Unit Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I don't reckon he'd have got in the squad anyway but yeah, breaking news on sky, he's made himself unavailable.
Corky Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Not surprised really. Doubt he'll play for England again now, even if he makes himself available in the future. So, Baines to play? Warnock?
Samilktray Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 If I was in his position I'd find it difficult being around John Terry. I'm sure some people will come in here saying hes overreacted etc, but he hasnt.
maddog Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Bit unfair that because John Terry is a total scumbag twat, and has an affair with Bridges ex wife that Bridge should then miss out on the World Cup and JT should play. Would have preferred JT to have made himself unavaliable and Bridge to play.

I agree, would be so awkward and can't really blame him for it. Many people would be the same in any job but some reason people expect him to put it to one side, yet so much would be made of it if he did play alongside Terry it would only effect his performance any I bet. John Terry, warra Coont.
Brainy Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Can't believe people are saying how JT should make himself unavailable. Sounds like typical negative England fans.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Fair play to the bloke, he knows he cannot put it aside, and doesn't want to let anoyone done. Good call. Shame for him personally, as I think Capello had made it clear he was second choice left back and was going to be in the squad for the Egypt friendly at least.

Bridge obviously can't put the differences aside and believes not being there will benefit the team.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 If his decision is because of John Terry then where is the 'professionalism', i'm disapointed!!!
AmericanScott Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 JT lost his captains armband. Capello asked Bridge if he could have a quick look under his bed for it.
hairy Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I wonder if it has been suggested to him this might be for the best to stop further reference come the world cup Playing for England in a WC would the height of any player's career and to give it up over an ex doesn't make 100% sense to me

Complete overreaction. I cant play with another player... boo hoo. Its england you **** get over it. Tosser.

Jesus.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Has it not occured to you that he might have still been in love with the girl and hoping to reconcile? Jesus. What has that got to do with playing for England in the world cup, he can still reconcile with her. Them reconciling has nothing to do with football or JT(there affair is finished). Whatever bad feelings he may have with JT, must be put aside, there professional footballers for god sake, being asked to represent there country!!!
James. Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 On the contrary I actually think it's a sign of his professionalism by withdrawing.
Zingari Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 On the contrary I actually think it's a sign of his professionalism by withdrawing. maybe that's why she turned to John Terry
Podge Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 To be fair to him he is probably third choice left back at the minute, even with Cole out. I'd still have Baines and Warnock ahead of him, his form has been piss poor this season so maybe he is just pre-empting still being left out and trying to save face?
Guest Bilo Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Fair play to the bloke, he knows he cannot put it aside, and doesn't want to let anoyone done. Good call. Shame for him personally, as I think Capello had made it clear he was second choice left back and was going to be in the squad for the Egypt friendly at least. A professional attitude but a shame for his career, especially if England do well in South Africa as it means he'll never experience a successful international tournament. Mixed feelings about it for England as I rate him our second best left-back after Cashley and am not sure about Baines, but if he knows he can't put his understandable feelings towards Terry aside then it may be best he sit out. Looks like bad guys do win sometimes, as long as they happen to be less dispensable.

The point is he feels let down and humiliated by someone he considered a friend, and feels he cannot put that aside and play to his ability in the same team as that former friend. His call, we should respect his honesty on the subject.
Zingari Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Bridge should think about it more seriously , he'd get to shag loads more as an international than just a club player he might even get the chance to peg Toni

Taking a few games out, making the world cup squad and behind the scenes making the peace with JT through the world cup and mugging him off by shagging Cheryl Cole and becoming first choice left back.

I have a theory that she'll be backing onto Simon Cowell's gigglestick by the time of the World Cup. Or in a lesbian relationship with one or more of Girls Aloud. Obviously I get nicer thoughts surrounding the latter, the first one gives me another ten minutes usually.
The Blur Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I would prefer if the players in the squad is focused and ready for the job If Bridge can't do this, it is a shame but at least he is honsent enough to admit this. Capello should see this as an oppurinity rather than a loss
