cisono Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 As part of my developing medical corner series of polls, I was wondering if any of you ever develop a raised area in the skin just below your nose during/after a cold. The area then turns darker and forms something like a temporary patch of darker, thicker skin (a scab). I will share my interpretation of the findings with you (should you care to know). Thanks!
James. Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 Maybe if you stopped hoovering up so much cocaine you wouldn't have this problem.
AjcW Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 Dont suppose you have recently eaten out a hooker have you??
Fox92 Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 I get this problem, but they don't itch. Just pick them off. I am not sure whether it is the same thing as what you are on about though And, this should be a natural thing, as I have never taken any kind of drug in my life.
Ashley Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 It could be impatigo, i'm sure it starts from the nose. It spreads so dont pick them.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 My brother gets something similar, the skin underneath his nose flairs up and is quite painful. He went to the doctors and they told him it was quite rare but he needed to have antibiotics to get it to go away a couple of times.
lavrentis Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 I used to get peeling skin sometimes but nothing like scabs.
Gaffer Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 I've had sinus problems since i was very young. I've continually had a cold of some form in winter and severe hay fever in the summers. I had an operation last November finally, and I'm scheduled for another early next year for another. I get cuts under my nose, which don't scab (never been left long enough), but they don't itch. You are not alone
AoWW Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 Should this be merged with the 'skin update' thread?
MPH Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 its basically just an irritation from wiping your nose and blowing your nose. Some of my friends doctor friends reckon it can sometimes be effected by poor health /diet meaning the skin isnt getting the right nutrients it needs thus leaving it weak. People who are on alot of steroid cream or ointments can sometimes struggle with skin conditions and weakened skin too. Other doctor friends just reckon some people are more prone than others to having thin skin. Might just be somthing as simple as that. Yes I do lead a sad life but we discussed this very topic during lunch break one time.
cisono Posted 24 September 2009 Author Posted 24 September 2009 its basically just an irritation from wiping your nose and blowing your nose. That is what I thought (also, no itching so I wasn't expecting any other causes)... It has only ever happened if I had a cold or needed to blow my nose dozens of times in a day (of course, when you have a cold, your health is hardly optimal). I do think I have thin skin as well, and apparently this also explains why it is so soft (or so I am told). Yes I do lead a sad life but we discussed this very topic during lunch break one time. Not sad at all. Part of human curiosity. Which is exactly why I asked. And... you can only talk about football up to a point (or perhaps I am wrong on this particular point) . Thank you for your reply, MPH, and generally all those who dared to share their experiences Should this be merged with the 'skin update' thread? I don't think so. I am sure I can come up with some other weird medical condition/question within a few weeks
