BBC - The Football League Show 2009/10

Why?

It was decent.

I agree!

I don't actually hold anything against any club - personalities maybe but hating a club? Bit narrowminded if you ask me.

Leeds are the only unbeaten club in the league at the moment...

Right.

1. Don't show extended highlights of games that ended 0-0 when there were plenty of more exciting, more interesting alternatives, just because they involve 'big' teams.

2. Don't give the majority of the games about 10 seconds of highlights and then waste ten-minutes talking about 'the history of Colchester' - very interesting I'm sure but I'm looking for FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS, not some History Channel expose on small football teams.

3. Don't show a League One game first just because it's the top two playing each other - I don't recall City vs S****horpe getting featured that much on The Championship last season, do you?

Frankly, this programme is a bit of an embarrassment at the moment. Manish is an okay presenter but he needs a decent style of show to present.

Finally, what is the opening sequence all about? I could've done something better with a camcorder and Windows Movie Maker...

1. So you didn't want them to show our 0-0 extended highlights with Ipswich earlier in the season? The production company, IMG, which sends several trucks, tens of personnel to the main games, at a cost, will not end up not using the footage they record. Whether it is 4-4 or 0-0, they were going to show extended highlights.

2. That I agree, I don't really care about the history of a team, or the views of people, they are clearly a tactic to extend the length of the show, and it's crap. I'd rather have 1-2 minutes of a round up for every game in the FL.

3. Why not? It was a big game, and bigger than any game in the CCC. The reason Scunny-Leicester wasn't shown last season was because ITV was a crap broadcaster, who really didn't give a damn about their FL coverage. I applaud the BBC for actually showing extended highlights of League 1 games. Remember, it's called th FOOTBALL LEAGUE SHOW, not THE CHAMPIONSHIP anymore. Why shouldn't the BBC give preference over bigger games in lower leagues.

The show isn't brilliant, but it is a damn, damn sight better than ITV's effort. the League 1 and 2 coverage is greater, and the Championship round ups are longer too. Manish isn't a bad presenter. But sorry, as much of a legend as he is, Steve 'Sitting on the fence' Claridge isn't the most voacl or best analyst in the world.

And yes, the opening credits are bloody awful.

But it's the first season, and I hope they make changes mid season or at the start of next season.

Oh and the biggest gripe with the show.... Why do they seem to think MIDWEEK fixtures don't exist :@

I was not impressed with the game that was shown first.

Ridiculous. League one game over many more exciting Champ games?!

And Roy Keane was funny :P

Keano is soooooo close to losing the plot.

To the tune of 'there's only one keano'

'Keano, you've never won a game, you've never won a game'

i enjoy the show, think it's good. Opening game was a dodgy choice but maybe they don't have the flexibility we get from MOTD. E.g not commentators at all games/smaller editing team bla bla

I don't understand the resentment towards the Leeds/Charlton game being shown first. A few seasons ago, this would have been a Premiership match, and given their starts to this season, all credit to them. :dunno:

I don't mind the extra features, Mark Clemmit is good for the show and it's informative as well- I had no idea that Colchester played the PHG before.

The coverage of the lower leagues is far greater than the ITV equivalent was, actually showing the goals and having a show on international weekend.

I didn't mean don't show them at all, just not before the non-scoreless games!

If the BBC started showing the most exciting game that weekend as their main game, I would get very suspicious.

I'll go get a life :D I weren't really livid, that 'ooooh' thing is just an old TV quote, I just thought Preston v West Brom was far more deserving than the shower of shite at Elland Road. Fair enough, it had the potential to be a very good game, but it wasn't.

I bet they won't show an Oldham or Exeter game first. I think they only did it cos of Leeds fan base, and not for any other reason. It was a shit choice.

I don't mind the show, it's no less interesting to watch than the Championship was, although I agree they could make it much better.

Claridge would be an OK pundit if he had someone next to him, on his own he just doesn't cut it.

I'd prefer to have a red button 'view extended highlights of your team' as really I'm only interested in watching us and maybe if there is a big score line somwhere.

I actually quite like the opening credits, at least it hasn't got U fking 2 in it.

Would be good if Stevey Claridge could deliver at least one fact without gawping down at his notes. You barely see his face during the show. Would also be good if there weren't 160 different cameras in the studio; Manish doesn't know where to look half the time.

Manish Bhasin presents all the goals from the day's Football League action. The Midlands derby between Leicester and Derby will be a further test of Nigel Pearson's progress, with a Leicester side that have hit the ground running after promotion last season.

I guess that means that the match will be streamed in various places over the interweb too for all those that cannot attend.
