I mean, a knock out round followed by a group round where you only play each other once with the top three going through, followed by more knockout? Ridiculous. Rebranding it the "Europa League" is probably just going to make it even more of a joke.

dandannieldanok Posted 20 May 2009 Posted 20 May 2009 Disappointingly going to miss this unless of a last minute change of plans. Would have fancied Werder with Diego but not without him, Shakhtar have a slightly stronger defence out of the two imo and should therefore win.

Srna, Rat, Ilsinho, Moreno, there's actually a fair bit of quality in there. Overrated Werder need to win this to avoid the season being branded as a failure. Quite impressive given their league position that they have two attempts to qualify for next year's Euro League though

Next year's comp means teams have to play an extra 17-19 games I think. Going for Shakhtar win. No reason at all. If they don't win, then obviously it wouldn't affect me at all.

But I agree by calling it the "Europa League" it sounds like a joke.
