Kilworthfox Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I honestly think us, Derby and Forest are very even in terms of support. The away supports for last season back it up and us and forest were the same averages at home during our league 1 seasons and the most recent CC ones. Derby are marketed better and their fans being well taken care of financially at the moment, that is all. Their season ticket prices compared to us and forest proves this. So what Hoos is saying in my opinion is nothing short of a discrace. I am getting a Derby ticket next season instead of a Leicester one! It was just sold to me better!
Koke Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Arsehole, couldn't have been a worse time to come out with this tripe after yesterday's revelations. Never in a million years will this club be averaging a 29,000 gate this season. Tommeh is right. Our fan base is pretty much on par with Derby's, but they are being taken well care off - and plus they came back off a Prem season and still had the mentality that they would go back straight up. If the situations were reversed we would probably average what they were averaging, and vice versa. But on the whole, I agree, Hoos is talking loads of bollocks.
Bert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Lee Hoos couldn't care about us, at the end of the day he's still getting his nice wages, not having to pay for his match tickets! I agree with Ched, our fans hardly get any benefits.

How can Leicester fans actually say that you are as big a club as Derby? We get bigger gates than you and we have won the league & played in the European cup! What have your tin pot club ever achieved? DCFC 4 lyf
leicesterseddon Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 What was this bloke thinking? Calling on a football club's fans to emulate their rivals? Predicting higher gates only hours after raising prices? It defies belief to be honest. Who on earth thought this was a good idea? Debates about the size of football clubs have been around for years. Derby have had good average attendances for the past 2 or 3 seasons, but one swallow doesn't make a fooking summer. I've always seen Sheffield Wednesday as a bigger club than Derby, and their attendances have been shite for the past few seasons. The only real indicator of a club's fanbase is away support - and on that front I still think we match or beat anyone in the Championship, with the exception of Newcastle.
lcfc_jme Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 What a massive Bell. We'll average somewhere between 21k and 23k, as with every season in the Champ. Big whoop. Prices shouldn't be increased if they want full-houses, especially in these financial times.
john_lcfc Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 maybe tommorows mercury headline should be "Fans calling on Hoos to outdo the rams" Leicester city fans are calling on Lee Hoos to get his head out of of his arse and match benefits that the rams board offers its fans. Bring back Tim Davies,

Bring back Tim Davies, Bless him he's quite simple and really not a charismatic man at all, but he's a football man and cares more about the fans (even sympathises with people who want the freedom of choice inside stadiums) than this wand at the minute.

foxoffderby Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Having lived and worked in derby for the past 20 years and speak to Derby fans everyday this is what I think: The points made by most city fans are quite valid. Derby went to the prem we went down to league 1, we lost a lot of journeyman fans at this point they gained a few. They do get a lot more season ticket holders than us but they do get a lot more insentives. Our board need to address this, for example im a season ticket holder in the main stand, when I first got a season ticket they promised me if I renewed the following season they would charge me less for loyalty. They no longer offer this. A derby fan I know pays about £125 less than I do for a similar seat in their main stand. Derby have also pumped more money into their team since since they more moved to Pride Park then us at the Walkers. We've had to put up with watching dross for many years now Derby simply look after their fans a lot more. Derby, Forest and City have a similar fan base but Derby offer the best deals. I can understand what Hoos is saying we need to be like Derby, but the club must do their bit by offering better incentives to seaon ticket holders and pump more money into the first team then more people will go, instead of relying on people like me who show blind loyalty and travel from as far away as Derby everyweek to follow their team. Im lucky in a way I can afford to do this but there are many who cant. The club should think twice in a resession about putting up prices.

MC Prussian Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Hoos let the dogs out... I hope they come back to bite him.
Filberts lovechild Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I can't believe he has said this what a tool. Derby give their tickets away for a used condom and a packet of walkers crisps. I don't see us getting many good ticket deals or at least as often as Derby. Hoos OUT!!!

ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 The only reason Derby fill their ground is because they sold loads of season tickets when they got promoted two years ago by giving priority for play-off final tickets to those who bought a ST early, and managed to retain them last season by offering a cut-price deal. Even now they offer deals such as an unused ticket programme allowing STHs to get free replacement tickets for future matches if they miss a game. You even get something like 90% of a ST for free if you buy a mobile from their sponsor. If Derby's next few years in the Championship are as bad as our 05-08 period, and they were to get relegated to the 3rd Division, there is no way they would average anything better than what we did at the same prices. And whoever is head of PR at the club is obviously as thick as two short planks. How they can leak the price increases to the Mockery (it appeared on their website before the OS) one day and then give them a story hoping for bigger gates the next is beyond belief. I mean what sort of reaction do they want? These two points in particular really rile me! Raising the prices in the current economic climate and then challenging the fans to show their support is plain moronic and incredibly short-sighted on the clubs part. The idea of giving giving you an additional ticket to a future game if you miss one is a masterstroke - this would cost the club virtually nothing (unless the game is a sellout!) and I see no reason why this could not be introduced immediately.
foxoffderby Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 Todays Derby Telegraph Derby accept the challenge Derby County: Foxes aim to outdo Rams fans Saturday, June 20, 2009, 07:30 LEICESTER City are hoping to challenge East Midlands rivals Derby County's title as best supported club in the region. The Rams topped the attendances chart in the Championship last season with an average gate of 29,440. Leicester averaged 20,233 in League One last season but Foxes chief executive Lee Hoos has called on the fans to boost that figure following the club's promotion back to the Championship. "I would really love us to emulate Derby," said Hoos. "They have a reputation as the best supported club and that rankles with me. "They have the same-sized stadium and had 29,000 in the ground every week and I would love to see our average capacity up there. "It is close to 21,000 now and it is a goal to be better supported than Derby. "We'd love full houses every week, as we had against S****horpe at the end of last season. We want to replicate that great atmosphere in every game." Derby's arch rivals Nottingham Forest averaged 22,299 at home last season. The Rams are hoping to push their average attendance back up over 30,000 in 2009-10, and have already sold 22,000 season tickets ahead of the new campaign, which starts with a home game against Peterborough United on August 8.

The only thing Hoos has done has started a competition with ST sales which he knows LCFC will not win. He is trying to guilt the fans into purchasing a ST by suggesting that we are not as loyal as Derby fans. Well done Mr Brains, your ploy will get a few more plebs through the turnstiles who will fall for your trick, however the vast majority of fans will have to put up with the failed challenge of our supporters to purchase ST's for the coming season and have shagger fans beetling on about this for years to come. If Hoos was genuinely interested in filling the ground then surely concessions should have been made to the loyal fan base? Well this did not become a reality earlier in the year did it when a "price freeze" was offered if you renewed early or suffer the price rise if you leave your ST purchase until the usual June - August time. Last point on this from me.... Why have the prices gone up in a recession, especially when in the last 6 seasons this football club has continually failed on the pitch and off it? The biggest failure came when we were relegated on Manaric's watch, a season when we had 6(?) managers? Is it really now the time to be questioning the fans loyalty from a man who is not a Leicester fan, and these so called issues, are they really keeping him up at night? Are they feck! Lapdog tries to boost sales by giving nothing back to the fans, but an insult and now a few years of ribbing from the tossers up the M1. F- Hoos must try harder next time.
Scow Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 I can see why he's been so successful at Fulham and Southampton.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 That is quite an achievement, Derby are way ahead of us and Forest in terms of current support.
leicesterseddon Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 That is quite an achievement, Derby are way ahead of us and Forest in terms of current support. Well, home support at least. These things are all transient. The situation could be completely reversed in a few years' time.

Exactly, support between us, Derby and Forest is pretty much identical in terms of numbers (all of which are excellent considering where we all are), Coventry is the poor relation
