Spark Fox Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'm not querying that (Shrewsbury's ability or the "you can't beat..." comment), just the fact that we've scored four against Shrewsbury in what's virtually a training match, and now all of a sudden, we don't need anymore than Howard and Fryatt, with a winger, a spent Dickov, and an unproven Chambers as back up?Give me a break. We DO need two more strikers - and not just back ups.. and adams looked great in pre season last year at Kettering, but shit himself when the going got tough. He needs to up his game if he's to get anywhere near the squad. today means little as far as that is concerned NB 14k a week for Lita on a free transfer would be 1,456,000 over a two year contract. Less than we paid for DJ campbell in transfer fees. A GOOD DEAL IMO. Especially if he scores 15+ goals alongside the other strikers.

It depends where you are aiming for, to stop in this divison we can live with what we've got, maybe get mid-table. If we want promotion then we are verging on desperate. I think we'll get quite a few 1-0 wins this year though and be very similar to Derby a few seasons back.

Could all the people saying we need a new striker please provide a name of somebody who is; a) Proven to be better than what we've got. b) Willing to come here and within our price range. Signing any old striker just for the sake of it is just a pointless waste of money.

I still find it unbelievable that Pearson finds anything valuable in Dickov. In the good old days he was useful for running about and getting himself about, of which he can no longer do. Therefore he now serves very little purpose.
