lou Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 About being married????I thought as much!! Only kiddin', are you me and Lisa meeting at the same place pre match for you know what??? *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* Yep deffo .... well were all married so lets go!
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 Pearson said we didn't sign the 2nd loan deal on deadline day due to finances,So i don't think we will sign anyone who would be considered a "big name" it would more than likley be a Championship/League1 benchwarmer ala Alex Bruce Might see more of Nobby in midfield pushing Gally up front. Not a Howard fan but he's done alright when he has be given a chance Kermo is looking more and more like a player who we will never really see, even when we have doesn't look anything that special Waggy can get us goals and showing against Blackpool he can play a decent ball to set up goals Who knows what Nigel has got planned but we wasn't scoring before so things can only look up! Fryatt back to score against Forest at Wembley Keep the faith
marbelladave Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I am surprised that you are all missing the obvious! Clearly much too distracted by the upcoming 'threesome'! No, the answer is, our second top goalscorer, Danny N'Guessan...
sbfox Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 Kermo is looking more and more like a player who we will never really see, even when we have doesn't look anything that special I honestly don't know where this comes from... Until he was injured, he started the last few games and actually looked to be coming IN to the team. Sure, he hasn't scored yet, but he's looked good with some nice touches and some good headers. Won't be long til he's scoring more often
flanimal Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I am surprised that you are all missing the obvious! Clearly much too distracted by the upcoming 'threesome'!No, the answer is, our second top goalscorer, Danny N'Guessan... That is probably the way. He's got six goals without really playing that much. Surely he's now #1. We don't an emergency striker. Gallagher, Waghorn, N'Guessan are all suitable options. I'm not sure about Howard. Kermorgant hasn't really had a run, and I'm pretty sure he's not a player who scores shitloads of goals at any team he was at. Gallagher has been playing as a midfielder most of the time, so it's hard to evaluate his abilities. I think we could solve goalscoring issues by simply putting in better free-kicks, so players who arn't strikers or attacking midfield could score.
davieG Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 We haven't got 4 players that are suitable or capable to play in a midfield 442. We have got the players to go 433 3 from 4 across midfield = King, Oakley, Gallagher and Wellens 3 from 4 up front = Waghorn, Kermogant, Dyer and N'Guessan
Joe. Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 It's pointless bringing in another striker on loan if we can't get somebody who's better than what we already have. And right now it seems there are few decent options available to bring in, so we'll just have to make do with what we have. Five strikers is hardly a disastrous situation, and it's not like any of them have had a massive opportunity at an extended run in the side in their avoured positions so far this season.
mmarkie Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I want us to get someone in, if we do, I bet it is someone like Jon Parkin or Stern John
Guest ttfn Posted 11 February 2010 Posted 11 February 2010 I can't believe anybody has suggested Freddie Sears (who, according to Wiki) has gone to Coventry. Sears hasn't scored in his last 42 games. What we need now is somebody who can deliver, not some promising youngster, a la Waghorn, who looks like he'll be good some day but for the time being is an average to decent Championship player. Fact is, these loan players won't be ours in 4 months so who wants promise? What we need is quality. This is hard to find on the loan market, but would it be totally outrageous to suggest we could get in somebody with a decent track record of scoring goals in a middling Prem side, in need of a game. Somebody like Erik Nevland at Fulham or even Benjani? Perhaps both are out of reach but youth is probably not the way forward now.

You mean the guy who until very recently played for Man City? Someone of his stature/wages/quality (debatable), playing for someone like us? No.... Can't see it myself. And yes, it IS outrageous to suggest that.
ozleicester Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 This is the opportunity Gallagher has been waiting for, NP just neds to give him 90 mins up front and some support around him and he will score. He is clearly a natural striker, quality on the ball and, given the freedom... will find scoring positions. Still think we will lose Matty during the summer anyway (unless we get promoted) and this will give the coaches a chance to look at next years side and what will be required. Given our poor scoring record this may well be a very positive forced change. cmonn yooo bloooosssss
Mort Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 I dont see how we're going to get anyone in whose any better than what we've already got, Waghorn, N'Guessan and Gally seem more than adequate... there's no point bringing in another player just for the sake of it.
Chrysalis Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Out of the names mentioned if a loan striker isnt brought in I would go 4-3-3 with these 3 up front. kermo gallagher waghorn I just hope we dont start howard again.
davieG Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 From the Merc Leicester City chief executive Lee Hoos has said the club will bring in a replacement striker for injured top-scorer Matty Fryatt only if it is at the right price. Fryatt could be struggling to return this season after undergoing surgery for a double fracture of the jaw on Tuesday. Manager Nigel Pearson would like to bring in another striker on loan to cover for 12-goal Fryatt, but admits that would depend entirely on finances. Even loan signings require funding and Hoos has warned City will not sign a striker simply for the sake of it. "You have to look at where your money is being spent," said Hoos. It makes no sense to have too many players for one position, if you are then not going to be able to utilise them. That utilisation factor has to come into play. "Unfortunately, we have the situation with Matty from Tuesday night and we will have to monitor that. "But it is always a case of getting the right player in on the right deal. "It would have to be a cost effective option for us. What we don't want to do is bring in players for the sake of it. We have brought in some good players during the last transfer window, and during the summer. We do have a fairly deep squad and we have some talent on the bench. "We have been able to bring on players like Nobby Solano and Lloyd Dyer. "They are players who can make a real impact in games and hopefully that can get us over the line." Pearson said if they could not bring in a new striker, Fryatt's absence would provide a good opportunity for one of the other strikers within the squad. "Getting in a replacement will depend very much on whether we can," he said. "We will have to wait and see. It is whether we can afford to do anything and we will have to see how things progress over the next week or two. "Somebody's bad luck is always someone else's opportunity, but there is no getting away from the fact he will be a big loss for us. But we have to deal with it, as simple as that." Fryatt has been released from hospital after surgery and Pearson is not ruling out seeing the 23-year-old in action again before the end of the season. "He was having a good season but, fingers crossed, he will have a role to play before the end of the campaign," added Pearson. "It is now about the reality that he will be missing for eight weeks or so and we have to make sure in the mean time we keep ourselves in a decent position. "Hopefully, he can have an impact before the end of the season. "They did the operation on Wednesday and they X-rayed it again yesterday to see whether the second fracture needed further work. "I think they have just decided to wait because everything they have done so far seems satisfactory. "They have plated it but also put some sort of a brace in there. They seem to be pretty pleased with how it has gone. "He will be doing nothing for the next four weeks and he could be out for around eight weeks. It could be a little more or a little less. "The next few weeks are critical to how long he will be out." City were yesterday linked with a move for Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson, with whom they were linked last summer.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 What type of move would it be for Jackson? Presume we'd be after more than just a loan in his case, don't know the ins and outs of this emergency loan system though.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 take him on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move in he summer would be my guess Ah right, was just unsure whether that could be done outside of the January window. I don't know much about this business tbh.
StanSP Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Simeon Jackson would be a relatively expensive option in my opinion. I saw stick with the current strikers (I know they aren't scoring much at the moment) but you have to give them a chance. A front three of Waghorn, Gallagher and N'Guessan for the next couple of games would do for now.
ACF Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Stick with the ones we've got. If we fail miserably, its time to loan. (:

That whole article offends me. Our club is a perfect example of how NOT to run a cost effective business! How Hoos has the audacity to patronise us with his business plan is beyond me
Guest DavidJCW Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Personally I agree that we should stick with what we have... there may have been a bit of complacency from the others up front as they thought that Fryatt would end up getting the goals so all they needed to do was supply him and put the effort in to make chances and hopefully nick a goal or two here and there... Now though, this is their chance to really shine so it'll be interesting to see if any of them come up with the goods and have a good stretch.

Furthermore, Benjani's gone to Sunderland, so that's a resounding no.
maddog Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Simeon Jackson may be realistic with Gillingham really struggling now. Although Gillingham have only scored 1 goal in their last 6 games so their hardly banging them in, so Jackson may not score any in the Championship. Although i suppose if he's playing in a better team, are we better than Gillingham he may score despite the step up a divison. Jackson has scored 11 League goals though plus some more in cup competitions this season, but 5 of them were penalties.
