Jimmy Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Weale 7 - some vital saves and commanded his area well Neilson 6 - committed, solid but didn't stand out Hobbs 7 Brown 8 - had Henderson in his pocket Berner 6 N'Guessan 6 Wellens 7 Oakley 6 Adams 7 Howard N/A Fryatt 6 Waghorn 7 Dyer 6 King N/A
Samilktray Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Weale - 7 Decent enough but his kicking was poor. Nielsen - 5 Dont rate the guy at all. Hobbs - 7.5 I like the lad alot. Brown - 7 Started well but got sloppy towards the end. Berner - 7 Decent but dont get all the fuss over him. N'Guessan - 6.5 Not the best but I seen enough to think he could develop into a very good winger. Oakley - 7.5 Very good. Wellens - 8 Class, his passing is top notch, as Tevez rightly pointed out, could be the answer to Englands central midfield problems. Adams - 7 I dont rate him but he was decent, I wish our wingers would run at the opposing fullbacks more though if Im honest. Howard - 0 Fryatt - 5 Deceptively quick. Subs: Waghorn - 6 Didnt really do much wrong. Dyer - Wasnt on long enough to judge. King - Same as above.
BedsFox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 7 - impressed. Very reliable Neilson 6 - did the job defensively, apart from one first half incident nothing got down their right wing Hobbs 8 Very good indeed. Unruffled Brown 8 - Superb. Man of the Match. Warrior Berner 7. Struggled a bit towards the end but a very dependable player N'Guessan 6 Ran the left back ragged first 30 mins, never carried it on after that. Raw potential is there for sure Wellens 7 Bit less effective tonight Oakley 7 Solid, good partnership forming Adams 7 Very effective first half, less effective defensively second half, leaving Berner exposed Howard N/A Fryatt 6 Getting in the positions, but isn't converting enough of the chances. Lets put that down to lack of match sharpness, slight injury at the moment Waghorn 6 Never really threatened, but set up Fryatt for a couple of good chances Dyer 6 Useful outlet in the last fifteen King 6 Held the fort in the last ten
Ultra Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale - 7 Neilson - 7 Hobbs - 8* Brown - 7 Berner - 7 N'Guessan - 6 Oakley - 6 Wellens - 6 Adams - 6 Fryatt - 6 Howard - N/A Waghorn - 6 Dyer - 6 King - N/A
Scow Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale - 7 He didn't have much to do apart from a few confident claims and one good low save in the second half. Excellent kicker of the ball. Neilson - 7 He was generally solid and his throws were a threat. Lucky for him that most of United's attacks in the second half went down our left because it looks like he could be exposed with a quick winger against him. He seemed to lack communication with N'Guessan down the right and perhaps should have demanded more from him position wise as he did tend to get drawn into the centre. Hobbs - 8 A typical Hobbs performance: solid, commanding, but his distribution can be a bit wayward. Brown - 9* Absolute beast. He was so authoritative in the air and organised the back four brilliantly. A great character to have in the side. Berner - 8 Another fine display from Bruno. Very composed defensively and offensively, though he understandably looked a bit exposed when Cotterill and Quinn were brought on. N'Guessan - 7 A bit hit and miss. Showed promise and proved to be a useful outlet in the air, but he lacks decisiveness at times. Oakley - 7 Involved with the goal and continues to impress alongside Wellens with their ability to keep the ball. (well, in the first half anyway) Wellens - 8 As well as being a very talented ball player, he works bloody hard too. Gets his body in the right position and shows his composure to pick out the right pass. Adams - 7 A surprise inclusion perhaps, but I think his pre-season and current form merited a start. Showed some good promise in the first half - always wanted the ball and looked a threat cutting in from that left side. Faded somewhat in the second half as United raised the tempo. Fryatt - 6 Despite the goal, he again looked a bit off the pace, but looked dangerous in the first half. Surprised he lasted the full 90. Howard - N/A Subs: Waghorn - 7 Worked ever so hard and used his stocky build to good effect at holding up the play. Struggled in the second half as the service deteriorated. Dyer - 6 / King - 6 Both players didn't really make an impact; merely there for fresh legs.
lildave3 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Wayne Brown, Jack Hobbs - Different gravy. Loving them at the minute, especially Wayne. Always talking, always knows what to do.
Jimmy Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 Wayne Brown, Jack Hobbs - Different gravy. Loving them at the minute, especially Wayne. Always talking, always knows what to do. agreed and to have someone of Tunch's quality in reserve is fantastic

maddog Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 8- Caught the ball superbly when under pressure. Neilson 5- He just gets caught too many times and i was nervous everytime they attacked down the left, i prefer Morrison in that position. Brown 7- Solid. Hobbs 7- Solid. Berner 9- Star man yet again for me, so much better, composed, than Mattock. N'Guessan 8- Really went for it and was totally shattered at the end. Wellons 7.5- Very good tackles and passes, good player. Oakley 7- Decent enough, not as good a player as Wellens though. Adams 7.5- Another eye catching performance from him. Fryatt 6.5- He did get us the goal but missed crucial chances which could have won us the game, i still get frustrated watching him. Howard 6- Weren't really on long enough. Subs: Waghorn 5- Thought he was weakest this time, the game was too quick and physical for him and he struggled to get into it and get the ball. King 5- Don't know why NP didn't bring Dickov on to try nick a winner. The only time i noticed King in his 10 minutes was when he gave it away. Dyer 6.5- Did ok but we hardly had anything of the ball 2nd half, would have been nice to see Dyer get it more. But weren't on long enough. Fans 10- Great atmosphere/chants.

C-man Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I didn't even realize Ched Evans and Darius Henderson were playing until Joe told me this morning. Hobbs and Wayne were storming.
Corky Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I didn't even realize Ched Evans and Darius Henderson were playing until Joe told me this morning. Hobbs and Wayne were storming. Seems like Tunch has got a real battle on to get back into the team.
C-man Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Seems like Tunch has got a real battle on to get back into the team. Unquestionably. I think it's terrific that we've got such competition for places, all over the pitch really. Oh, and Weale is fucking amazing.
Guest Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Unquestionably.I think it's terrific that we've got such competition for places, all over the pitch really. Oh, and Weale is fucking amazing. Very true Weale - 7 Berner - 8 Brown - 8 Hobbs - 8 Neilson - 6 - Despite a few errors he also made some crucial interceptions. Think he'll get better once he's had a few games Adams - 6.5 Wellens - 8.5 - Awesome!!! Oakley - 7 N'Guessan - 7 Fryatt - 6.5 Howard - N/A Dyer - 7 King - 6 Waghorn - 6
casablancas Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale - 7.5 Can't believe he was getting stick from someone on here last night. the lad played a blinder! Berner - 8 Again, Joe who??? Hobbs - Solid Brown - 8 Solider... Neilson - 6 - I think he does have potential at this level, however so does Morrison Adams - 7 - Played alright Wellens - 8.5 - MOTM enough said Oakley - 7 Played well N'Geeesaaan - 6.5 tale of two halfs for him really. I like him though Fryatt - 6.5 we're getting there Matty. Couple for him on Sat Howard - N/A. Get well soon Dyer - 6.5 Could have had more of an impact King - 6 Ineffective Waghorn - 7 Chases everything I really enjoyed the match and we maybe shoulda scored in the first half. However I am well pleased with the result. Gonna be an exciting season for sure.
RowlattsFox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale -7- Not too many shots to save but handling very good. Neilson -7- I thought he was better than he seems to be getting credit for, especially second half. Lots of crucial interceptions. Hobbs -8 - Immense. Brown -8- As above. Quality. Berner -8- Getting better and better. N'Guessan -7- Always a threat, decent in the air. Wellens -8- Ran the show in first half, quieter second but my man of the match. Oakley -7- As above but not quite as good. Adams -7- Lively, always looked like he could create something when he had the ball. Fryatt -7- Decent game, good touch in first half. Howard -N/A Waghorn -7- Full of effort. Dyer and King -N/A
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Looking at your ratings, it seems it will be a while before Tunchev will be back in, whilst Neilson is very dodgy. Are his throws actually significantly longer than Oakley's?
billyfox1 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 7 Nielsen 6 Hobbs 7 Brown 8 Berner 7 N'Guessen 6 Oakley 7 Wellens 8 Adams 7 Fryatt 6 Howard N/A Subs:- Waghorn (6), Dyer (6), King (N/A)
Fox92 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 7 - Made some good saves. Still not sure though. Neilson 7 - Good in the air, good long throw. Looked solid. Hobbs 8 - Solid as usuall. Brown 9 - Could eat Henderson for breakfast Berner 7 - Another rock performance. Who's Joe Mattock? N'Guessan 5 - Very poor. Wellens 9 - Crunching tackles, got stuck in. Some lovely balls. Oakley 8 - Same as Wellens. Adams 7 - Did well in the first half, tracking back and playing well. Not to sure second half. Howard N/A Fryatt 7 Waghorn 7 Dyer 6 King N/A Just a quick add on to say the Wellens/Oakley combination is immense.
Wycombe Fox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Seems like Tunch has got a real battle on to get back into the team. Put Tunch up front against Barnsley to partner N'Guessan. Adams on the left, Gradel on the right, Oakley and Wellens in the middle. Defence as last night. Sorted.
leicesterfox86 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Put Tunch up front against Barnsley to partner N'Guessan.Adams on the left, Gradel on the right, Oakley and Wellens in the middle. Defence as last night. Sorted. 100% agree. It's good to have the options really. I am impressed with our squad and Pearson's tactics so far. Long may it continue! Last night was a very good result and one we wouldn't have got during our last Championship campaign.
Stuliasz Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 7 - Best performance to date. Handled everything very well, made a couple of decent saves and stood no chance with the goal. Neilson 6.5 - Better than Ipswich and flung himself in front of the ball on several occasions to weather the Blades second half onslaught. Berner 6.5 - This would be 8 for the very impressive first half, 5 for the second where he got skinned numerous times. Hobbs 7.5 - Excellent. The Sheff Utd strikers weren't in the game first half and both Hobbs and Brown dealt well with the second half pressure. Brown 8 - Even more excellent, seems to have taken a leader's role. N'Guessan 6 - I think N'Guessan does offer something that other traditional wingers don't in his strength. He does have the ability but doesn't always use it to his advantage. Adams 7 - This is a different Adams from last season. Deserved his chance and played well. Wellens 8.5 - Starting to love this guy. Always keeps a level head, very comfortable with the ball and very hard working off it. Oakley 8 - His link up play with Wellens was beautiful to watch first half. Howard N/A - Gutted to see him limp off. Hopefully we'll see him back soon. Fryatt 6 - Good reactions for the goal (I think he meant it) but offered little threat otherwise. Subs: Waghorn 5.5 - Was really excited after Swansea but he's produced little of note since and was bullied out of the game yesterday. Dyer 6 - Struggled to make an impact in the short time he was on. King N/A - Not on for long but didn't make any mark. Another enjoyable game of football. I think we will surprise a few teams this season when we do play slick football like that in the first half. At the moment we aren't capitalising on that period where teams are shellshocked by our quality and they are coming back at us second half and we are struggling to deal with that. It's a style that should hopefully pick us up enough points against the lesser sides in the league such as Barnsley on Saturday to keep us at the right end of the league.
Guest claude_leic Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Weale 7 - solid Neilson 6 - Bit shacky but decent. Berner 6.5 - Good defender but lacks pace, got skilled by Cotteril quite easily. Hobbs 8 - Quality. Brown 8 - Quality. N'Guessan 5 - Wasnt impressed, didnt really do anything lacked skill or delivery Adams 7 - Looks a good player now i think he should deffinetely start ever game. He can take players on and deliver the ball, our best winger this year. Wellens 7.5 - Agressive and good with the ball, played well. Oakley 7 - Good game played well with wellens. Waghorn 6.5 - Tried hard, has pace was unlcuky Fryatt 5.5 - not good enough at this level..
