norfolkfox222 Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 What do people think for next season!? If whats been said about Clemence is true it looks like he will be with us next season! So should he be captain or should we give the club captaincy to Oakley? Personally i think Oakley should keep it hands down!! He has been a great leader all season and deserves the chance to lead us in the Championship next year! I think if Clemence has it I think it could cause some disruption etc! I really hope Pearson makes the right decision! What everyone else think??

Jimmy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 there's nothing to decide, Clemence is the club captain so if he's fit and playing it will be him
Koke Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 there's nothing to decide, Clemence is the club captain so if he's fit and playing it will be him Club captains can be changed. Fabregas took over from Gallas. Gerrard took over from Hyppia many years ago. Nothing is for certain. Matt Oakley should definitely keep the armband.

General Smuts Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Neither - Chris Powell. Chris Powell for President!
Koke Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 yes it can be changed but Pearson has given no indication either way, so as it stands it would be Clemence I doubt Pearson would do anything that could possibly change the current team spirit that we have. We'll see though.
Jimmy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 I doubt Pearson would do anything that could possibly change the current team spirit that we have. We'll see though. and we're also assuming that Clemence will get in the team ahead of Andy King
Lovejoy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Oakley has been Pearson's captain, I can't see him changing a winning formula. NP didn't change much unless he had to during the season, I can't see him stripping Oakley of the armband.

NP didn't change much unless he had to during the season, I can't see him stripping Oakley of the armband. Oakley has been captain by default though, for all we know Pearson wanted Clemence as captain but didn't have that option, every time the Mockery has mentioned Clemence they refer to him as club captain and I'm sure I've seen Oakley referred to as stand in captain
Koke Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 and we're also assuming that Clemence will get in the team ahead of Andy King I'd be outraged if King was dropped in favour of Clemence. King deserves a crack at Championship football. He has earned his place and Pearson would be a knobhead if he drafted Clemence, who haven't played football for over 18 months, in instead of King.
StanSP Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 and we're also assuming that Clemence will get in the team ahead of Andy King I'm not. I think King should keep his place. Him and Oakley have shown how well they can work together this season, and disrupting this by bringing in a player who hasn't played in years may cause problems. Keep the central midfield as it is and keep Oakley captain.
Collymore Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Clemence won player of the season when Brum got promoted a few season back - Then again, DJ banged in nearly 20 goals too if I remember rightly If Clemence does replace king next season then he will have to be in sensational form, I'm all up for competition.
Lillehamring Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 isn't there a difference between 'club captain' and the captain on the pitch - this would explain why the merc still cal clem the club captain
Mr Happy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 To strip Oakley of the captain's armband would be cruel after hes had a fantastic season. I would wouldn't give Clemence the armband because: Firstly he hasn't played any football in, over 18 months I think somebody said? Secondly he needs to prove himself in a leicester shirt again because we already know Oakley is a fantastic captain for us so why would we want to ruin that by giving the captaincy back to Clemence, whose last season for us was poor?
Jimmy Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 isn't there a difference between 'club captain' and the captain on the pitch - this would explain why the merc still cal clem the club captain they can be but most of the time they are 1 in the same Spurs are the only 1 I can think of where the Club Captain (Ledley King) doesn't captain the side (Robbie Keane)

Skipper Clemence started 32 games in 2007/2008 and we were relegated at the end. Great advert that.

Fact.
Maybes Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 I would be quite happy if Stephen Clemence were to leave the club.
Dr The Singh Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 I can't see Clemence making a come back of any real note........not saying he can't prove me wrong!! Oakley will be captain, it will be interesting to see who partners him in midfield though...............................
Walshy5 Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Oakley should definitely keep the armband. He,s been outstanding this season. Clemence is shite he should never even play for us again never mind about giving him the captaincy!
davieG Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 Mid-field = Oakley King Clemence Dyer/Gradel Clemence Captain My prediction not my preference. Unless we sign someone better.
