you want to pin this one and amend the transfer talk guidelines to include this thread rather than last years? My tuppence: We need a keeper - Bunn/Stockdale/Warner (not Martin) A right back - Gilbert/Mouatakil Left back - Bale or realistically Kelly Youga Holding midfielder - Morgan Schneiderlin 2 strikers - Cox/Beckford/Vokes Other options - Adam Lallana, Rudi Skacel, Andrew Surman (they won't play for Southampton next year)
