coale39 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Anyone know why the game was late kicking off? didn't seem to finish till gone 5pm! Also what's the news on Tunchev? Not even on the bench today.. Forget about him, hes crap now.
Budweiser Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Swansea?! Attacking!? Yeh apparently The police were giving them a good smack as they rushed towards the city fans. I wouldn't mess with those horses, massive.
Dames Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 ...but unfortunately they're all now telling RL that he's the next Rooney and we should sign him. After 45 minutes. Wayne Rooney comments are way off the mark But if he churns out a few more performances like todays then we should look into signing him.
Sods Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Such a different second half to the first, nothing got going in the first half. No anticipation no players making runs, no taking on off players. Then the two new lads came on and it was a different team. The game changed with Oakley being brought into the centre making us more physical, and with N'Guessan and Dyer causing problems with their pace, you could tell it wouldn't be long till we was going to score. That Waghorn is quality, Wellens and Howard will have fun with this guy. Hopefully he is here till January.
DeclanMC Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Good message at the bottom of the stats page in the programme!
Trumpet Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 "Gary don't worry we'll make sure there's enough coverage of Leicester city's winning return to the Championship"

jonw88 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 "Gary don't worry we'll make sure there's enough coverage of Leicester city's winning return to the Championship" Could they have mentioned Leicester any more during that program? So glad the football league is on BBC now, we'll have lots of coverage and some nice biased views of the pundits!

Fox92 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Good game today I really enjoyed it. First half was poor. Oakley is not a right winger, Morrison is not a full back although we have to play him there at the minute and it looked as if Fryatt and King were tired out! Nigel's subs were immense and both Danny and Martyn added essential and much needed pace to the team. Pleased with Martyn Waghorn who seems to be like a Tevez-like striker. Great first touch, adds pace, obviousley haven't seen his finishing abilities but looks like a very good signing on loan, hopefully perminant. He seems to spot the gaps and runs into space, where as Fryatt sometimes doesn't. Then again, he plays under Bruce at a Premiership club so that says it all. Worried about N'Guessan coming from Lincoln of course in League 2 and just thought whether he'd be good enough but in the 45 minutes he seemed ok. Again he had pace, quite tall and sometimes won his headers. Second half was better, as said, pace was needed and when we got it, it was better. Oakley better in the middle of midfield, his natural position, and Bruno seemed to have a better half. Thought it was game over after the penelty but pace provalled and we seemed to get better. Knocked the ball around well, ecspecially via Richie Wellens. For me, King was to lightwait. Not sure about Weale, there were a few times when my dad and I recognized that he could of shouted for the ball and didn't. Otherwise not alot to do but did it well when called upon.
MrSpaM Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 that comment at the end of the newcastle game was priceless. It's about time we got some good comments, just about all the pre-season reviews i read either missed us out completely or gave us about 5 words. If we keep playing like we did in the second half today, we can get results against teams like newcastle and west brom. Havnt seen the rest of the games today, but if the newcastle v west brom game is anything to go by as far as quality, we've got just as good a chance as anybody else in this league this year. Looks like their admitting defeat too http://www.planetswans.co.uk/Article.aspx?ArticleID=9685
isaidno Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Really enjoyed the second the second half , Pearson deserves all the praise he's getting for the subs. Dyer was the weak link for me, didn't play wide enough, kept drifting into the middle. I love my new season ticket seat , only 1 seat in front of me then the stairs so i've a great view & I've got a super hot blonde girl siiting at the side of me
Bert Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Lovely day. The most inspired thing the Swans did all afternoon was order a dozen pizzas to be delivered to their team coach after the game. Honestly. In these days of sports science and nutritionists you couldn't make it up.I could watch Wayne Brown tackle for 90 minutes every week. I swear would do it too. Itd be like watching stock car racing or a drunk on the dodgems. I reckon they should change the rules about shirt numbers so he can have number '100' and then we can have a little percentage sign stitched on afterwards. The new boys were all solid, and Richie Wellens in particular was inspiring. I thought we did ok first half and didn't really deserve to be behind. But the shift in gears at half time was a thing of beauty. NP's ability to read a game and make tactical changes is ever more impressive. If only he could get the pre-match talk to be as effective as the half-time one... Just hope Nicky Adams doesn't decide the corner flag thing is worth trying again though. Once in a lifetime, that. Every club does it.
Joe. Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 What was Dany's goal like? Corner from Oakley, headed down by Howard for N'Guessan to stab home.
nuttytimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 What an excellent spectacle and a perfect example of football as a game of two halves. As far as I see it, we were simply dire in the first half. It seemed that once again we were out of our depth in the Championship. But Pearson made what can only be described as the most brilliant changes and N'Guessan and Waghorn changed the game. All this means, going forward, is that we have three points on the board from the off - five points from the next three games and a result against the Barcodes on Sky will leave me, Nigel and the squad very happy and in a decent position to work forward. However, I am concerned about Fryatt. He was clearly unfit today and Waghorn was simply a better player on the day... where does this leave young Matty, who did so well last season? Is it conceivable that he could be dropped? Before jumping ahead of ourselves, let's remember that it was only one game. Let's hope there's just more of the same as what we saw in that second half. UTF.

Nath Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Trouble - Swansea fans trying to get out after being kept in... police horses held the gates shut... Then a minibus, full of pissed up welsh, came from somewhere in the leicester car park, stoped in the traffic by the holiday inn, got mouthy, jumped out the minibus and a little scrap began with some leicester fans. Police, 100 yards away, realised a couple of minutes later what was happeing! Anyway, good performance second half. First half a bit iffy, but a win is a win. On another note... Some people saying on here that it apears Mandaric is looking to sell up... You may not be wrong!
lou Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Brilliant second half, the three subs were the stand-out players and outshone any other player in blue. Waghorn applied pressure on their defence, N'Guessan kept firing balls in the box and Nicky Adams was a great outlet (plus his squaring up to their players twice ). They didnt outshine Wellens who was brilliant for 90 odd minutes! They were however, excellent and turned the game around. Im not going to get carried away but was very impressed with what I saw in the second half. Berner has stepped up the Mattock plate and showed him hes not going to be missed. I wasnt too despondant at half time as I thought we were still the better side and hoped we would come back to score at least once and I thought Nathan Dyer was bound to tire sooner or later . Wasnt impressed with their players bar Dyer and Williams and thought the diving and trying to get ours booked was pretty low, especially Lopez who was a complete Penis. Hopefully Fryatt and King who were the worst of the day IMO, will improve. Im very happy this evening and looking forward to Macclesfield. EDIT... was surprised at how quiet their fans were 3200 of em and you could hear a pin drop
Katy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 After a very shaky start (to be expected really) we actually looked quite good after the double substitution, we were flashing some lovely football about at one point. Waghorn looks a great acquisition and can control the ball and also pass which is a rarity in a Leicester side Swansea got what they deserved in the end, they had the ref on their side for long periods of the first half and time wasted to the max, I don't think they can complain. Plus I was within spitting distance of Iwan Roberts and Richard Smith at one point before the game AND Gareth was there
