Daggers Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Good news, Man United will sign who? They can now afford Elvis Hammond's wage demands. This is all brilliant news - one of my most despised players joining one of my most despised teams...all the more irrational reason to hate them both.
Granno Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Ferguson can suck on my cock. Not literally. Good news, Man United will sign who? Ricky Sappleton
Uncle Albert Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Is it a done deal? Love United to waste a bulk of this £80 million on someone like Benzema and him have an absolute mare at Old Trafford. If Chelsea and Liverpool can tweak their squads with one or two players then I think them pair will be ruling the Premier League next season.
Granno Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 I think next season could be Liverpool's time. Losing Ronaldo will be a huge blow for United.
Daggers Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 I think next season could be Liverpool's time. Losing Ronaldo will be a huge blow for United. Depends on Man City buying wisely and gelling quickly...but if there's one thing Fergie has proved over the years it is that he is highly adept at kicking out players and still rolling on. "No player is bigger than the team" - and he was never a team player in the first place.

Agreed.
potter3 Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Damn right I will be getting a Real shirt with Ronaldo on the back - that's if Ronaldo does actually go. I can still there being a twist in this. Thinking about the Real team next season, on paper it looks beautifully good but I can't see them doing well. Casillas Ramos - Pepe - ? - DrentheDiarra - SneijderRonaldo - Kaka - RobbenRaul Their problem will be fitting Raul into the team. Unless they stick Raul in the three behind the striker, I can't see him playing well as the main striker holding the ball up for the midfield three. He just doesn't seem the right type of player for it. Huntelaar would be better I think. I also can't see them sticking Sneijder into a holding role. He hasn't got the game for it. If anything Ronaldo would swap with Raul in that team. Real Madrid could have bought Newcastle pretty much the same price. And which would you rather have?
TrickyTrev Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Real Madrid could have bought Newcastle pretty much the same price. Probably got a better deal signing Ronaldo.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 Nah, they'll just use the money to buy more immigrants.****ing foreign footballers, coming over here taking our jobs....... willy puller. They'll be a force next season but as the story has always been at Madrid they wont win as much as they want to with their stupid club philosphys and addiction to "exciting football" Barcelonas team will still be balanced and will pip still pip Madrid to the league title. Now if they had gone out and spent 140 Million on sorting that good awful defense out they might get somewhere. Don't know if the 'willy puller' thing is in reference to my above post but I was actually being ironic.
lildave3 Posted 11 June 2009 Posted 11 June 2009 And which would you rather have? Probably got a better deal signing Ronaldo. I know, but still, pretty amazing to think you could get a whole (massive) club for the price of one player.
Unknown Fox Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Now if they had gone out and spent 140 Million on sorting that good awful defense out they might get somewhere. If I were Real Madrid I would concentrate on buying a world class defender. Even with Kaka and Ronaldo they'll still lose 6-5! Real Madrid will not win anything I don't think this season, sole reason because their defence is shite and their manager changes every 5 minutes. Agreed IMO I don't think Madrid have not been sound defensively since the days of Hierro and Carlos in the days of the Galacticos, if Perez wants Madrid to have another Galactico era again, they will definitely need to spend money on balancing the team.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 How can a team that's 600 million euros in debt be the richest in the world? They have the highest income of any club. Being €600M in debt if your income is €400M a year is really not that bad. Most companies are more indebted. Also think about mortgages of 4.5 x income. Man utd I believe have around double that debt. On the wages front you missed my post on tax. Players in Spain pay only 20% tax on their incomes, Vs 40% here. So a net £200k salary in the UK actually costs Man utd more than £350k a week vs costing Real Madrid around £275k (or £4m a year more). Over a 5 year contract that is £20m. This all assumes the player negotiates a net deal which I think they mostly do these days. Even if not the player would accept a lower overall package in Spain becasue it is worth more. That is not to say they will not sell some of those second tier players. Robben and VDV I can see moving, and we already heard that Van Nistelrooy is on the move.
BlabyFox Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Thought youd be happy........ one less immigrant over here! He's an immigrant that works!
Matt Posted 12 June 2009 Author Posted 12 June 2009 Shit, Just read his wage will be around £29m a year.

Thinking about the Real team next season, on paper it looks beautifully good but I can't see them doing well. Casillas Ramos - Pepe - Garay? - DrentheDiarra - SneijderRonaldo - Kaka - RobbenRaul I'm guessing Garay will take that spot.. ? Not to mention the omissions of Higuain, Huntelaar, Gago and Marcelo
Jon the Hat Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Shit, Just read his wage will be around £29m a year. £9.5m a year in year 1 increasing by 25% a year to a maximum of £29m in year 6. £107m in total. That is a lot of money.
maddog Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 You work 40 hours a week for 40 years, and Ronaldo will earn more than you in 1 week. And all he may have to do is a few hours of training. Fooking ridiculous bullshit http://msn.football365.com/story/0,17033,1...5375834,00.html
breadandcheese Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 £9.5m a year in year 1 increasing by 25% a year to a maximum of £29m in year 6. £107m in total. That is a lot of money. This is the most surprising aspect of the deal, in my eyes, if true. Real are shrewd marketeers but I cannot see how Ronaldo will be able to add 25% worth of value year on year over his 6 years, both commercially or in terms of playing ability. So to give him a contract guaranteeing a 25% increase year on year is bizarre.

Manwell Pablo Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Don't know if the 'willy puller' thing is in reference to my above post but I was actually being ironic. Nah Ronaldo I ment
Shrenchel Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 He'll probably leave after 3 anyway. Yeh there was a Spanish paper today saying that it looks like the deal is built on the assumption that'll he'll sell a fook load of shirts, have 2 or 3 decent seasons and then get bored, throw a strop and demand a move somewhere else.
