A man who started his career in 1985 in Milan and will finish his career in 2009 in Milan. You can never praise this gentleman too much. Incredible career.

Raul's got some years left in him and I wouldn't be surprised if he spends them at Real. Micah Richards and Stephen Ireland if they continue to serve their purpose with the increased cashflow at Eastlands?

Players like Ryan Giggs earn credit here for similar achievements and rightly so, but I can't see him being an ever-present in Man United's squad in five years time as Maldini is in Milan. Also worth remembering his father also played for Milan, lifting the European Cup there, and his son is in the Milan youth team. Three generations at the same club is surely unique.

He will be lucky to get a starting place in he Man City team let alone whether he will be at club for over 20 years. Ridiculous

Raul i'll give you although cant really say he's one of the modern day footballers (thats kinda what i meant although i dont think i worded it right) having been around for so long. Gerrard will break down at some point due to all his injuries, but your right terry has a chance

breadandcheese Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Maldini is one of the greatest players to ever play the game and arguably the greatest ever defender, ahead of Bobby Moore, Beckenbauer, Baresi, etc. He's a superb pro who shows up a lot of players for the ****wits they are.
