Forgot to add mine- Like a tomato in the rain, I got that feeling again, Like a Greyhound in a race, I got a rabbit to chase Courtesy of the Kaiser Chiefs. General Smuts Posted 9 July 2009 Share Posted 9 July 2009 Lyrics have always been my favourite part of any song. If it makes me laugh i instantly like the song. When i was one of them emo types i used to take lyrics to heart as well. Some of the lyrics that stuck out the most: 'Lovesick and sick of it' 'I've got secrets trapped in my fishnets I'm a coward man that works in an office block I was a child who craved for a new world I was a boy who yearned to be a cover girl' Plus any Smiths lyric on The Queen Is Dead. purpleronnie Posted 9 July 2009 Share Posted 9 July 2009 Bob Dylan 'Chimes Of Freedom' Far between sundowns finish an midnights broken toll We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight An for each an evry underdog soldier in the night An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. In the citys melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched With faces hidden while the walls were tightening As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin rain Dissolved into the bells of the lightning Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an forsaked Tolling for the outcast, burnin constantly at stake An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail The sky cracked its poems in naked wonder That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunder Striking for the gentle, striking for the kind Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind An the unpawned painter behind beyond his rightful time An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. Through the wild cathedral evening the rain unraveled tales For the disrobed faceless forms of no position Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts All down in taken-for-granted situations Tolling for the deaf an blind, tolling for the mute Tolling for the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute For the misdemeanor outlaw, chased an cheated by pursuit An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. Even though a clouds white curtain in a far-off corner flashed An the hypnotic splattered mist was slowly lifting Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones Condemned to drift or else be kept from drifting Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale An for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. Starry-eyed an laughing as I recall when we were caught Trapped by no track of hours for they hanged suspended As we listened one last time an we watched with one last look Spellbound an swallowed til the tolling ended Tolling for the aching ones whose wounds cannot be nursed For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones an worse An for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe An we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing. General Smuts Posted 9 July 2009 Share Posted 9 July 2009 Back in school they never taught us what we needed to know Like how to deal with despair or someone breakin your heart For twelve years I've held it all together but a night like this is just beggin to pull me apart I played it quiet left you deep in conversation I felt uncool and hung out around the kitchen I remember I kept thinking that I know you never would And now I know I want to kill you like only a best friend could Everyone's caught on to everything you do Everyone's caught on to... As if it happening wasn't enough I got to go and write a song just to remind myself how bad it sucked Ignore the sun, covers over my head Wrote a message on my pillow that says "Jesse, stay asleep in bed" don't apologize (I hope you choke and die!) Search your cell for something which to hang yourself They say you need to pray if you want to go to heaven But they don't tell you what to say when your whole life is going to Hell! Everyone's caught on to everything you do Everyone's caught on to... Everyone's caught on to (and I can't let you let me down again) everything you do Everyone's caught on to... (and I can't let you let me down again) So is that what you call a getaway? Well tell me what you got away with Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids Have another drink and drive yourself home I hope there's ice on all the roads And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt then again when your head goes through the windshield Is that what you call tact? You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back So let's end this call and end this conversation And is that what you call a getaway? Tell me what you got away with Cause you left the frays from the ties you severed when you say "best friends" means friends forever Is that what you call a getaway? Well tell me what you got away with Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids Have another drink and drive yourself home I hope there's ice on all the roads And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt then again when your head goes through the windshield (I can't let you let me down again) Everyone's caught on to everything you do (and I can't let you let me down again) Everyone's caught on to... (I can't let you let me down again) Everyone's caught on to everything you do (and I can't let you let me down again) Everyone's caught on to... Confession. I used to <3 Fall Out Boy lyrics. General Smuts Posted 9 July 2009 Share Posted 9 July 2009 How hard can it be To get a slap on the back from a room full of morons? So you hate my sunglasses? Well your precious Leeds is dead Just so long as you know The clean and the green Make up you're music scene And shy away from the words That they've written for me Can't you see that Someones got their eye on you now Don't you know? And I don't want to be the one to let you know La la la la can you hear me I don't know La la la la can you hear me I don't think so You should leave it to me We cover insignificant miles for a miniature bottle Do you know what I mean? I don't think so But we go for a smoke in the Smoke And I like what I see It's a vicious cycle but who cares when it's happening to me? It's obscene Can't you see that? Someones got their eye on you now Don't you know? And I don't want to be the one to let you know La la la la can you hear me I don't know La la la la can you hear me I don't think so

Webbo Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 There’s a man I meet walks up our street He’s a worker for the council Has been twenty years And he takes no lip off nobody And litter off the gutter Puts it in a bag And never seems to mutter And he packs his lunch in a sunblest bag The children call him bogie He never lets on But I know ’cause he once told me He let me know a secret about the money in his kitty He’s gonna buy a dinghy Gonna call her dignity And I’ll sail her up the west coast Through villages and towns I’ll be on my holidays They’ll be doing their rounds They’ll ask me how I got her I’ll say I saved my money They’ll say isn’t she pretty that ship called dignity And I’m telling this story In a faraway scene Sipping down raki And reading maynard keynes And I’m thinking about home and all that means And a place in the winter for dignity And I’ll sail her up the west coast Through villages and towns I’ll be on my holidays They’ll be doing their rounds They’ll ask me how I got her I’ll say I saved my money They’ll say isn’t she pretty that ship called dignity And I’m thinking about home And I’m thinking about faith And I’m thinking about work And I’m thinking about how good it would be To be here some day On a ship called dignity A ship called dignity That ship

Webbo Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 Well we were born within one hour of each other. Our mothers said we could be sister and brother. Your name is Deborah, Deborah. It never suited ya. Oh they thought that when we grew up, we'd get married, and never split up. We never did it, although often I thought of it. Oh Deborah, do you recall? Your house was very small, with wood chip on the wall. When I came around to call, you didn't notice me at all. I said let's all meet up in the year 2000. Won't it be strange when we're all fully grown. Be there at 2 o'clock by the fountain down the road. I never knew that you'd get married. I would be living down here on my own on that damp and lonely Thursday years ago. You were the first girl at school to get breasts. Martyn said that yours were the best. The boys all loved you but I was a mess. I had to watch them trying to get you undressed. We were friends but that was as far as it went. I used to walk you home sometimes but it meant, oh it meant nothing to you, cos you were so popular. Deborah do you recall? Your house was very small, with woodchip on the wall. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Ah do you recall? Your house was very small, with wood chip on the wall. When I came around to call, you didn't notice me at all. I said let's all meet up in the year 2000. Won't it be strange when we're all fully grown. Be there at 2 o'clock by the fountain down the road. I never knew that you'd get married. I would be living down here on my own, on that damp and lonely Thursday years ago. Oh what are you doing Sunday baby. Would you like to come and meet me maybe? You can even bring your baby. Ohhh ooh ooh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh. What are you doing Sunday baby. Would you like to come and meet me maby? You can even bring your baby. Ooh ooh oh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh. Ooh ooh ooh ooh. Oh. As a decorator, any song that name checks woodchip is OK by me.

Granno Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 Do you know what's worth fighting for, When it's not worth dying for? Does it take your breath away And you feel yourself suffocating? Does the pain weigh out the pride? And you look for a place to hide? Did someone break your heart inside? You're in ruins. One, 21 guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, 21 guns Throw up your arms into the sky, You and I When you're at the end of the road And you lost all sense of control And your thoughts have taken their toll When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul Your faith walks on broken glass And the hangover doesn't pass Nothing's ever built to last You're in ruins. One, 21 guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, 21 guns Throw up your arms into the sky, You and I Did you try to live on your own When you burned down the house and home? Did you stand too close to the fire? Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone When it's time to live and let die And you can't get another try Something inside this heart has died You're in ruins. One, 21 guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, 21 guns Throw up your arms into the sky (x2) you and I.
purpleronnie Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 Love this song by John Prine, you may of never heard of him but dylan is a fan and Johnny cash was a fan of his work. We lost Davy in the Korean war,And I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore. Hello In There We had an apartment in the city, Me and Loretta liked living there. Well, it'd been years since the kids had grown, A life of their own left us alone. John and Linda live in Omaha, And Joe is somewhere on the road. We lost Davy in the Korean war, And I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore. Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger, And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day. Old people just grow lonesome Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello." Me and Loretta, we don't talk much more, She sits and stares through the back door screen. And all the news just repeats itself Like some forgotten dream that we've both seen. Someday I'll go and call up Rudy, We worked together at the factory. But what could I say if asks "What's new?" "Nothing, what's with you? Nothing much to do." So if you're walking down the street sometime And spot some hollow ancient eyes, Please don't just pass 'em by and stare As if you didn't care, say, "Hello in there, hell
Ultra Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 Sup up your beer and collect your fags - There's a row going on down near Slough. Get out your mat and pray to the West. I'll get out mine and pray for myself. Thought you were smart when you took them on, But you didn't take a peep in their artillery room. All that rugby puts hairs on your chest. What chance have you got against a tie and a crest? Hello-Hooray - what a nice day for the Eton Rifles. Hello-Hooray- I hope rain stops play for the Eton Rifles. Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse, Tore down the house of commons in your brand new shoes, Composed a revolutionary symphony, Then went to bed with a charming young thing. Hello-Hooray - cheers then, mate. It's the Eton Rifles. Hello-Hooray - an extremist scrape with the Eton Rifles. What a catalyst you turned out to be: Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea - Left me standing like a guilty schoolboy... What a catalyst you turned out to be: Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea - Left me standing like a naughty schoolboy... We came out of it naturally the worst: Beaten and bloody, and I was sick down my shirt. We were no match for their untamed wit, Though some of the lads said they'd be back next week. Hello-Hooray - it's the price to pay to the Eton Rifles. Hello-Hooray - I'd prefer the plague to the Eton Rifles. Hello-Hooray - it's the price to pay to the Eton Rifles. Hello-Hooray - I'd prefer the plague to the Eton Rifles. Still as relevant now as when they written in 1979..
Salieri Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 One of my favourite Bob Dylan songs, 'IT'S ALRIGHT, MA (I'M ONLY BLEEDING)' Darkness at the break of noon Shadows even the silver spoon The handmade blade, the child's balloon Eclipses both the sun and moon To understand you know too soon There is no sense in trying. Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn Suicide remarks are torn From the fool's gold mouthpiece The hollow horn plays wasted words Proves to warn That he not busy being born Is busy dying. Temptation's page flies out the door You follow, find yourself at war Watch waterfalls of pity roar You feel to moan but unlike before You discover That you'd just be One more person crying. So don't fear if you hear A foreign sound to your ear It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing. As some warn victory, some downfall Private reasons great or small Can be seen in the eyes of those that call To make all that should be killed to crawl While others say don't hate nothing at all Except hatred. Disillusioned words like bullets bark As human gods aim for their mark Made everything from toy guns that spark To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark It's easy to see without looking too far That not much Is really sacred. While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have To stand naked. An' though the rules of the road have been lodged It's only people's games that you got to dodge And it's alright, Ma, I can make it. Advertising signs that con you Into thinking you're the one That can do what's never been done That can win what's never been won Meantime life outside goes on All around you. You lose yourself, you reappear You suddenly find you got nothing to fear Alone you stand with nobody near When a trembling distant voice, unclear Startles your sleeping ears to hear That somebody thinks They really found you. A question in your nerves is lit Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy Insure you not to quit To keep it in your mind and not fergit That it is not he or she or them or it That you belong to. Although the masters make the rules For the wise men and the fools I got nothing, Ma, to live up to. For them that must obey authority That they do not respect in any degree Who despise their jobs, their destinies Speak jealously of them that are free Cultivate their flowers to be Nothing more than something They invest in. While some on principles baptized To strict party platform ties Social clubs in drag disguise Outsiders they can freely criticize Tell nothing except who to idolize And then say God bless him. While one who sings with his tongue on fire Gargles in the rat race choir Bent out of shape from society's pliers Cares not to come up any higher But rather get you down in the hole That he's in. But I mean no harm nor put fault On anyone that lives in a vault But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him. Old lady judges watch people in pairs Limited in sex, they dare To push fake morals, insult and stare While money doesn't talk, it swears Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony. While them that defend what they cannot see With a killer's pride, security It blows the minds most bitterly For them that think death's honesty Won't fall upon them naturally Life sometimes Must get lonely. My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards False gods, I scuff At pettiness which plays so rough Walk upside-down inside handcuffs Kick my legs to crash it off Say okay, I have had enough What else can you show me? And if my thought-dreams could be seen They'd probably put my head in a guillotine But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.
Jay Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 I think these lyrics are total genius Trent Reznors lyrics to Hurt. I think you can put these lyrics and draw reference from numerous different situations and to every person the lyrics will mean something else but it's just such a personal song the Cash version is basically my favourite cover and video ever. And the NIN one as well I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I am still right here What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt If I could start again A million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way
Hugo Sanchez Posted 10 July 2009 Share Posted 10 July 2009 There are places i'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends i still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life i've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When i think of love as something new Though i know i'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know i'll often stop and think about them In my life i love you more Though i know i'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know i'll often stop and think about them In my life i love you more In my life i love you more
