hairy Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Has it not occured to you that he might have still been in love with the girl and hoping to reconcile? Jesus. If you are right then he is a fool. She dumped him when he moved North, she takes maintenance payments off him and then humiliated him by shagging JT, who can only be described as a slag at best, infront of the whole nation and then with JT's demotion the whole footballing world and then took a large amount of silence money. Plus she's French.
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Aston Villa defenders Stephen Warnock and Nicky Shorey, Everton's Leighton Baines and Manchester City's Joleon Lescott are all possible replacements. Hands down the most depressing sentance in football journalism history.
martyn Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Warnock and Baines have both been better than Bridge imo. although yes, the mere mention of Lescott and Shorey is enough to cause palpitations. Bridge has been pretty poor for a few years now, no idea why he was automatically regarded as the back up left back.
MPH Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 What has that got to do with playing for England in the world cup, he can still reconcile with her. Them reconciling has nothing to do with football or JT(there affair is finished). Whatever bad feelings he may have with JT, must be put aside, there professional footballers for god sake, being asked to represent there country!!! its amusing to me you mention professionalism and John Terry in two consecutive threads. It isn't just about Bridge being professional... He is having his life thrown around in the newspapers. for things he is not responsible for. Its easy for someone to sit here and dictate how bridge should behave but until you are in the same position as he is, with the same media intrusion, i don't see how you can question his actions with such conviction.....
purpleronnie Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I understand the arguement 'we don't really understand' but he's a professional footballer their whole lives are printed in the papers throughout their career. I just find it odd that if he genuinely thought he could play for england in the world cup he would rule himself out because of tensions in the dressing room. There are tensions in every dressing room, splits and cliques. Yes he would have to play along side Terry but they dont have to walk round the pitch arm in arm, for me given the opportunity to play for my national team in a WC would override feeling uncomfortable in a dressing room.

I can't imagine what it's like for Bridge, the media intrusion into his life must have been tough, but I can't see how it's gonna get any worse by him playing, avoiding Terry doesn't solve anything. To aviod playing for your country and possibly the world cup because of it, shows something about his character. Infact, I give credit to JT, no matter how much stick he has taken, he still is ever ready to be england captain and he lives breathes and battles ever more for his shirt!! EDIT: I've just read it's because he doesn't want to bring distraction to the rest of the team................................................which is a noble cause, but still sounds like a copout!!

If my best mate who I worked with banged the my ex wife and mother of my child, there would be more than just tension in the office. That's without it being splashed across every bloody newspaper for the world to see. I'm sick of hearing the phrase "but he's a professional footballer" used, It doesn't make the bloke void of feelings because he kicks a ball about. Everyone should respect the fact he feels he wouldn't be able to contribute properly, to the playing side and to the team spirit.
fatmando Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 If Bridge thinks he can't give 100% to England, regardless of the reason, he shouldn't play so it's a good decision imo. I think he could probably forgive JT eventually but WC is only a few months away now, if it was next summer maybe things would be different. I also would have Baines in over Bridge anyways. But Bridge would be in my squad. As long as no ones getting in Coleens pants on the sly I'm happy!
Dylan Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Terry should definetely play in the WC. He's our best CB by far, and thats what matters. If WayneBridge don't want to play then thats his loss, letting the country down. I think if Ashley isnt fit, we've got Warnock, who is decent. And even Gareth Barry.
Fosse Boy Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 maybe that's why she turned to John Terry I have a theory that she'll be backing onto Simon Cowell's gigglestick by the time of the World Cup. Or in a lesbian relationship with one or more of Girls Aloud. Obviously I get nicer thoughts surrounding the latter, the first one gives me another ten minutes usually.

I guess people react different ways I just find it odd, players hate other players all the time, but the inability to put that aside to play for england in the WC baffles me.
TrickyTrev Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 John Terry has ended his one time best mates international career, denying him a chance to go to the world cup. Hope he feels right guilty.
Daggers Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I'm withdrawing from being considered for the squad too. I don't want Terry spunking up my missus. I'm out.
purpleronnie Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 No he hasn't bridge made the choice. And if my missus went off with someone else, I'd be glad I didn't waste anymore of my time with her.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Fair play to Bridge, he could have just kept quiet and taken the selfish option of putting himself in world cup contention knowing full well he'd struggle to play with Terry.
lavrentis Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 He's pretty lucky to get a call up to the squad then he rejects it. He's shite anyway fuck him.
Samilktray Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I dont think hes as bad as people make out, I'd prefer him over any of the other options.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 I think it's bloody awful he's made himself unavailable. Terry slept with his girlfriend, should be him to take the consequence not him. Regardless of if Bridge is crap or not.
AoWW Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 The point is he feels let down and humiliated by someone he considered a friend, and feels he cannot put that aside and play to his ability in the same team as that former friend. His call, we should respect his honesty on the subject. If my best mate who I worked with banged the my ex wife and mother of my child, there would be more than just tension in the office. To pass up an opportunity to play for England (and almost-certainly his only chance) makes me think this whole situation meant far more to him than many have imagined.
MC Prussian Posted 25 February 2010 Posted 25 February 2010 Comes SA 2010, all you Bridge haters might eat a hat or two should England fail to win the World Cup.
