Corky Posted 28 December 2009 Posted 28 December 2009 There's nothing to admit Plus, why are there rules as to how long they need to have played for us? Particularly if we are struggling to find decent midfielders..... Junior Lewis? Lee Marshall could play midfield I recall, pretty versatile
stez Posted 28 December 2009 Posted 28 December 2009 Midfielders ??That Jason Jarrett must be knocking on the door. Seriously the central midfielders i can think that had any period of time here Izzet, Savage, Lennon, Freund, Mckinlay, Jones, Williams, Gudjohnsson, Nalis, Clemence, Weso, Oakley, Sure ive forgot a fair few mckinlay's a good shout if fez has vetoed lennon.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 December 2009 Author Posted 28 December 2009 Was a huge fan of McKinlay. He might have to go in.

Weren't ought special but got stuck in and knocked it around nice. Gotta be one of the unsung heroes of that promotion season. I did this elsewhere on another forum....I'd be tempted now to stick McKinlay in for Joey as he only had a three month good spell here. INFACT EDIT again: Rowett for Rb. GK Tim Flowers RB Never had a good right-back in ten years. Suppose we'd go for Richard Stearman for the first six months of his career. LB Callum Davidson CB Patrick Kisnorbo (as much as he's average, he have some great service and he actually cared IMO) CB Matt Elliott CM Muzzy Izzet CM Neil Lennon CM Joey Gudjonsson CF Matty Fryatt CF Paul Dickov (first spell ONLY) CF Les Ferdinand

lcfc_forever Posted 28 December 2009 Posted 28 December 2009 Great idea for a thread. If you're basing it on the best players to play for City in the noughties, regardless of time spent at the club, I'd go with 3-5-2 which served us so well during our golden period in the late 90s, into the early noughties: Flowers Savage Elliott © Taggart Kamark Guppy Lennon Izzet Zagorakis Heskey Collymore Subs: Walker Thatcher Rowett Freund Ferdinand If we're saying at least 2 seasons at the club in the noughties (which rules out most of the current team): Walker Rowett Taggart Elliott © Davidson Savage Gudjonnson Izzet Stewart Dickov Hume Subs: Stearman Dabizas McKinlay Scowcroft Fryatt EDIT: Just saw Fez's post - wouldn't make any changes except for the subs, removing Stearman for Hobbs, and perhaps Dabizas to make way for Tunchev.

MPH Posted 29 December 2009 Posted 29 December 2009 Flowers Kaamark Elliott Taggart Thatcher Izzet Savage Lennon Guppy Heskey Fryatt thats the best midfield i have ever seen in my 30 years of following the city. EDIT: Subs: Walker Tunchev Chris Powell!!!! Collymore Dickov ( the one of a few seasons ago. <_< )

Captain... Posted 29 December 2009 Posted 29 December 2009 Taggart, Elliott, Izzet, Guppy, Savage, are a given Probably Sinclair and Davidson at FB and Flowers in goal Up front is tricky probably Matty Fryatt. Heskey, Cottee, Collymore, and Les were not here long enough to count them. Maybe with Hume, Dickov or Deane. Final midfield slot to Lilian Nalis just ahead of Oakley and Joey. We've had a lot of crap players this decade every time I look back at the stats to refresh my memory I get depressed. My team: Flowers Sinclair Taggart Elliott Davidson Izzett Savage Guppy Fryatt Deane Dickov If I could pick anyone who played between 2000-2009 it would basically be the 1999-2000 team. Editted to play 4-3-3 big man Deane with Dickov and fryatt feeding off him.
Bryn Posted 29 December 2009 Posted 29 December 2009 Levein Kelly Pearson Taggart WorthingtonHolloway Bassett Megson Allen AdamsTaylor Young Craig having to play sticks, bless him.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 December 2009 Posted 29 December 2009 Walker Sinclair Taggart Elliott Thatcher (If only we had him for more than a year.) Guppy Izzet Lennon Savage Dickov Heskey The nearly men: Heath, Flowers, Impey, Gudjonson, Cottee, Deane, Ferdinand, Fulop We reall have struggled in terms of good wingers! Many people put Dyer and although he is OK that was at mainly League 1 level.
