Signed just under a year and a half ago and was branded as a promising defender. When he first started playing, I wasn't convinced with him at all, and was constantly harping on about him being not good enough, and now I'm gladly eating my words. But he's had long enough to settle in now and his promise is starting to shine through. He's been so consistent for us in every game he's played in this season, gives everything he's got and never shies away from anything.

Here's hoping his progression continues and his good performances continue.

When we signed him, I asked a couple of Cambridge fans their opinions. They boldly said future Premiership, possibly England material. He will be the part for the first criteria. There's a few raw parts there and the occasional attitude shown. However, he's going to be a very good player. He'll be better than Hobbs. Why? His confidence is never dented and he learns more off his mistakes.

Agree. I believe he will be better than Hobbs as well.

I'm surprised how easily he has found the jumpfrom non-league football to the Championship and adapted very well. Very pleased for the lad. And we would have shared birthday if his mum had pushed him out a day earlier.

I think he's quality and along with Berner (before injury) has been our most consistent player at RB and CB.

I've no idea how much he cost but doubt it was all that much, an absolute cracking find.

I think hes the best CB we have, and i know he plays RB as hes the best option for that position but i would like to see him play CB. I have felt sorry for him over the past year as he always seems to get dropped through no fault of his own, but i think he has proved his worth now and wont be dropped if he keeps playing as he is

I think he's been our best player of late from what I've seen, massively encouraging. I think he'd be playing at centre back every match at the moment if it weren't for our dodgy right back position, but he's doing a tidy job there for now.

He'll be here for many years to come as a first team regular if he keeps this up.

Couldn't agree more.

For me, he should be at right-back permanently as he has shown Neilson up badly every time he has replaced the Scot. Morrison has a lot of promise and we always look far more solid with Morrison in defence.

He's been fantastic for the last few weeks but I'm not going to go overboard until he's had at least three months of playing well at this level. I think it's brilliant to have both Hobbs and Morrison at the back and playing so consistently well at such a young age.

If he continues playing as well as he has recently, then it puts us in a great position defensively. If they both carry on like this, we could make a lot of money even if we don't get promoted. The same goes for King and Fryatt. Much better than being overloaded with more Browns, Oakleys and Howards with no sell-on value. Said this after the Ipswich game and feel a bit more confident about saying it again now.

Incredibly glad that Pearson has recognised Morrison's performances have merited a place in the team ahead of someone on bigger wages.

Been a good acquisition, certainly impressed me since he joined.

Deserves his place in the team and looks set to keep it for a while yet.

He's cracking.

Certainly better than Alex Bruce!

I hope he can pass on a few tricks of his 40 yard diagonals to Hobbs - Morrison's great at the but Hobbs seems to shank every one..

Its amazing what a few games in the side can do to someone, used to think Morrison gave it away so cheaply. Now he's playing balls passed defenders causing problems, the lad can head it, put in a decent tackle and isn't slow. Oh and he can get a few cheeky goals. I agree with Fez, him and Hobbs could be so important to us and lets not forget how old they are. They are surely only going to get better.

If we can hold onto Morrison and Hobbs, we'll have two VERY solid and excellent players for the future that will be the crux of a solid defense for us for years to come.

MotM for me yesterday, dealt with everything that came at him and it got quite funny everytime the winger or left back tried to take him on and he just read it and stuck his foot out like he saw it coming a week ago.

Dangerous in the other box too from set pieces, quality little signing.

Definitely in agreement with everything said in here.

Just wanted to pick up on something Bert said about 'settling in'.

Morrison has been with us for a season and a half now and I'm led to believe that he made his 50th appearance for the club yesterday. I think Pearson's done a wonderful job bringing him on - slowly at times but never been scared to put his trust in him. For example in the game yesterday he waited until the 85th minute to give him any sort of protection in front of him as he was more than confident in Morrison's ability to deal with both Guthrie and Van Aanholt. NP was also happy to throw MM in at the deep end at Middlesbrough when he had Adam Johnson to contend with. He had to switch wings that night because he got nothing out of Morro.

:appl:

If the fans can show as much patience for other young players that may be introduced as they have done for Michael Morrison, then I'm sure their confidence would rocket.

Legend in the making.

Together with Weale, Hobbs, King and Fryatt, we have quite a young and promising spine to our team.

Coudln't agree any more - the player has come on a great deal since he signed for us. He was a bit shaky at the start of the game against Newcastle but improved very quickly and had an awesome game (and along with Berner, made the defence much stronger IMO).

Having said that, I still believe he is better at centre back than he is at right back - the game against Sheff Utd especially.

Just hope he keeps up the good form!

Liked him ever since his first game (was it MK Dons? Think so).

Although he is playing out of position at the minute, he is always reliable and consistant.

Together, Morrison and Hobbs are the future of our defence :D

Arguably Pearsons best signing, picked up from Cambridge for a nominal fee, absolute bargain.

Is that the cash register I see reflected in MMs eyes?

Good player and getting better, like him a lot!...

The only fly in the ointment that I can see is that, like Hobbs, he prefers to play on the right of the central pairing, making playing the pair of them a bit awkward, despite them both being way more accomplished than Brown.

Getting them settled as a central pairing should be a priority and it is the next big step up for both of them, come on Nigel, make it happen!
