JadeFalcon Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 loved the match fryatt should take notes from waghorn on how a forward should play
The Reverend Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Good start. Seems to be have been a rarity over the last few years (last year excepted of course). Excellent win though, good to see 2 debutant's score aswel - often it seems that it takes players ages to settle and get that first confidence boosting goal. Just watching soccer Saturday aswel - they're spending ages on us, even showed all the goals! Brilliant.
crazylegs1984 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 what a game at half time i was ready to give up but the changes that was made WOWWWWW! excellent starts lads and carry on this way!!!
flanimal Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Waghorn, blimey. And there was me saying this was a desperation signing. He's way more of a threat than Fryatt! Serve me my humble pie now, because I'm feeling peckish!
flanimal Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Oh, and Nicky Adams - backheels it in, 1-2 off the corner flag - if he scored from that, would've been greatest goal ever! If Ronaldo did something like that, it'd get about 3 million hits on YouTube - Nicky Adams does it, bet it doesn't even get shown on TV!

I doubt something like that will ever be done again that was just genius, if he had scored i would agree it would have been probably the greatest goal ever...
flanimal Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Even to attempt it was brilliant, but he almost did it. Absolutely insane. Never even witnessed Ronaldinho try something that mental. GENIUS.
Salieri Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Think she deserves one from me too. What does she look like. She looks well and truly fooked now..... Anyway, where were we?
MC Prussian Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Foxestalk all over BBC Radio Leicester this evening!!! Lovin' it!!
Joe. Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Well, what can I say? Really, reall pleased first of all. There's no doubt that the better team won it on the day, and it would have been a bit of a travesty had we not at least got a point out of that. Swansea did nothing throughout the game except put the ball in the net once. Anyway, onto us. As you can imagine the first half wasn't the greatest, but we didn't play that badly either. I didn't manage to see their goal as I hadn't finished working at that moment, but it was from a set-piece, and that looked about the only way Swansea were going to score. We were knocking it around fairly well without creating anything particularly of note, and thus we went down a goal at the break. Fryatt clearly wasn't ready for it, which was disapointing. It was also clear that Oakley wasn't working as a right-sided player. What wasn't disappointing were the couple of aces Pearson had up his sleeve. Could you ask anymore of two half-time substitutes? They were hugely impressive, both of them. The second half was excellent in all departments. Right from the off we stated our intentions, and you could sense a goal coming at some point. I said that if we scored we could quite easily go onto win it, and that's exactly what we did. Waghorn looked sharp, and N'Guessan was getting dangerous crosses in that were finding a Leicester shirt. So it wasn't really a surprise to see us with a real chance of getting back into the game with the penalty. I said that Howard would miss. The penalty was pretty woeful to be fair, but it didn't put us off. We continued to press and got the rewards when Waghorn equalised. A handy (and very big) deflection got us back into the game, and we didn't look back. The second goal went in, and all was well. We could have got a third had it not been for the crossbar too, very unfortunate for N'Guessan this time. Overall, a brilliant start with a performance to match it. In 07/08 we would have just rolled over and died, but not this time. Pearson should take great pride from his double subsitution at half-time which totally changed the game. Fryatt's position in the team is in major doubt if Waghorn can continue to put performances in like that.
Salieri Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Can't wait for the highlights tonight Is it repeated in the morning in case i pass out fall asleep?
maddog Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Poor first half, then we could have scored 5 or 6 in the 2nd half. A stunning 2nd half performance, Waghorn played very well and looks a better player than Fryatt ever did last time out in the Championship. I know Fryatts not fit yet though so it's nice to have options now. All we need now is another forward and a left back and we will be sorted. Berner played outstanding today, anyone concerned about him playing will be very pleased, his performance today betters all of Mattocks last season. He got forward well, won us the peno, which was awful from Howard, who played very well winning a lot of headers and challenges. I still think Fryatt is the only real problem in the side, Waghorn is young and inexperienced so may not play that well week in week out, we need another Fryatt type striker in the side, or just give Dj a go. Morrison coped well although looked shaky on occasions, Weales kicking was fantastic he had fook all else to do, and Brown is clearly a great defender. And we still have Tunchev to come back fit again We all feared the worst when Howard missed that penalty, to come back from that and dominate nearly scoring a lot of goals was great. Waghorn
Asha Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 We were very average first half. I didn't even notice King playing, he was just out of the game. Dyer was ineffective, and Fryatt did nothing for me. As others have said, I felt disappointed at half time. Second half though was incredible, the injection of pace that Waghorn and N'Guessan bought made the difference, and I think Howard missing the penalty just spurred us on ever more to get an equaliser, and then win it. Delighted with that victory, and looking forward to the 3 away games now, hoping we carry that on
Brainy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 we need another Fryatt type striker in the side, or just give Dj a go. you what!? that'd be 12 goals from two strikers in about 120 games then/

Delighted with that victory, and looking forward to the 3 away games now, hoping we carry that on I also didn't realise King was playing. Literally can't remember thinking theres King hes got the ball once. I didn't even notice him running around in circles as he sometimes does. Got to say Nicky Adams looked outstanding, a superb 15 minutes, what a cross with his left foot when N'Guessan hit the bar. Adams could quite easily start at Ipswich for me, as could Waghorn and N'Guessan.
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 As I sent the text moaning about King underperorming and Fryatt's pace (or rather 'lack of') letting us down in the final third - Pearson goes and changes the side. We lacked someone in the hole during the first half, King simply wasn't there, and chances we were creating were being wasted as Matty's feet and brain were too slow to use them, for whatever reason. Delighted with the new boys, each and every one...but Wellens was a class apart from any other 21 people on the pitch at any given time. His vision, his awareness, his tackling and distribution was top drawer. Certainly not the performance or the result I was expecting - I'm delighted with that.

I doubt something like that will ever be done again that was just genius, if he had scored i would agree it would have been probably the greatest goal ever... Yes guys, he really meant to do that. Onto the game.... Poor first half, schoolboy defending which led to their goal, if we're to do as well as we hope to, that stuff needs to be cut out. Fryatt clearly wasn't macth fit, and it was good that Pearson seen it and made the changes that effectively won us the game. Waghorn and N'Guessan were brilliant today, but then again they both had something to prove. Andy "The Championships Lampard" King? Don't make me laugh, I only realised he'd been playing when the tannoy announced his substitution after half time. Oakley and Wellens played well all game, but they were both much more effective when Oakley was in the centre. Nicky Adams made a massive impact when he came on and I wouldn't moan if he played the next games in place of Dyer who was poor today. We defended quite well throughout, although there were a few shaky moments in the first half and Wayne Brown did really well to prevent a probable goal and cream their player who was an absolute Tuwaaaat. Berner impressed me a lot too, Joe Who? I take it I wasn't the only one who knew Howard was going to miss? Swansea were poor all game, very rarely threatened and I can only recall one save that Weale had to make and one other chance that nearly equalised. A team full of wimps, the only two players that can come out of the game for them with any credit, is Dyer and Williams.
lildave3 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Just increases my love for Nigel Pearson. Losing at half time and he brings on two new boys who change the game hugely. N'Guessan, Waghorn and Wellens were ace today. Special mention to Wayne Brown for that tackle too.
Dames Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Hopefully Waghorn's performance silences the people who whined about not giving our youngsters a chance over him.
Little Nicky Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Great performance today from the lads in the second half. I was a bit dispondant at half time, because we weren't playing bad but just couldn't find a way through! Inspired from Mr Pearson at half time, where has he dug Waghorn up from, he set the game alight, seemed to be everywhere, getting on the end of balls and harrying their defence, he could be a gem! N'Guessan looked pretty tastey, was unlucky to hit the bar. We'll forget the Howard penalty because he never looked like putting it away, but thankfully it didn't matter. I don't want to get carried away but I was very impressed with the attacking mentality second half, we were very good! Kudos Nigel Pearson!!!
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Hopefully Waghorn's performance silences the people who whined about not giving our youngsters a chance over him. ...but unfortunately they're all now telling RL that he's the next Rooney and we should sign him. After 45 minutes.
izzetafox? Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Great win! im on holiday in devon and i stumbled across full commentry of the game from a avery biast bbc wales and iwan roberts and some other welsh guy. I was soooo peed off at half time as the welsh guy was going on about how this leicester team wernt a patch on the swansea one that won league 1 2 years ago, and that we couldnt pass a ball and they didnt think we were going to create anything, and i thought to myself big np would sort them out at half time and the talent on the bench would do something, and how they changed there tune in the second half, finally admitting swansea lost to the better team!!! cmon leicester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
