Webbo Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 I've just got back from a weekend in London and I feel like I've bearly scratched the surface. You'd be stupid to travel all that way from Oz and not visit London (as I'm sure you've decided anyway).
ousefox Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 You've got to come to York. Northumberland is also great- good castles... Enjoyed tower of london.
AoWW Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Spalding and Sleaford for culture and quaint, picturesque scenery.
lavrentis Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Spalding and Sleaford for culture and quaint, picturesque scenery. You serious?
purpleronnie Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 London is brilliant lived there for a while, not sure why people are so down on it, sure there are bits that aren't pleasant and dirty but most of it is clean and vibrant, certainly a lot cleaner and nicer than a lot of other cities I've visited in europe and elsewhere, and london is one of the greenest cities in the world, loads of great parks and scenery.
Daggers Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 A lot of people may slate London but for a visitor from Australia it's an absolute must. There's probably more to see in London then the rest of the UK put together. Bwahahahahaha... Sorry Jim, but get the fuck out. Did you write that statement for some kind of Thracian-esque effect or have you never been outside the city?
AoWW Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 You serious? Yes. Erm when I say 'yes' what I actually mean is 'no'. Sleaford... picturesque? How the fook could you think I was serious?!!!
James. Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Bwahahahahaha... Sorry Jim, but get the fuck out. Did you write that statement for some kind of Thracian-esque effect or have you never been outside the city? I thought you'd bite but I didn't think you'd be the only one! I was taking the piss but in doing so trying to emphasise that ozleicester and any other tourists should ignore people telling them not to go to London as that'd be stupid. As it happens he's already been... But yeah I'm Leicester born and raised Daggers, only been here for about 5 years. I do love it though, probably as much as you hate it.
davieG Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 It'll be The Trip, Olde Trip to Jerusalem as it's properly known. We really miss some character boozers in Leicester..... Why stop at boozers?

BlueSi13 Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 One for each country of the UKThe Gower or Lleyn Peninsulas Giants Causeway The west coast of Scotland (Skye, Mull, Argyll) The beaches of Cornwall I've been to may excellent countries in my time but Cornwall is my favourite place in the whole wide world, absolutely magical, a MUST for any tourist to spend at least a week there traveling around, with the focal point being Mevagissey, it's as wonderful as it gets!
Trumpet Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 Did you not have fog lights? Fog lights are for people to see you, not for you to slice through the fog, leaving a clear path of vision. Are you REALLY an idiot?
Fox96 Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 how long are you in the UK for?obviously loads to see in London Tower of London, London Eye, Big Ben, The British Museum is a must (and free!!) boat ride down the Thames, Imperial war Museum (another free entry place), St Pauls Cathedral Madame Tussauds Is an alright museum. Don't know if there is a theme park on the east, unless Thorpe Park is east. Fantasy Island in Skeggy has some good raves (it used to anyway) if you that way inclined
