Wycombe Fox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 For so long I've wondered why we've played so much of our football in second gear but, at long last, we hit full throttle and left a very good side in our wake and surely thrilled every City fan privileged to watch. Fryatt took his two matchwinning goals with panache - and that first one was another for the highlights of the season video - but what pleased me so much was that we matched them for first time passing in the opening 45 minutes and finally played them to a virtual standstill by the end. Cos, make no mistake, QPR were frustrated and devoid of ideas by the final whistle because, not only did we scrap for every ball but we hit them hard and fast on the counter. Emotionally I'd be inclined to give every team member a full 10 marks because this was the best 90 minutes I've seen from us in many a day considering the standard of QPR. But I'll try to be objective in the player ratings. And Pearson can take a deep bow because he came close to delivering a tactical masterclass by not only countering strengths but finding weaknesses and using the players to exploit them. How refreshing it was to see us use some real pace from the off and how unfortunate that the efforvescent Waghorn was denied a splendid opening goal by such a hairline decision. But for the first time he was able to demonstrate the considerable attributes he's brought to our team - not least the Cottee-like willingness to try to drive himself to get on the end of things in the six yard box and how close he was to putting the ball in the net for a second time in a manner so similar to his first. In midfield Wellens, King and Oakley demonstrated they could stand against the best in second tier football and I hope King silenced the doubters who declared he was "a division too high" and "couldn't hack in at so elevated a level once and for all. Everyone was put to the test tonight and the final count for City was a team full of competitors and a team full of winners - but winners who showed they could play a bit. We didn't foul, we didn't cheat, we didn't niggle on the side and we didn't waste time other than forgiveably right near the end. Instead we stood tall and more than matched arguably the most talented attacking team outside the Premiership skill for skill. I loved every minute.
StanSP Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Can't help laughing at Kingy in this picture Body-popping and playing football at the same time - a skill Davids could never master
moseeds Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I'm serious. It's not often opposition have something nice to say about us. I think QPR are going to be my "second team". I also had the best lamb wrap in london ever on Uxbridge road at King Solomons cafe. Tasty result. Delicious wrap. http://www.qprdot.org/viewtopic.php?t=41266
lou Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Body-popping and playing football at the same time - a skill Davids could never master Theres a better pic of the crowd celebrating and one fan (who was stood next to us but you cant see us ffs!) giving the camara the middle finger Well done OS for spotting that!

MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I was ready to burst into tears at the final whistle!!Even QPR fans got the love - fair play to them http://qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi?b...mp;page=1#38742 I love what the Guardian wrote about our away support: England manager Fabio Capello took in a rare Championship match and was treated to a highly entertaining encounter, settled by two goals from Matty Fryatt, with a little help from a vociferous away end. Leicester's travelling support contributed to a season-high attendance here (at Loftus Road) and they may also claim an assist on the goal. Radek Cerny in the QPR goal may have been a little unsettled by the away end's less than subtle taunting at his goal-kicks and in the 64th minute he inexplicably played one directly to Fryatt, who advanced into the area before shooting across the hapless Czech.
Wycombe Fox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Two things of particular brilliance that nobody's mentioned yet. Firstly, check out the view of Fryatt's second goal from behind. He's read it so well to be starting his run towards their right-back whilst the right-back's still flat-footed. Secondly. NP's masterstroke for bringing on McGivern for the last five minutes. The lad had a torrid time on Monday so to be given a short run-out last night was, in my opinion, a superb example of man-management. Still buzzing...
lavrentis Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Why people vote lose? We can beat anyone in this league.2-1 win for me. Oh yes. Fantastic win. Well done to the lads. Premier League here we come.
sbfox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Everything that I wanted to say has already been said, but I'd just like to point out how good Kingy was tonight (their goal aside...). Along with Wellens, I thought he commanded the midfield and his little one touch passes were a delight. Oh and can someone tech minded PLEASE tell davieg how to create a torrent and upload it, I'd love to see last night's match from a tv perspective, hear how loud we really were (was hard to tell with that roof above us) and most importantly, see if I made it on to tv!!!
Hawkers Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 This.We played some brilliant football tonight. Watching City has rarely been this satisfying. Good atmosphere too, livened up a lot more in the second half. We were on Row D and stood for the whole game, and for those who wanted to sit there were five or six rows in the block behind the goal for people to do that. Everyone's a winner. Also, was anyone else near the dude with the Rasta flag? He was right at the front just to the left of the goal, although he kept popping off to the concourse seemingly every few minutes. He is my new hero. I've never seen "Ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh TWAT, YOU'RE SHIT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" have such an effect on a goalkeeper as it did on Cerny either! Thought Fryatt had dribbled it too close to him but he tucked it away. Brilliant. haha yeah what a legend.... he was right behind me what a feckin night keeper keeper give us a wave
Lillehamring Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Shame about the awful grammar ouch. criminal. although technically it was poor spelling, not grammar... but i have no excuses. other than the martini i'd just had.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 This to me was the best team performance of the season, from the Foxes. After settling down ,we displayed the rugged and skilfull brand of football ,that a quality side has. If we perform like this for the remainder of the season, then the play offs will become a reality. Matty Fryatt's goals were top draw material, and his reading of the goalkeepers error, was wonderfull to behold. Once on that ball he showed the cool clinical quality that has been missing in his game this season. Very well done lads.
Ozwin Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I think the kop can learn from the fans last night on how to abuse a goalkeeper.
Tommeh Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Our end was brilliant and also looks fantastic on TV. Exactly what away support is about brilliant.
Fosse Boy Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Our end was brilliant and also looks fantastic on TV. Exactly what away support is about brilliant. The lower tier factor definitely helped.
Tommeh Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 The lower tier factor definitely helped. Oh absoluetly, wouldn't have been the same in the upper, no way. Keep watching the goal back and last 20 mins with LD3 in the yellow tshirt and then spotting myself easily, including the mayhem after the goal. Oh and clapping Fryatt off.
lildave3 Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 DavieG! What are you doing man! Literally 2 seconds before the start of your sig, I appear! Can't believe you've cut me out
davieG Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 DavieG! What are you doing man! Literally 2 seconds before the start of your sig, I appear! Can't believe you've cut me out I only had eyes for Waghorn
Fosse Boy Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 They attacked. You useless bastards then decided to let 'em win. Thanks. I think it was quite obvious that at half-time they worked out how to get Taarabt out of the game and that was it. No Taarabt, no QPR, the team might as well have gone home at half-time. There was only one team who created chances second-half and that was Leicester. Magilton had no idea and the better manager won the game for his side. :D
lildave3 Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I only had eyes for Waghorn Not good enough! Get me in!
thybluefox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 This comment on the QPR forum makes me fooking PROUD! Sadly last night, as a team, management down, we failed that test as Leicester imposed themselves on us and simply shut us down. Leicester were extremely good last night and I will be surprised if I see a better away team performance at Loftus Road this season, as last night, Leicester as a unit were pretty incredible to watch. I love you Leicester, I really do.
BoneDog Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Wish I tried to get a ticket for last night now. Watching it on Sky was good enough though. The match just felt special right from the first few minutes. I normally have a fair few things to moan about while watching us play but last night I only grumbled 3 or 4 times and that was just for giving the ball away from a couple of corners and throw-ins, nothing major . Always felt confident of us creating another chance every few minutes. What a game it was and I hope it's a sign of things to come cos if we keep this up then we could be challenging for promotion all the way. I've looked everywhere for a torrent of the match but found nothing.
C-man Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 First real chance to post anything relating to the game, having spent moments here and there reading the thread over the course of the day. What a night. Might sound a bit gay but I felt so emotional after the game simply because of the effort shown by every single member of LCFC last night, including the fans. From the first second we harried, pressed and pounded Q.P.R. into surrendering the ball more times than they probably have done all season, and that can't be attributed to any single player, but to the whole team and their management. Waghorn and Fryatt ran themselves into the ground and led from the front. Oakley and Wellens won so much ball in midfield and King's careful, calm and considered approach complimented them so well. N'Guessan may have been a surprise inclusion, but yet again NP delivers a truly sensational (yet bizzare) team selection, and although Gallagher may have considered himself unlucky to be named on the bench, he could have no complaints as Dany ran Ramage ragged and delivered several beautiful crosses that may have resulted in 3 City goals rather than just the one. Brown was a wall and despite pre-match anxieties about him facing Simpson and co. he never once let us down. Same goes for Hobbs. Neilson is a changed man for what I can see. Two top performances in the space of 4 days justifying his recall to the side with some conviction. And Bruno Berner is just a hero. Must be the Chrissy P effect. Talking about Chrissy P, his penalty at the end of the warm-up and the resulting celebration was iconic. Words cannot describe what a legend he is in my eyes. Anyway, Chris Weale. Stupendous double save where he got injured and he showed courage to carry on. Brilliant signing, and is starting to become my favourite City goalkeeper in my life time. Obviously Q.P.R. are probably one of the top 3 passing sides outside of the Premiership (West Brom, Newcastle?) but at times we made them look very ordinary, and thoroughly throroughly deserved our win. Fair play to Magilton for recognizing that and some of the comments from Rangers fans is a joy to behold. Thank you City, you were worth every penny and more last night. Very, very proud.

James. Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Talking about Chrissy P, his penalty at the end of the warm-up and the resulting celebration was iconic. Words cannot describe what a legend he is in my eyes. Great post. Had to pick up on this bit of it as I watching the warm up quite carefully and I got the impression that there's such a fantastic spirit and togetherness in the squad - players, coaches, the lot. It's great to have characters back, people like Powell, Brown and Wellens who make an impression on you when you see them. Players that want to give everything. That is as important as ability in my eyes - fantastic stuff.
