Edgar Davids sez NO

I thought it said on SSN that his wages were the main stumbling block on us signing him...
"If we couldn't afford him we wouldn't be talking to him," Mandaric told Sky http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...642245,00.html#

"We are a very ambitious club but there is always room for improvement and our goal is to really give it a go and try to get up this year and players of that kind of profile will help us.

"We are in conversation with Edgar and his agent, and at this point that's all I can say. We are progressing and it is potentially exciting, of course, but we are not there yet.

"I think things will be taking place very shortly and not more than a couple of days."

Obviously, if we sign him it will be a massive 'coup'.

If it does come off, it can either go one way or the other.

-He will be a revelation, lead us to promotion, guide Andy King to the Ballon D'Or 2010 aswell as Milan making millions in shirt sales and attendances

OR

-He will be shit, everyone will point the finger at MM, players lose the plot and Andy King goes to another midlands club but Milan still makes millions from shirt sales and attendances.

Let's go for it!!

The wording as I see it from MM is that (a) his fitness is not an issue and (b) progress is being made with the agent with a view to agreeing terms.

Now you can read into this what you like imo, but it says 2 things to me...

1) how does MM know that Davids is fit enough - surely he would have to undergo some sort of medical to assess this?

2) negotiations have been ongoing for some time without anyone knowing about it and if it was now made public, surely this means it's very close to a done deal. You wouldn't want to make this negotiation public unless you were pretty confident of landing the player. It's huge. An absolutely massive deal if it's pulled off.

Another reason I see it as 'a done deal', is that MM has also said it'll be tied up within the next 2 days.

Now, you can take what MM says with a pinch of salt, but whichever way you look at it, it's sorted one way or the other by the weekend.

It's like the Hasselbaink situation, but major difference - it has the manager's (in this case, NPs) backing this time.

As crazy as it seems, I think we'll get him.

Edgar Davids :scarf:

And still plenty of members browsing this thread.

This is like the new Hasselbaink thread from 2 years ago.

Both old, both Dutch, both black. So many comparisons.

I'm going off the idea.

A Wellens, King and hopefully a back to his old self Clemence combination will do me

Davids.

Honestly i think this guy will be a different class, and would certainly cope with the awfulness of Championship football.

Look at that first half last night, Davids could have been the bit of class that made the difference.

In his TV interview, Pearson wondered aloud who had revealed that negotiations were ongoing.

That might suggest it was Davids' agent fishing for other interest. If a Premiership club were interested (sounds like Pompey aren't), surely he'd end up going there....

Come on! Be serious!

The signing of this guy would make the championship tremble in panic and disbelief.

It would be MASSIVE. HUGE. IMPACT.

There's never a dull moment supporting LCFC - love it!!! :scarf:

Bloody hell, this is a silly idea.

Edgar Davids feeding Steve lol

I've just realised fu ck all matters in my life.

EDGAR BASTARD DAVIDS.

I also realise I'll look back on this and think "willy puller" once his signing actually makes me buy a shirt, a pair of goggles for QPR away and he leaves after one 20 minute cameo for backing his Lambo into Wayne Browns Zafira and we'll be back to being the laughing stock of football after 3 years out.

CANNOT WAIT.

!

This is simply uncomprehendable!! I think his first act should be to donate his 1st 5 mins wages to fixing the scoreboard! haha tbh i couldnt care less if we didnt have a scoreboard if davids was playing for us!!

He must be getting a FAT bonus if we go up.

Who gives a shit now, he isn't on anymore than are highest paid players :D

Good news all round!!!!!!!!!

I bet it's like only a grand less or something :P.

But still EDGAR fooking DAVIDS COMING TO CITY. lol

Let's face it, the standard of opposition at the walkers so far has been nothing short of terrible. Davids could earn his wage with one pass of the ball in this league.

Im an emotional wreck right now.

My facebook consists of Edgar Davids only.

About 8 people liked my last Davids' status.

If he rejects us, he would cause me endless pain.

EDIT: I am joking lol apart from the facebook bit!

I wouldn't even go that far for Robert Earnshaw.
