Pricey Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Stephen Appiah - Still without a club Would love to see him here, just the sort of midfielder we need I think. How long has he been without a club?
C-man Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 John Stead as cover for Steve. I'll elaborate. Never really had that good of a goal scoring record. Until this season on loan at Ipswich, where he's been pretty decent. With Roy Keane there, he's likely to be let go back to Sheffield United, who probably won't want to keep him if they do indeed clinch promotion next week (heaven forbid). He's got 13 goals in 25 starts for Ipswich, and he's a more than realistic target.
Head Honcho Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Aim high I say Keeper-Carlo Cudicini-May be available on a free Striker-Emile Heskey-You never know it might be worth a cheeky bid!

I think Stead would be a very decent signing, but why on earth would he chose bench warming at Leicester ahead of first choice at Ipswich. FoxesFan123 Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 Emile Heskey? In a few years, yes, maybe. But he's just made a 4million transfer to Aston Villa, a club who at the time were expected to be in the Champions League next season. And he's still an England International. Seriously, why would he drop to a Championship club that have just come up from league 1. Appiah - hasn't been with a club all this season and half of last season. Top player, must be a reason why he can't get a club. I doubt we'd have any chance still.

Keane let him go from Sunderland, he's pretty certain not to be starting there by the beginning of next season. He probably won't be there anyway!

That's not to say he'll still be at Portman Road in August given his history with Keane.
shiv Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 As someone mentioned before, Shelvey would be a great signing. He's only 17 and he's at Charlton so it's realistic. Matt Holland is also a realistic target. As for Andrew Surman, Zheng Zhi and Kevin Phillips, all three of them are outstanding and I would love to see them at Leicester next season!
Super Arj Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 scott sinclair on a season long loan?? danny welbeck?? savio from west ham (loan)
Mort Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 As someone mentioned before, Shelvey would be a great signing. As for Andrew Surman, Zheng Zhi and Kevin Phillips, all three of them are outstanding and I would love to see them at Leicester next season! The one thing that makes me nervous about throwing names about is some players get mentioned simply because we recognise the names or because they ‘were’ good rather than because they have something to offer… Saganowski, Zheng Zhi and Holland are prime examples IMHO. Having said that players like Surman and Shelvey defiantly seem to have more to offer than a couple of good write up from match reports or a few goods games and a memorable name. Shelvey in particular has an impressive record that should mean he gets snapped up by a bigger side even if it’s just on a speculative basis (but there’s few clubs outside the prem who are in a position to be making speculative signings). Based on the last season, Pearson is level headed and informed enough to know what makes an astute signing and seems unlikely to plum for players with questionable claims to fame… however i wouldn’t rule us out of having a look at the likes of Surman and Shelvey, while also making a try for younger talent on loan from the Prem… in fact I think both would be very sound players to bring on board. Meanwhile there are older players (perhaps like Philips) who could add something special to our existing squad, which is still a fair way off being ready for next season as it currently stands.
scinnell Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 A goalkeeper is required so we have a few to stab at. Joe Lewis [Peterborough United] Joe Murphy [s****horpe United] David Stockdale [Fulham] David Martin [Liverpool] Kelvin Davies [southampton] - A little dodgy though I would like a full back as well. Although I would attempt for Gilbert, we need a few back up plans - don't know many right backs though. Kerrea Gilbert [Arsenal] Frank Simek [sheffield Wednesday] Midfielders are key. I would have a stab at a few so there is competition. Zheng Zhi [Charlton Athletic] Andrew Surman [southampton] Rudolf Skacel [southampton] Peter Leven [Milton Keynes Dons] Although I would start with Fryatt and Howard, we need a striker or two for competition. Rickie Lambert [bristol Rovers] Marek Sagnowski [southampton] Marcus Tudgay [sheffield Wednesday] Simon Cox [swindon Town] None of these, apart from Tudgay, are big men really and we need one of those. Any ideas? lamebert is a big man
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 April 2009 Posted 26 April 2009 I said in the Lee Hughes rumour thread that I wouldn't mind him actually. He did something stupid when he was drunk, do you honestly think that Ian Wright would've condoned what he did? Obviously not. It was a stupid, petulant thing to do, but not everyone's perfect. If he wants to come here and score goals, then I'd take him. I'm sure plenty of other players have done worse, but have had the luck not to be picked on by the press. No offence but "something stupid" equates to putting a traffic cone on a statue or breaking a window.... what he did was far worse than stupidity! I think 99% of us on here have been drunk at one time or another but we dont choose to get behind the wheel of a car and then hit someone and leave them for dead and then try and get away with it .... thats not stupidity thats the lowest form of life. So yeah I was talking about Bradley Wright Phillips and his petty theft. Why would Ian Wright give a toss what Lee Hughes does? Read my post, as well as the post I was replying to, again.
