Celebrate or not?

  1. 1. England win a penalty last minute of the 2010 World Cup, Gerrard dives for it, Lampard slots it in, we win, do you celebrate like a madhead. Yes or no?

I'm not going to lie about this.

I would jump up and down like a Springer Spaniel on speed, whip off my shirt, slide on my knees in the middle of the pub and jump in the nearest water fountain to celebrate. Whether we win the World Cup by playing someone off the park or by a dicky pen, the record books would still read the same.

So yes, I would celebrate. Wildly.

In my head chaged it to a Cahill dive and Kewell poledriver in the top left corner............then i creamed my strides and voted yes while cleaning up the mess.

No.

Couldn't celebrate a world cup victory by cheating.

It's basically like an athlete taking drugs, winning gold and celebrating that. But they cheated!

No because

1. fooking hate cheating

2. Not mad on England anyway, only Leicester.

I pity any Englishman that would fail to get joy out of England winning a WC, regardless of how much they like football, regardless of the circumstances. Amongst my housemates there's a gay man, three women one of who is Welsh and a man with no interest in football, and I know that even THEY'D go nuts.

I like how you mention the 'gay man' as if that instantly means he dislikes football lol

lol at the people who don't 'support' England.

Come South Africa they'll be here wanting England too win.

:nono: you are the auld enemy meaning i'll watch the world cup to prevent the FWS but i'll cheer for everyone who beats england, the french and the dutch. (bit of cheating in our final group match - fair goal disallowed for scotland, several blatent penalties for scotland ignored and they win 1-0. if the referee had a clue about the rules we'd have been in the play-offs, qualified and SA 2010 would have interested me from a personal point of view)

He means the actual English. Not us.

I'd be unsure what to do. If I celebrate JME won't like me and if I don't celebrate Alb, Tilley and Sam won't like me anymore.

It's a tough one.

:D

Choose wisely Simon.

It's ok Simon, I understand you're a patriotic, corporate-Wembley-loving England fan, I'd understand you celebrating.. :P;)

The response would have been the same if the question was "England win a penalty last minute of the 2010 World Cup, Lampard slots it in, we win, do you celebrate like a madhead. Yes or no?" - No.

I'd be happy we've won the World Cup, even if Gerrard dived, but I wouldn't celebrate cos I don't really like international football though lol

Probably jump on the bandwagon next summer though

Of course.

In a way, winning by cheating would be very sweet, if just for the added look of frustration and anger on the opponents' faces.

Especially if it was against Portugal, watching Ronaldo in tears complaining about cheating would be the happiest moment in my otherwise dull uninspiring life.

So you're more bothered about the opposition looking upset after your country's won the World Cup rather than celebrating it yourself then? Surely winning fairly against a cheating twat like Ronaldo would be sweeter than winning it by stooping to his level?

Well yeah, that's why I sit in L1. So I can get a very good view of the pissed off away fans after we've scored.

All seems a bit schadenfreude to me...

I would of course celebrate like mad, but after the fact, when the world's scorn pored upon us like never before, and FIFA banned Gerrard for life, England were suspended from international competition, and English clubs from Europe - then, then I might be alittle less happy. Let's not forget folks - we are not France. No body likes us. No one.

How AFiE is still trying to justify his reasoning for not celebrating this scenario is lol.

Read the posts properly chap.

I was merely questioning why NSLL thought it would be sweeter to win by cheating than to win fairly.

Posted

Well the last time we won a World cup it wasn't exactly the 'honest' way was it?

I think if that scenario did occur i'd do a Jean-christophe Novelli and ditch my country in disgust and go and support Ireland

I'd celebrate it like mad. I mean come on if this was the other way round the welsh, scotish, irish etc would love us to loose.
